#JackedKirby - Welcome To The Satan Club!!!! 😈😈😈 It’s #MisterMiracleMonday so we decided to take a little trip down... way down! Down to The Satan Club!!!! Whattttt?!!?!? 😈😈😈 Jack was never one to be subtle in his ideas or concepts, so when Mister Miracle And Oberon encounter an evil Satanic Cult in #Issue14 of the Mister Miracle series (June of 1973) it’s not so shocking... they encounter the cult attempting to kidnap someone in the woods (Pic 1 is the full double splash, Pics 2/3 are close up shots of the same spread) and follow them back to their lair... Satan’s Lair!!! 😈😈😈 In Pic 4 we see Jack taking the opportunity to visualize this cults home turf as a very creepy “haunted house”.... and excellent use of an opportunity. He could have drawn just any building... but he went with the classic haunted house motif and killed it! The New England colonial styled home looks creeky and aged, and sets the mode for the cult encounter to follow!!! 😈😈😈 The cult is led by Madam Evil Eyes (again, Jack was never subtle) and MM and Oberon are captured. The cult plan to sacrifice MM to Satan, so he in entrapped in the claws of a giant statue of the Dark Lord (Pic 5). Of course Scott Free isn’t so easily subdued... so he escapes the stone handed grip and begins to mete our justice as only a New God can!!! 😈😈😈 This one off cult story is a great opportunity for Kirby to experiment with numerous masks/helmets of the cultists, seen in the splash page.
