Ok Varric was right though, you can’t/don’t have to forgive everyone. Cole isn’t a spirit of Forgiveness he’s a spirit of Compassion, and some people aren’t worthy of that compassion, as cynical as it seems. It’s fine that the templar who killed the OG Cole was left alive to wallow in his misery, but I still think that the lesson of “I don’t have to forgive him, but I can live with him existing” is both important and more realistic than “Forgive everyone.”
Maybe a templar forgetting something isn’t the biggest of crimes, but he still worked to cover it up when they found out Cole was dead. Which is gross! Literally don’t know why Solas thought that forgiving a neglectful, murderous templar was the right thing to do. So yeah I think Varric was right. It’s the same lesson that should have been a thing in Dorian’s confrontation with his dad. Bioware Why Are You Like This.
