ENGLISH VERSION OF THE POST AND LETTER:

I saw that this was shared by a friend of mine while scrolling on my news feed on Facebook. This is a letter dedicated to Simoun regarding the 2019 Election.

“LETTER TO SIMOUN

Simoun,

I will find the lamp with nitroglycerin. In every corner of the country, search each forest and land, and I will look for every single side street in the city and I will dive into the deep ocean in hopes that I could find your lamp. I’m pretty sure that it won’t be just me who would want it to explode, but the all of the accumulated heartache, fraud, robbery, hatred, and the long suffering that the heart of our nation is hiding.

If I do ever find your lamp, I will bring this to the COMELEC office and the (Malacañang) Palace, so that they can see the light of anger and annoyance of the Filipino community that hopes for a clean and honest election.

I will make sure that there will be no one like Isagani that will stop my plan. It may be risky, but, I will not let my heart win. Instead, I will let that raise of concern fly over for our nation’s future.

Simoun, I am sorry for my plan. It’s difficult to love this nation. It’s difficult. It’s really difficult. Why? Because the citizens are still making a fool of themselves believing in thieves, and corrupt candidates.

Simoun, please forgive me and this nation as well. Let me find your lamp filled with nitroglycerin so that I can continue your failed plan.

Simoun, I repeat: please forgive me. Yet, this is the last straw. This is the last breath. This nation is dying due to the cancer that these leaders bring.

Simoun, come and search with me so that I can still save this nation. This is not yet the end.

I will wait for you, Simoun.

Philippines being told to vote wisely during elections:

I tend to joke about this thing, A LOT (just not in tumblr) but honestly, it's disgusting and sad for me because it's not a joke. This is happening. And you guys, I love my country SO MUCH but I'm losing hope and getting scared for her future.

The administration makes sure that the people are uneducated just so they could continue to fool and manipulate them into voting for those who are pro-administration. (You see, education isn't right, it's privilege). The youth and some of the older generation are trying so hard to make sure that the voters are well educated about the senatorial candidates but no matter how hard we try, nothing changes.

I don't understand why they keep voting corrupt politicians (even those who currently have pending cases), those who lack credentials, have lied straight to our faces about said credentials, and those who are directly involved in extrajudicial killings of drug addicts (yeah, some people don't believe in the word 'reformation'). And then the same people who voted for those politicians end up ranting about them saying they did no good for the country.

It's a never ending cycle.

We say that we deserve more. We say that our country needs change. They forget that we have to start with ourselves. They forget that change doesn't happen overnight. Everything is blamed on the government and it's just so sad.

And don't get me started on those who refuse to vote. Those who keep saying that even if they vote, nothing will change. WELL GUESS WHAT??? EVERY. VOTE. COUNTS. Exercise your right!

God, I just want us to have people who will do good for the country instead what I have are politicians who pocket the country's money.

QUICKLY LOGGING BACK ON HERE FOR URGENT PRAYER REQUEST!

Please pray for my country, the Philippines. Senatorial elections are coming up next week and many of us are hoping that the up-and-coming candidates who have essentially clean track records and have a heart for our nation are the ones who will win. 

Please pray that God would intervene in whatever cheating might happen (because I’m already hearing rumors of people finding their ballots are already shaded when placed under blue light before elections have even started). Pray that God would elect the right leaders (Majority of candidates are administration-backed but they’re known to be in cahoots with corruption, a few of them even have cases being filed against them for a lot of stuff they were found guilty for, etc etc.)

Please please please pray for my country :( Pray for safe elections too.

Politics: Abomination of Nation?

Since I’m underaged and I’m not yet allowed to cast my vote, I want to share my point of view about the Senatorial Elections held yesterday.

We, Filipinos, have the habit of voting a candidate that came from a political dynasty. Some say that this certain “candidate" was properly oriented and educated about politics because of his or her family. But I find this theory abstruse. Why? How sure are we that this candidate is capable of making decisions for our country? Let us say for instance, the controversial and cyber-bullied Nancy Binay.

The Netizens, especially from the Twitter World, expressed their abomination against Binay. Some even made fun of her dark complexion. But for me, it doesn’t matter if she’s an albino or a black. The only thing that concerns me is that she doesn’t have a political background and experience. If she wants to be a senator, she could have ran in the public office as a councilor or a mayor and made a name for herself. She shouldn’t have relied on her father’s name.

During the campaign period, she was the only candidate that didn’t attend any debates or forums. What are her platforms? What will she do if she wins? Nobody knows. She’ll just be the famous “Nanay de Pamilya sa Senado".

If the government is imbecile, then with all due respect, those who voted for them are much worst. If they are fully aware that the candidates are not deserving, then why did they vote for them? Indeed,this nation is full of dicombobulation.

Fresh From The Old

Same old. Same old. Same old.

The same old thing happens every three years. We yearn for change. We campaign for it. Then, after the election results come out - even as they are being counted - all winners cheated; all losers got cheated on.

"I really won" versus "I lost but I won't admit it"

Sum total? At the end of the day, we find ourselves not caring about how things are once the news fever dies down but we gripe and moan about how messed up our society is... about how incorrigibly corrupt our government is... about how powerless we really are.

We shut up because there's no point to yapping about it anymore. We shut up because we'd be accused of "sour-graping." We shut up because there really isn't anything we can do about it and we have more pressing problems that need facing: like the shouting match we had with our moms, or the dishes that need replacing after we threw them at our hubbies who came home late, or the bills that need praying, or the exams that need studying...

How about we pause a while and ask ourselves:

"Am I happy with the way things are?"

And really, truly look around us before we answer?

I don't know about you. But me? I can't really say I'm happy. I mean, personally, I am. My life may not be perfect but I am happily married with healthy kids and loving family around me. I have my share of conflicts and headbutts but we work things out in the end. 

But I can't really say I'm happy with how things are.  How can I say that with a straight face when there isn't a corner in every neighborhood I've lived in where a little cheating here and there, a little corruption here and there isn't a lifestyle? How can I say that, conscience-free when I find most international posts bashing my country? How can I say that with a genuine smile when I see so much need, so much poverty and ill-health? 

How can I?

Same old. Same old. Same old. 

But I'm starting fresh from the old. I don't give a d@#% if everybody else says I've got ulterior motives and unresolved issues... that I am aiming for the impossible and yearning for the unattainable. Because, regardless of who's cheating who, there is one thing I have resolved.

I don't want to cheat on me anymore.

So fresh from the old, I am getting involved. I am speaking up. And I don't give a h@#% what everyone else will think. 

I am going to be true to me and I want to be able to look in the mirror with a straight face and say, "I am happy with how things are, not because I have changed how things are... but because I am doing something about it."

It would be good if a lot more people would think this way. No, it would actually be great if everyone would think this way. But oh well, I can't have everything. I can ony change me. And I can only hope that, while doing so, I can somehow influence somebody else.

So here's hoping...

Fighting To Be Free

At the depths of despair, you keep encouraging yourself by saying: "Just one more. Just this once. And I'm going to be home free."

I tell that to myself every single day as I battle the many fears that mothers and wives fight with on a daily basis. Those moments when you second-guess yourself. When you aren't 100% sure that what you did was really for the best of the people that matter more to you than your own life.

A few days ago, I was battling with something else. Something entirely different from motherhood and marriage but also entirely the same. Entirely different because it is not as forthcoming as late nights nursing your infant child or bills to pay for your toddler's medical needs. But also entirely the same in that it affects your family and has a direct impact not only on your present daily life but, more importantly, on your children's future.

I fought for my country a few days ago. And I tell you, it was a tough fight. Due to an influx of insider information (which I absolutely cannot discuss), I knew that my vote would, most likely, not really be for the 'obvious win' that many of my like-minded allies had hoped for.

But I still hoped for the best.

I still do.

Because I love this country so d@#* much! And also because I know that, after all is said and done, in the end, everything we do in our fight to be free is never really for nothing. 

They all count for something. Simply because I made myself count.

Grandpa Ignas, my Mom's Dad and Death March survivor who passed on a few years ago... Dad, who went to be with the Lord a couple of years back... I am proud to say, I DID NOT LET YOU DOWN. 

So, dear newly elected senators, please, against all odds, don't let us down.
