I know this is going to be controversial but :P Moonwatcher is my aroace child and also I just. Don’t see how they are romantic??? They don’t work together! Qibli and Winter have more chemistry but even then… They are all teenagers that need to actually grow up and stop going through trauma before they even think about romance.

Rhys and Sasha

Look, it's been a while since I've played the game so maybe I'm misremembering, but I do remember having strong feelings about this back when I did play it. Did they even talk until episode 4??? It felt like they didn't want to do the "cliché" thing of putting Rhys and Fiona together (which I do kinda ship them so maybe I'm just biased but at least they've interacted on screen for more than a minute!!) so they went uhhh the only other girl is Sasha so we'll put them together instead! Even though they've barely interacted! And Rhys really doesn't seem like Sasha's type! But hey, we'll have them meet like once in episode 4, give Sasha a new hairdo in ep 5 and suddenly he's smitten! ?????

I know it's a choice based game so it's not necessarily canon? but that was the popular choice -_- and kinda felt like the choice the game was nudging you towards. like it took real effort and careful choices to even get a chance to HINT at having something between Rhys and Fiona instead…

So I’ve finished the Tales from the Borderlands.

Recently I played Dispatch, and I really needed a fun and funny narrative game, and that’s what my friends recommended I try, although I’m not at all familiar with the universe.

And I loved it. It’s beautiful.

It is clever and funny and stylish and fun. The characters are lovable and smart and adventurous. The story is welcoming and intriguing. The openings in each episode are breathtaking and the setting is so cool and the music overall is amazing.

But now I’m left with two holes in my chest.

(Spoilers for the end of the Tales)

First, we need more games like this, and I don’t know what to do about it.

Last, I’m so sad I couldn’t romance Fiona. So sad that the game not only doesn’t encourage it, it’s like it prohibits it.

The scenes are specifically conducted to be romantic and full of awe between Rhys and Sasha, but I don’t feel the spark. The chemistry between Rhys and Fiona, on the other hand, to me is juicy and fierce, the “kill each other or kiss each other” type. The saddest part is that even after you do all the three small steps to avoid the Sasha route and get as close as you can to the game’s version of choosing Fiona, Fiona still believes it’s about her sister and not her, hence the “Stay away from my sister”, which makes me sad.

I know this is a fresh emotional take, and it doesn’t take away from the incredible beauty that the game is. I will be however a Rhyiona stan forever, because however not?
