Damien sighed softly as the Detective moved to talk to another in the room. "I already have to deal with one 'fight first, ask questions later' companion, I don't need a second. Still..." Dark eyes hesitantly moved from the Detective to Rachel, "I would be lying if I pretended there wasn't something strange about him. He's too guarded for it to be dismissed as 'not knowing others'."

Fortunately, before he could dwell on it much longer, Rachel changed the topic. The Mayor sighed, reflecting on recent times. "Mark is... Elusive, to put it simply. He has kept to himself over the last year or two. I've tried reaching out, but it has been rather difficult to keep in contact with someone who wants to shut the world out." His problems were not something Damien considered polite to share, especially when it hit so close to home.

"It's why I wanted to be sure I was here. If this is him trying to reach out and start a new chapter, I want to be here to support him."

Damien nodded slowly at the youth’s comment. “Sometimes, that is one of the most difficult positions you can be in. Mayhaps that is why some I have spoken to are keen to remind me that ‘good’ and ‘bad’ are subjective. Life... Well, Life isn’t all that simple, when one thinks about it. It’s full of choices, and some of those can be the most challenging. I know I have had my fair share of those over the years.”

There was a brief pause as Damien shifted his weight from one foot to the other. “If I may offer some advice? No matter how ‘bad’ your choices might be, never lose sight of what matters most to you. If others paint you in a negative light for trying to do what you believe is right, do not feel you have to change your ways to meet their expectations... Does that make sense?”

"I appreciate her honesty. What she told me... I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been for her. When she is ready, I hope she is able to start the healing process.

Along those lines, I do hope she doesn't feel her past is all she is, if that makes sense. I haven't done a lot of reading on the overall topic so I could be wrong, but I can't help but wonder if it's a response to trauma. Regardless, I would like her to be able to spend her time in City Hall to rediscover herself and her own interests."

“I think you do.” When someone sees a child perform a feat like this, something abnormal, telekenetic, one would expect them to freak out, grab their pitchfork and torch and run them out of town.

But this was Carrie White, all grown up, changed by the same experiences this girl seemed to be going through. She remained still, total pokerface, with nothing but a raised eyebrow.

“A word of advice, keep calm at all times, no matter what. Ya’ don’t wanna go around causing any disasters you can’t control... Trust me.”
