Darry is a child taking care of children and it makes me so sad

He had to grow up, he didn’t have a choice, suddenly he has the responsibility of 2 kids before his brain is even fully developed.

Darry is one of my favorite characters ever and I will never blame him for the bad things that happened in the outsiders.

i like to imagine that ponyboy (before his paper is due) experiments with different writing mediums to tell his story. hence the outsiders book, musical, and screenplay. in every medium he loses johnny and hates himself so much that he makes sure that all of his written pieces gets famous so everyone sees how 'horrible' he is. hes so guilty that he immortalizes the story, the shame and the dread he feels for johnny (and dally) through the musical, book, and movie. hes punishing himself as he gives his story a life of its own. thats just me imagining tho idk cause obviously se hinton wrote it but its an interesting thing to think about
