Further progress on the Cardiff. After some consideration, I decided to raise the shuttle bay up a deck so I don't have to faff around with multiple mezzanines. This meant rebuilding that section about three times until I was happy with it. Sigh.

Beyond that, it's mostly a case of beginning to add detail and reworking the nacelles some more. Still not completely happy with the radiators up there, so I might redo them again later. But I'll probably focus on the engineering hull for the moment.

I've also thrown together a Saladin class sketch using the smaller saucer and the neck and nacelle from the Excalibur. Looks pretty snazzy, actually!

I am currently trying to decide what I want to do viz the deflector dish. I viscerally hate simply having it stuck out the bottom of the saucer on a bracket, so I will probably try to do a cutout of some kind (hence why I've deleted the lower front phaser bank).

The Kelvin timeline version of the Saladin class whacked on a shuttle bay extending out the back of the bridge, which is a decent look, but I'm not entirely sure I want to go down that route for what, at present, isn't a ship I *need* to make. We'll see.

Some USS Cardiff progress to round off the week. It has taken all my powers to avoid accidentally putting a smiley face on the back of the engineering hull.

This is nearly done - I just want to add a little detailing to the sides of the superstructure at the back of the saucer. Then I will bite the bullet, stop mirroring that section, and add the registry.

Oh, I should also say, it took me a while to settle on it but I think this is the best torpedo launcher configuration I can apply to the saucer using the components I created for the Excalibur. I don't really like the idea of making it a pair of straightforward tubes, and I think moving the phaser banks around like this works, more or less.

I also ported that over to the Saladin class model. After mulling this one for a while, I think I'm going to settle for no deflector dish, with the front of the saucer detailed to imply a hidden deflector array ala the Miranda class. I likewise settled on building shuttlebays directly into the back of the hull, rather than trying to build something out of the back of the bridge section. It just looks a lot cleaner this way.
