Bingfan Promptober - Day 15: Bleeding
Yue Qingyuan receives Shen Qingqiu’s head disciple at the foyer to his quarters, strewn with dust and documents. In his arms is a package. The parcel contains a letter. As the young man—Ming Fan, probably, Yue Qingyuan tries to remember everyone around Shen Qingqiu—dictates the contents of the letter, Yue Qingyuan unfurls the wet, odor-saturated wrapping.
“Does Zhangmen-shibo like this lord’s present?” Luo Binghe taunted them both.
It was a cruel package, indeed. One that contained the still-bleeding severed legs of Xiao Jiu. Making his own precious head disciple deliver the letter was likely an unforeseen bonus.
Ming Fan’s face went white.
A qin’s metal string snapped with a crescendo of force.
Yue Qingyuan is restrained and graceful. Yue Qingyuan is wise and powerful. Yue Qingyuan is the caregiver of his martial siblings—their gentle leader.
Smells like fresh meat.
Luo Binghe had some nerve, thinking he could also whisk Xiao Jiu’s head disciple off to torture in a pit of ants. He also requests that Yue Qingyuan deliver himself to save Him.
“When I saw you again, I had hoped that Yue Qi died instead,” said Shen Jiu’s eyes, boiling with liquid hate.
“Why didn’t you save me?” asked Shen Qingqiu.
“Why didn’t you save us?” asked the corpses of Cang Qiong’s Peak Lords and disciples.
“It’s a trap,” said the young man in Qing Jing disciple robes—the intended Peak Lord of the next generation. Ming Fan was groomed to become the sect’s future tactician by the most seasoned master for the job.
“It’s a trap,” warns Shen Qingqiu’s severed legs. Blood drips down snow-white calves. Yue Qingyuan wants to vomit.
“It’s a trap,” said Luo Binghe with a smile, because it was obvious from the beginning. “And I’m grateful you fell for it, Yue Qingyuan.” Ten-thousand arrows notched toward him, aimed to obliterate him and leave nothing left.
But he raised Xuan Su and wrenched apart the heavens.
