Shamilia and her staff.
“Well, shall I leave you until you’re in a more harmonious frame of mind?”
Sham’s grip on her bottle did not lessen, and nor did her eyes move from Asher’s face.
‘Trust me, this is fucking harmonious. I’ve been warned about you. You want to see inharmonious, you come a bit closer.’
As venomous as the words were, however, there was definitely anticipation in her eyes. Clearly the prospect of a scuffle was more appealing than anything else she might have planned for the evening, and she wasn’t too concerned over what pretence she used to start one.
Me but if I made my first sona from Hollow Knight.
Snail Shamans are cool.
♡ 1. offer a wholehearted hug (reverse!)
‘You look down, sera.’
Sham flung herself down into the chair beside Nelle and threw out an arm, the one not clutching her jug. The gesture, although fuelled by no small amount of mazte, was not unkind, and she offered a friendly grin to accompany it.
‘Why not tell aunt Sham about it? Is it Oran? He bothering you again? He’s a fucking s’wit. Give him a good hard kick, that’ll stop him.’
[👻☢️🐇! :3c]
👻- For something that scares or disturbs them, but they refuse to tell anyone
Oran is privately unsettled by a lot of the more aggressive creatures in Morrowind, not least because most of them are resistant to the fireballs he throws at them when under attack. Their shape doesn’t help much, either, since a lot of the fauna he grew up with in Cyrodiil had a more reasonable mouth:body ratio.
Admitting this to the Dunmer crew is absolutely out of the question. He would undoubtedly find an alit waiting beside his bunk the next time they went to sea. He’ll settle for mocking their wariness around horses, instead.
(Or, for a more general fear common to most of the longer-serving crew: old age. All of them are starting to feel it, but none of them will come out and admit it or suggest that maybe it’s time they quit while they’re ahead.)
☢️- For a controversy or scandal they have been able to keep mostly under wraps;
The crew are a walking controversy and enjoy making scandal as public as possible.
Although there was the time they unwittingly attacked a Redoran sloop in the belief it was a Sadras privateer. R’khan had to pull a lot of strings and call in a lot of favours to keep the Runaway Scamp’s reputation in Blacklight intact.
🐇- For a secret item they keep (stuffed animal, comfort object, etc)
It isn’t exactly a secret that Sham’s favourite pair of earrings are the crystal drops given to her by her mother, but it is a secret that she attaches a lot of sentimental value to them, rather than just thinking of them as conventionally valuable and attractively shiny. They are the only real link she has to her family and life in the Summerset Isles.
The job of the mages aboard the Runaway Scamp isn't only to attack and defend in an engagement, nor to lend their levitation spells for cargo and clairvoyance for navigation. Since the Scamp typically sails through the Sea of Ghosts, ice is a major and frequent threat; if the hull hit a berg, the brig would be lost. The mages can melt through a moderately sized berg encountered suddenly if there's no time to change course, and will sometimes enchant the hull with a modified version of fire cloak, which melts through the smaller floes off Skyrim's coast. This has to be cast carefully, under Sham's close supervision - improper casting or supervision could cause a fire, which would be just as devastating as hitting the ice. R'khan and Vilayn rarely give their permission for this to be done because of the potential danger.
Grief
The Scamps have lost more than a few of their own over the centuries, but that doesn’t make it any easier. They each have their own ways of reacting to and dealing with the ensuing grief.
“Someone told me they were going to have a pie-eating contest. Is that true?”
Bo only had to get as far as the word “pie” before most of the crew started looking around hopefully and, in some cases, wandering off into the crowd with no clear destination in mind. Sham hung around long enough to wag a salt-chapped finger at him.
‘There bloody better be or you’re a dead man for getting my hopes up. Ain’t eaten nothing but salted beef this past fortnight. Any idea where to look?’
