Man, now I really do want Saharkis the Giant Monster Scorpion to come back as part of Occtis’ undead zoo-in-a-pocket. He’s pulled out a cadaverous vulture and a cat from his special golden bone sigil so far, and Pin’s just hopping around how he likes. Surely in this situation when the majority of the party is looking rough as hell in the hit points and they’re about to head downstairs to even worse threats, they could use some undead muscle on their side? Picture it:
Occtis taking just long enough to perform whatever rite adds his undead critters to the menagerie. Saharkis awakes. Occtis communicates the bad news, perhaps with Thaisha listening in via Speak with Animals.
Friend told me to wait. So I wait. Friend went below with her kin. Your kin. Kin came back. Friend still below. Night is long. Night is always. I wait. All the living and the dying and the dead. They fight, they run. I wait. And wait. And wait. Hungry. Waiting. You are dead, Friend’s kin. You bring me living food. Would eat. But then I burn. Then I die. Then I wake. No hunger now. More waiting? You come to get Friend?
“I’m sorry. Your friend—my cousin, she… Tertia isn’t coming back. She was killed down below. I was killed too, but I woke up. Our kin killed us.” Here a little ominous leaning on the necromantic eeriness, a thickening of shadow. “Would you like to kill them back?”
Yes.
An eager snip-snap of the pincers, the stinger swinging. They head down into Tannesar's depths with Saharkis leading the way, knowing the trail of his master’s essence even after so long. More undead brawling ensues. Pin is somehow just chilling on top of Saharkis’ stinger the whole time.
Cut forward to a future scene—perhaps another skirmish, perhaps a reunion between Thimble and Occtis at last—and the Reveal:
“Hey! Do you want to meet my new pet?”
The gold bones come out, the sigil goes to work, everyone expecting some skittering little critter. What’s he going to whip out? A buzzard or a ratty kitten?
BOOM.
