Here comes my 25 favourite rock/pop/r’n’b/hiphop/country albums of 2022.
25. Sally Shapiro – Sad Cities
Sally Shapiro released a couple of excellent albums between 2006-2013, but actually retired a few years ago. Fortunately, she changed her mind. She returned in 2021 and released a new album in 2022 with musical partner Johan Agebjörn. Shapiro has always shunned public life and her real name is a secret. They were influenced by Italo Disco from the beginning, but never more so than on the new album. They signed with the label Italians Do It Better so it’s a natural fit. One of my favourite bands, Chromatics, broke up in 2021. Sally Shapiro’s return is at least a little consolation.
