The Pace Report: "A Standard Life" The Marilyn Scott Interview

Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring vocalist Marilyn Scott performing new music from her latest CD "Standard Blue". Marilyn recently toured the east coast in support of her new music making a appearance at the famed Birdland in New York.

Her latest CD is a all standards release which features Russell Ferrante on keys, Jimmy Haslip on bass, James Harrah on guitar, and Jimmy Branly on drums. This is Marilyn's first record in 8 years.

I sat down with Marilyn to talk about the new disc, her musical influences, and her band.

The Pace Report: "The Ever Coherent Yellowjackets" The Yellowjackets

Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring The Yellowjackets performing new music from their new Mack Avenue Records release, "Cohearence." This is the band's 22 second release and their third on Mack Avenue and the group is celebrating 35 years as a unit.

"Cohearance" also marks a new milestone of the group. Bassist Dane Alderson is the new member of the band replacing Felix Pastorius. Alderson hails from Perth, Austrialia and has been playing with The Yellowjackets for a little over a year.

I had a chance to speak with the members of The Yellowjackets while they played their weeklong engagement at the famed Birdland Jazz Club in New York to talk about Dane's new role as a Yellowjacket, the new music, and Dane himself elaborates on his year as a member of the group.
