The Best President Philippines Never Had
Honored to give my first presidential vote to Miriam Defensor-Santiago. A woman who fears no one. A woman who is recognized and has achieved so much locally and inrernationally. A woman who was cheated twice in presidential elections wherein if she wasn’t cheated, she would have been one of the Presidents in the Philippines. And lastly, a woman who is adored so much by the youth, like me.
Unofficial and partial results have come out after the voting was closed and i’m so dissapointed with the results. She’s on the last spot (excluding Señeres bc he’s dead). F*cking last spot! I don’t get why Filipinos didn’t vote her. She’s the most qualified President among the candidates. She’s overqualified, to be specific. Filipinos are clearly blind because they just brushed off everything she’s done for our country because of her health issues. I mean, is she going to die soon enough? I know we don’t know when will a person die but she has equal chances of dying as those with the other candidates.
On the partial and unofficial results, Binay has even more votes than her! Binay! A corrupt Vice President! There are evidences that he’s corrupt but Filipinos still voted for him! The first on the spot in the results is Duterte. I considered him before as my President because he has solved crimes in his town during his more than 20 years term as mayor in his town where it is dubbed as the safest city in the country. But it changed. I was suddenly aware that he has killed thousands of people. A few of those are not yet of legal age. And during his campaign, he has said statements which has hurt mostly women and pwd’s. He joked about a rape victim in his town, he said he has peeped a maid and that was okay because she’s just a maid. And he’s also disgusting because he kissed a few woman supporters of him, not on the cheeks but lips! So disgusting! But even if he is like that, he’s my second option. I have no choice. Binay is so corrupt. Mar, he’s just following the footsteps of PNoy and we have had enough of him already. Poe is not that yet qualified for me to run as President. And Duterte, even if he’s like that, he has done so much in his town. What I am just dissapointed about and can’t accept on the results is Miriam is on the last spot. I, together with the other people who voted for her, would have accept that she’ll loose if she at least is on the second spot. Maybe we wanted that because we believed that Filipinos will choose wisely and vote for her. But we were wrong. Filipinos have chosen candidates who are so much lower.
Miriam’s loss was never really a loss for her but rather ours. She would have been the best President this country will have. Maybe we are not yet ready for a President like her. Or maybe God has better plans for her. She has served almost all of her life in our country and I think it’s time for her to stop serving us and just spend the rest of her life with her family who will never dissapoint her.
To Duterte (there isn’t still an official result but from the unofficial and partial results that are coming out, it looks like you will really win), please take good care of our country. You won maybe because God sees you as a perfect fit to be our President. The change we need maybe can finally be achieved because of you. Please don’t dissapoint us. You will be our President for the next six years and i’m looking forward for changes in our country after your term.
To the Filipinos, let’s accept that Duterte has won (tho it really hurts because i want Miriam). Let’s help him change our country. Rember, change starts within ourselves. Let’s all be finally responsible of our actions. Let’s all be disciplined citizens.
And lastly, to Miriam, thank you for the years of serving this country. We can’t thank you enough. We love you so much. Deep in our hearts, you are our President. Now, enjoy the rest of your life with your dear family. We will be forever grateful of you. I pray that may God give you longer life. You’re the best blessing this country has ever received.
To the Philippines, God bless you!
