What's happening in Bangladesh?

Last week, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, a speeding bus rammed into a few school students, who were waiting for a bus home. The bus in question was 'racing' another bus, trying to be the first to get ahead, which led to two students being killed on the spot and others being severely injured. This rightfully led to peaceful protests all over the country led by students with an average age of 16-17, who called for better road safety, reformation of laws related to road safety and accountability of the culprits, most importantly, justice, as every year, more than 4000 people die from road accidents in Bangladesh.
Roads were taken over by the students, with the help of the police, they organised traffic; created and maintained different lanes for different types of vehicles, and even created an emergency vehicle lane, checked cars and buses to see if the drivers had proper licenses, whether people were wearing seatbelts, helmets, etc. All peaceful. This lasted for 5 days. Until, today.
Today, August 4th, 2018, ruling party affiliates have infiltrated the protests, carrying weapons to beat up the innocent protesters. The police force is nothing more than a passive bystander. The attackers are also specifically targeting young female protesters, with the sole aim of sexual harassment. Already many grave injuries have been reported. 4 female students having gone missing, and one of their dead bodies was found with obvious signs of sexual abuse. The government has also enforced a media blackout, so there is virtually no coverage of today's injustice. And so far, no local news outlet has covered any of the protests, intentionally ignoring the situation. Ultimate smackdown by the government. International news outlets are trying, but they don't have a lot of information to go on and much of it is conflicting. Here is a BBC article on the attacks.

Please. We are being smothered from all sides. As I'm writing this on 4th August, 8:47pm, my mobile internet has been shut down. All the links to videos of the protests, which involved student protesters being beaten, have been deleted and cannot be shared. Accounts are getting blocked from sharing links of videos. All we want is the safety to travel. Please, help us. These kids don't deserve bloodshed.
