On the Carretera al Colca (Colca Highway), passing herds of alpaca, llama, and vicuña, as well as the unique giant coots and Andean ducks which frequent the high Altiplano lakes. - From this point, the road climbs to 4910m (16,108 ft), one of the highest elevated passes in the world, nearly three miles above sea level. - I was so cold up near the apex, I was shaking; my right leg was like a sewing machine. My right hand was completely numb, the left hand I kept on the warm engine block. - Riding my motorcycle with herds of alpaca on either side of the road was a visual dream of mine, finally realized. - Impressive how hearty those fuzzy camelids are. 🇨🇱Chile - Atacama nights. We are on our way to a classified dark zone in the desert. To top it that weekend a once in a year meteor shower will be visible with upto 40 per hour...so they say. ☄️💫 With such good prospects we gave word to @lifeunloadedrtw aka @paularcaria and Aida and @2bikes_1dream aka Neake and Paul to all meet in the desert at a astro camp for a star studded afair. Good friends, check. Astro camp, check. Bottle of dodgy moonshine to keep all warm, check. Big fire pit, check. What possibly can go wrong?😁 Much, much later all warmed up from the moonshine and camp fire some pose for naked pics, others laugh histericaly for the ones posing naked. Eventually around 3am with none of the meteor shower Aida and myself were able to get a few photos for the memory bank. She was lighting director for this photo.
