⚠️PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ - SCAMS⛔️

Hey all! I believe I've run into a scam recently (the whole "hey, I accidentally reported your account" followed up by "you're suspected for phishing," yadda yadda... that stuff). The original messages came from @woofdawg . I'm not entirely sure if they were hacked or if they're also being decieved. I'm disclosing their account for fear that others might get similar messages from them.

Obviously, my account was not involved in phishing and stuff, so unless I got report bombed, and they didn't check the account before confirming (?), this is absolutely not true.

Before pursuing, I did extensive research on my own using both the Tumblr support website and various user accounts of similar "actions" taken against them.

The secondary person, when questioned, and the attachment the first sent me, has threatened legal action (subpoeina) and a permaban (of my acc and my IP). I doubt it. They only did this when I resisted or asked too many questions, thus slipping from the metaphorical hook.

If I DO get banned, you know where to find me. SpikeGeist in most places. SpikerYikers in the others. Again, I DOUBT IT because this followed a reported scam WORD-FOR-WORD.

Here's some screenshots I nabbed. I reported and blocked Mr. David Hayes. I'm a bit suspicious of @woofdawg but the jury's still out on that (whether they're hacked, or what). When I used reverse image search, this very certificate and the email screenshot were used frequently in scams, meaning they're made up, faked, or stolen.

Also, David Hayes DOES reportedly work at Tumblr. He's just a ... (checks notes) CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER, and the pfp that is used here is like. The first one thst pops up when you search his name. Which, y'know, excuse my French, but IF THIS DUDE WORKS IN MARKETING, WHY THE FUCK AM I BEING DIRECTED TO CONTACT HIM!?

ARTIST SCAM AWARENESS

This is an incredibly common scam in the art world. What these people will do is go under posts with certain tags and comment “dm for commission” or something along those lines.

They are scamming you. This is not how art commissions work and this is not how anyone interested in a commission would communicate- they will usually dm you, cite very very specifically what they want (usually using very specific examples in their language) and will be much more, well, interested in the art aspect.

I’ve heard personal stories from other artists who have fallen victim to these scams. This will only end up with you losing money to these sheisters and having no recourse. I’ve known people who have literally been down hundreds of dollars.

The pictures they use are almost always stolen.

DO. NOT. FALL. FOR. THESE. SCAMS.

I’ve become a big fan of the YouTuber AtomicShrimp lately (check him out), and in honor of his work I’ll be scambaiting these wankers as far as I can take them. This isn’t my first time and this particular session ended with me getting blocked.

Stay vigilant against these wankers and spread the word as far as you can! Reblog, make your own posts, whatever I don’t care just help people to not fall for this crap.

Let's talk about these Scams out there!

Being it guys on Tiktok or instagram telling you they're high ranking US soldiers or Henry Cavill, Sebastian Stan, Chris Evans, any other celebrity (or their manager, assistant, the head of the CIA to help them out) or whoever they think they want you to be - sadly they're not real and just out and about to scam you for money. None

Let's take the example of Henry Cavill:

He won't ask you personally to donate for Durrel. He posts his charities on his socials. If you want to donate, do that for yourself and via the official channels (Durrel challenge or durrel.org for the zoo itself)

He won't ask you to pay a ton of money to take part in an arranged meet and greet, so he can finally meet you.

He would never ask you for gift cards to redeem his PC games, not even as a birthday gift.

There are countless more things he won't ask you for and that is for example any kind of money or personal information, pictures.

You want to talk to a scam for fum? Do it have fun, make them work. While they're texting you, they're not texting someone else. Be and stay aware they're just that - scam. DO NOT send money, DO NOT share personal information (like your real name, names of pets, siblings whatever, the google adress you use for your internet transactions).

Let's raise awareness and hopefully prevent this thing to happen as good as it gets.
