Event Start: Renaissance Fair

Today when you wake up, each of you will notice something different about the city’s atmosphere. Septans everywhere are speaking about how the fair starts today and how excited they are to visit it. Some of you may have heard whispers about it before, but today if you ask, people will finally tell you more: the Renaissance Fair has begun in Lily District, and of course they’d all recommend you check it out for yourself! If you take a look, your MEEM has more detailed information, as a digital flyer has been sent to you from the Council:

Hello, Offworlder! Although this is one of our big Septan holidays, we realize you may not be familiar with it, so allow us to welcome you to your first Renaissance Fair! This is a time of year where we encourage Septans and offworlders alike to shed any burdens that may be weighing you down, whether they be physical or mental, and make room for yourself to flourish anew.

Every year to this end, our very own Lily heads the organization of the Renaissance Fair to celebrate the destruction of the burdensome past and renewal of our futures. Please visit Forsythia Fairgrounds within Lily District for bonfires, rides, games, and delicious food—and don’t miss the finale of our jousting tournament on the final day, whether as a participant or a member of the audience. It’s sure to be a blast for all!

Rather than us telling you about it, however, you should discover the festivities with your own senses. We hope you’ll enjoy yourself at our 776th annual Renaissance Fair!

If you choose to go to Forsythia Fairgrounds, whether at the suggestion of the Council or other Septans, you will find yourself at the center of a colorful celebration. The entire fairgrounds is filled with food stalls selling a variety of treats, some which you may recognize and some you certainly won’t: corn dogs, yakitori, snow cones, deep-fried oreos, crepes, hamburgers, candy apples, funnel cakes, takoyaki, caramel corn, walking tacos, chocolate-covered bacon, cotton candy, taiyaki, corn on a stick—okay, basically anything on a stick. Anything which can comfortably be eaten walking is likely to be sold somewhere on the grounds, and that’s before even getting into the actual attractions.

Some of the stalls which are set up don’t sell food, but rather advertise various games where you can win prizes. Many classic fair games are set up, but the most popular ones seem to be high striker, whack-a-mole, darts, break a plate, a dunk tank, and various shooting games scattered throughout the area. Popular prizes are handheld sparklers and firecrackers, but lucky winners can also win stuffed animals of wildly varying sizes, novelty rubber ducks dressed up in wacky outfits, and candy. Lots and lots of candy. At the center of this section of the park is a game of high striker taller than can be seen with the naked eye, and the vendor assures you that the bell at the top is enchanted to be heard throughout the entire park. The grand prize for hitting the top of that one is apparently the latest and greatest of gaming systems in Septaneus, your choice from the newest systems from a selection of available publishers.

And even beyond that, there’s still more! Forsythia Fairgrounds is absolutely teeming with all kinds of fair rides. The bumper cars, ferris wheel, and carousel appear the most extravagant and have the most visitors, but there are far more rides available than just those—a few slides, a tilt-a-whirl, a zipper, a fun house, mechanical bulls, teacups, a music express, a pirate ship, trampolines, and of course, a rollercoaster.

Near the main entrance, there is a booth set up for sign-ups for the Jousting Tournament on the 26th, if that sort of thing peaks your interest. For more information about that, see here. All in all, it seems there will be plenty for you to do, more than you could possibly cover in one night… Good thing you should have plenty of time to come back again and again before the fair ends for the year.

Hello everyone, and welcome to our first full-sized event! This event, the Septaneus Renaissance Fair, will last from today, August 13th, through the end of August 26th. During this time, the EVENTS category of our server will be open and available for posting in. Please see the channel descriptions for how to best utilize those channels, and remember that all channels share the group’s overall rating of PG-13.

Additionally, we would like to make a note that during the event, no killing should occur in the fairgrounds. Because it is such an important holiday with such large crowds, security at the event is high and they will intervene in the case of excessive violence. Save the violence for the tournament, where you’ll even get to have an audience cheering you on! We hope you enjoy the activities we have planned and have fun at Septaneus’ Renaissance Fair!

Of Visages Past (Closed-  Hakuno)

Thick, towering walls as far as the eye could see, and passageways of darkness - there was no denying that without light, the once friendly seeming streets of the city had now turned into something almost from nightmares. To make matters worse, the wind almost seemed to wail into that darkness - no, wait. That wasn’t the wind, it was a person. Should someone choose to follow the sound to it’s source...

There was the purple robes of a particular Dark Mage, but they were strewn across a child who clearly didn’t fit into the over-sized robes at all, it seeming more like an oversized nightgown more than anything. What exactly was going on here? The child whirled around if the other strayed close, rubbing at a red face (but ultimately failing) to hide tears.

“W-what foul monster is here to attack in the Dark World THIS time? Show y-yourself! I-i’m not...i’m not scared!” 

The quiver in the boy’s tone gave away quite obviously his unease. That boisterous tone overall, though - may be familiar.

“Heeyyyy!” This is your neighbor, don’t mind him suddenly grabbing you by the wrist, or the fact he’s dragging you somewhere. Perhaps he was pulling her too roughly without realizing it. He was running with someone in toll with him after all. Never mind that, this was an emergency after all! A soul just told him someone was in danger, and with zombies everywhere, yeah that spelled disaster. He can’t help it!

“A friend told me someone needed help! Not sure who they are, but they told me and you were on the way!” There was a smile on his face when he said that. “So you’re coming along to help out too!”

“H-huh...? These packages...?” Well, perhaps Chihiro had gotten a little overconfident with them, after one delivery, but... deflating in self-imposed humiliation, he didn’t think he was handling it so badly that someone would have to help out. Sure enough, he’d gotten the carrying part down this time just fine, arms full... though he couldn’t really see where he was going.

As loathe as he was to admit it, yet again, perhaps she wasn’t wrong. Adjusting the bundles in his arms, he peers up at her over the top of the pile, face flushed. Really... shouldn’t he be able to handle this? “Uum... that’s...” Time and time again, he guessed he would be proved horribly weak after all, even if this stranger obviously meant well. He glances to one side. “I-I’m really doing fine! Honest! But, one of these shouldn’t be shaken around too much, so... if you could carry that one and make sure it doesn’t move, it’d probably be okay.”

If he could still carry the heavier stuff – if he could pretend he could manage just that on his own – couldn’t he survive with his dignity intact? “Uum... it’s the small one on the top.” With that flimsy excuse justifying it to himself, he can’t help feeling he’s just inconveniencing others again. “S-sorry...”

“Ow... Ow!”

THUMP!

The swinging of a large stone fist caved in the skull of a particularly feisty zombie that had been trying to bite his way through his tough hide. He was clearing a way for the lady to get to her ride, having become a bit distracted by talking to her. Before he knew it, a zombie was gnawing on his wrist like a damned mosquito. “Y’know, you should probably get outta here while ya can.” He muttered, glancing over his shoulder at a small group of the bitey bastards stumbling their way, groaning loudly.

“Ah, shut it already. I’ll come give you your lumps in a second.”

It could be worse, a lot worse actually. These guys seemed pretty weak compared to what she was used to back home, but maybe she was just very lucky for not running into some powerful enemy. 

It’s safe to assume that she’s got rather the cocky attitude when handling these creatures, a moment of distraction, and that’s how her right arm got trapped between a zombie’s jaw. Nothing that a good punch from ember celica couldn’t solve, though.

Yang looked around whilst dusting off her outfit only to notice that she wasn’t alone.

“You’ve got some nerve laughing at me when you’re unarmed.” or so she thought. But she was laughing at herself. “You good, dude? We should keep moving if we don’t wanna get surrounded."
