I don't think I've ever seen anyone draw scarlet with scars, cause I think if she survived the attack. The blast still would have damaged her badly and giving her scars, but she doesn't die!! Here's the images separated!!!

I owe so much of my inspiration and writing craft over the last decade to these games and its fans. thank you for joining me—both for this anniversary project and throughout my creative endeavours! 💙

it was an honour to co-organize this anniversary zine for one of my favourite games and also work with our writers 1-on-1 throughout the creation process. if it's not obvious from my AO3 publishing history, FE14 very much possessed my creative spirit for the last decade and has compelled me to never stop honing my writing skills. in recognizing that, I think it's fair of me to say I would not be where I'm at today, both as a writer and as a person, without these games. so, if you've read my first FE14 fic, or just this one, or perhaps all of them: thank you. this definitely won't be the last these games see from me!!

one aspect of being part of the organization team for a collection like this is that you don't always have the luxury of creating for what your heart speaks most to. because we needed another fic for the Birthright section, I stepped up to the bat; I was glad to, but anyone who knows these games and me sees where this is going. a facet of Birthright that's never sat well with me is how Corrin's grief over losing Gunter is pushed under the metaphorical rug. if anything, I think part of their motivation for siding with Hoshido should be intrinsically tied to wanting revenge against the kingdom who disposed of him so carelessly—but maybe I'm biased. all that to say, part of my intent with writing this piece and selecting the setting I did was largely motivated by the fact this is the one instance in Birthright (I believe?) where Corrin gets to even remotely spit venom at Hans for what happened to Gunter. as is my nature, I wanted to take it a few steps further <33 mutilating the corpse of the asshole who pushed your dearest retainer to his supposed death is a healthy way to cope with your grief, right?

on a more serious note, I was excited to give myself a challenge with this piece. writing action sequences is admittedly not my forte, but I was so inspired to write this as if it were 'high stakes and you were playing the chapter turn by gruelling turn' that I just had to try. now that the story is finished, I certainly wouldn't consider myself a pro at the genre by any means, but I do think I've acquired a few tips and tricks along the way! having a whole army of characters (literally) to bounce between was certainly one of them. how do you approach writing battlefield action sequences? is there any advice you would give to someone seeking to hone their craft? let's hear it!
