Hey! Can i ask what app you use for drawing? I don't have an ipad, so can you recommend one for a windows laptop??
Hey, thanks for the question! Right now I’m using a mix of Procreate on iPad and Photoshop on my laptop using a medium Wacom Intuos Pro. I’ve been using these tools for years, so I don’t think I’m the best judge of tools for newcomers anymore, but I’ll try.
Photoshop is the most versatile program I an unfortunate enough to own. I say unfortunately, because the price tag is very steep and they have stopped doing one-time purchases in favor of monthly subscriptions. It’s really not ideal, but I’ve been using it for so long that I don't have many substitutes that have worked for me.
That being said, Clip Studio Paint is a legit great competitor that has pretty much everything that PS has, but is more geared towards drawing. It is a one-off purchase and it goes on sale semi-regularly, so I’d recommend giving them a look. If I remember correctly, I got my copy for about £45. The same goes for Corel Painter, which is a bit more heavy-duty and geared towards making paintings.
There are of course lots of other software out there, like Autodesk Sketchbook, Gimp, SAI, and Krita, but I’m not the best judge on these since I haven’t been using them much. If anyone else has any good tips, do feel free to add to the discussion.
