“Let me out of here, Sai.” Something twisted in Sai’s stomach at the way Suigetsu said his name, but he couldn’t stop himself from laughing at the rest of what he said.
“You know I can’t.” Sai felt a little guilty for saying it, but the terms of Suigetsu’s imprisonment weren’t up to him. He expected Suigetsu to sulk just like he did every other time they talked about it, but his sharp smile stayed in place.
“Maybe you could for the right price.” Suigetsu put an odd emphasis on the word, one that caused that something to twist in Sai’s stomach again. Sai took a step closer to the bars without even thinking about it, like his body understood something that he didn’t.
“You don’t have anything I want.” The words felt like a lie on Sai’s tongue.
“Don’t I?” There was a huskiness to Suigetsu’s voice that hadn’t been there before, one that brought a flush to Sai’s face. Suigetsu hooked his thumbs into the waistband of his pants, framing his crotch with his hands in a way that had to be intentional. Sai’s blush grew even hotter as he finally understood what Suigetsu was getting at.
“I—” Sai cut himself off and swallowed audibly, his mouth suddenly dry.
