Dan has another song that I worked on, a cover of John Cale’s “Burned Out Affair.” I enjoyed working on it and it opened me up to more of his work (you can here his original here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EF9gyPC6z6g ) and hopefully I did the song justice. Dan produced it with more of an ambient, dreamy style which I think works well with the lyrics.
This song was one of those tricky keys where the low notes were juuuuust slightly out of my range, so I sang it in both octaves. I wasn’t sure how Dan would use the pieces but I think it’s interesting how he chose to bring the lower octave in on certain parts!
So I hope you enjoy, and thanks again to Dan for working with me again! Always a pleasure.
You might have heard Dan’s other song I posted, Convention Love, or this might be the first you’re hearing his work, but either way please check him out! He continues to amaze me with his compositions.
Undone is the second song we’ve worked on together (currently working on a third!) and Dan has a really interesting way of creating a song. He sends me the track, which is usually a standard guitar/drum mix, and I send the vocals back. He then begins to craft an entirely new song based on the vocals I sent, so the end result is nothing like what I originally recorded to. It’s always so fascinating to hear what he comes up with!
This song is very ambient, a good song to put on if you want to just relax and not focus on anything in particular. My voice is blended within the music bed, so it’s almost better to let your mind hear whatever it wants to, rather than focus on my voice. If you have headphones, even better! We hope you enjoy our journey.
This is a remix of Alex Party’s song “Don’t Give Me Your Life,” which is a great song and I was amazed at what DJ McB was able to do with my vocals. I basically sang the original song and sent it over, having no idea of what it would be when it was done. His remixing skills are incredible! To hear the original, go here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mOmB8CMasdo
Thanks so much to DJ McB for the opportunity and the project!
I was contacted by a musician who wanted to do a cover of “I’ll Be Back” by The Beatles. Honestly, I was nervous. Covers are fun but a lot of pressure trying to recreate a song and make it at least as good as the original. Otherwise what’s the point, right? I love what Kelly did with the song, and I hope it does the original version justice.
I learned a lot about how The Beatles construct their harmonies through this song. We have three parts here, and one part is literally the same note throughout the whole song. It clashes at times with the other parts, but works and makes it more interesting. This is definitely something I’ll keep in mind when I write/arrange in the future!
I’m incredibly thankful to Kelly for finding me and using me to complete this work! I hope you like it as well.
I'm beginning to lose track of all the bands and artists that have been wanting me for projects lately!! I think I'm in 3 or 4 bands at the moment... I've also got to do vocals for a folk song, an EDM artist, a couple of metal bands, and some acoustic tracks as well! I'm so excited :D There's even potentially money inolved in a couple of them!!
