I think Nana is supposed to be the passive mother that don't interfere in the MC adventures
But Nana isn’t just passive, she's harmful
Calls Tsuna useless and forget his birthday? Neglects him?
Her whole life is cook and clean and waits Iemitsu
She hurts Tsuna and forces him to spend time with Iemitsu and obey him to make her happy
And INSANE, to the point of even self-harm and crying to force everyone to play house, or even suicide if Iemitsu dies before her (that sounds in character)
To the point of FAINTING when faced reality (thats Canon in manga)
To the point of having a psycotic breaks and mental breakdowns when faxed with truth
She's not a adult. She is a immature tradwife that wants a fantasy family and will hurt and abuse her child to get it.
But she is frail mentally and physically, depressed and has a abuser for a husband, so its harder to deal with than a plain evil mom.
Tsuna has to protect her from Iemitsu and herself! And suffer to make her happy and fit her fantasy!
Nana did sees Tsuna as a pawn too in a different way, Iemitsu's son to get him back home and regain his affections and her happy family.
She won’t allow him to leave and get a better life, she wants him to stay forever trapped in that hell so she can have her husband back and play house with their 'son'.
She is five minutes from having a mental break and harming herself, caretaking with her needs to be harsh.
Nana needs mental help and a good slap across the face and stay AWAY from kids
She is KHR most complex character and barely sane or mentally here
