There Are New Darkwing Duck Comics, and They Are Amazing, and You Should Check Them Out. #SaveDarkwing
And I mean new, new comics. Not the ones from the 90s. Not even the Boom! comics of yesteryear. There is, right now, a fantastic ongoing Darkwing Duck comic series from Joe Books. Unfortunately, if sales for the upcoming trade paperback aren’t stellar, then the publisher won’t continue the series past Issue #8. The series’s survival depends on people buying the trade paperback... which means that the series’s survival could very well depend on you.
That’s right. You, humble denizen of the internet. You, tiny tumblerite. You can help to ensure that Darkwing’s story is told to its completion -- and you’ll have the opportunity to read a great comic book while you’re at it.
If you enjoyed the original television show, these comics are a fantastic continuation of the show’s legacy. If you liked the Boom! comics, these stories pick up where The Definitively Dangerous Edition (which compiled, tweaked, and awesome-ified the Boom! comics) left off. Heck, if you liked the 90s Darkwing comics, there’ve been references to half a dozen 90s-comics villains in just the first few issues (Pokerface, anybody?), and we got a whole issue about Fluffy, the villainous supergenius cat with no opposable thumbs. The creators of this comic are DEDICATED to the history and lore of the Darkwing Duck universe, and they’ve brought their A-game to every issue thus far.
You can preorder the trade paperback here or here. Or just pop “Disney Darkwing Duck Comics Collection” into your favored search engine and find the one that’s coming out this January.
