I always notice who post a “note”. I appreciate the clicking abilities of raygarraty, polaroidblog, and others. I usually do click profiles to see what you’re about. Last night, I noticed that antiquatedfurture liked the post about Saturday Night. I clicked through and was introduced to a great label.
I’ve chosen to post about The Washboard Abs (Olympia, Washington) because, (1) it is Antiquated Future’s most recent release, (2) it has a slicker (a bit less “indie”) sound reminiscent of Sandy’s, The Alan Parsons Project, Andy Burns, Mantler, and Once & Future Band. Once I learned to love Steely Dan, I loved bands like this.
The label, Antiquated Future, is a cassette only label out of Portland, Oregon.

7/28/21.
On our trip through the Pacific Northwest, I bought several records at Jive Time (Seattle). One was The Botticellis “Old Home Movies”. I saw the band play at Sophia’s in Davis, bought the CD, and if it had been a cassette, I would have worn it out.
The Botticellis turned into Sandy’s (San Francisco, California). I’ve bought their catalogue over the years, and for the most part they stayed true to The Botticellis. “Magic Mind”, however, has firmly printed itself in the 1970s...alternately Windham Hill-ish or any other prog-pop-guitar solo your can imagine.
Still, I love this. It is released by Royal Oakie Records (Oakland, California).

Waiting to Order Food by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Others came to order while I waited outside of Sandy's. It was the everyday look of people that caught my attention here.
