Patronage: mental disorders, neurological disorders, runaways, victims of incest

Dymphna, the only daughter to a pagan king, took after her mother in faith and beauty, taking a vow of chastity at a young age. After the death of his wife, Dymphna’s father sought to marry his daughter, causing her to flee. After finding her and her continued refusals, Dymphna’s father cut off her head making her a martyr at the age of fifteen.

Everyone should try their best to befriend a saint. I just cried on the eve of my birthday out of gratitude for how good of a friend I consider Saint Dymphna. She’s seen me through the absolute worst of it and now that I’m better we’re still besties. Her intercession has changed me for the better and her friendship will last for eternity.

Thank you Saint Dymphna, for being with me on the verge of death, in my most blindingly wonderful moments, and when I’m complaining about washing the dishes. I will show you every tiny fish in every pond I visit and share every depressing microwave ramen meal with you until there are no more tiny fish and there is no more microwave ramen.

I'm brushing my teeth a little too hard and listening to a new album at a dangerous volume and praying to Saint Dymphna (I'm not Catholic, but she's been in my corner before) because I might need divine intervention to see this one through

and between myself and my muses and the holy I cling to, I might pull myself into shape at least enough to manage this time.
