She stared at him, shaking her head slightly as he tried to fight her on this. “It wasn’t a question Barry.” She stated simply, her hand still resting on his arm as she tried to pull him towards her,. “They can manage one night, and if not it’s not like you can’t come running back… besides.”

She paused, wondering if saying this might help instead, “maybe I need the company instead. Did you think of that?”

It was a surprise she had managed to get up. Surely the warmth from her bed and pajamas combined with the endless loop of movies playing on her laptop was going to keep her in bed all day. Mostly, it had- sleeping, albeit- but just a few minutes before he had gotten in, she had found her way to their kitchen and was looking for a snack. Keeping her face against him, she let out a little sigh of contentment. “Joe actually made me soup? I love that man. He’s such a great man. Such a kind man.” Yes, the meds were getting to her.

            how foreign would come the thought of stability to a boy whose LIFE has been WAR. maybe, in another LIFE, this would be a reunion. something CELEBRATED. maybe it wouldn’t be a BATTLEGROUND. nonetheless, this is how he’s standing. fists CLENCHED, jaw tight. here stands his SECOND HALF----- the prince to his iron mask. the taste in his mouth is BITTER yet familiar. . . the taste of ENVY.

             maybe ONCE, this wouldn’t have been so good natured.  but there’s something genuine about the way hartley SMILES at barry, even in his SELF-PROCLAIMED correctness.  too soon to BRAG??   ❛ it’s not a BIG mistake. ANYONE could have made it. ❜  he slips the pen casually from barry’s fingers before delving into the calculations. a little fix here, there. . . little ADJUSTMENTS. and when the pen is offered back, hartley doesn’t stop his arm from brushing against the speedster’s, a teasing glimmer in his gaze.

She wasn’t going to take it. He wasn’t allowed to shy away from her help when he was so adamant about bandaging her up. This was just her turn now. Placing her hand on his shoulder lightly as she didn’t know where the pain was exactly, she leaned down and pressed a kiss to his hair. “Barry, honey, please let me see. I just want to see it, I’m not going to do anything to it, alright? I just want to make sure that you’re actually alright.”

Standing behind the school was a man he’d never SEEN before , and instantly Mike was s u s p i c i o u s . El had said people were AFTER her - maybe t h i s was one of them . Eyes squinted in the other’s direction as Mike hid behind the corner , WATCHING . The man wasn’t really d o i n g anything , but he couldn’t help but distrust the other , if simply because he was obviously NEW around town . Suddenly Mike stepped out from behind the school , puffing his chest a bit , trying to look t o u g h , as he approached .
