Selena Quintanilla
I don't know why but I want to talk about the queen of Latino music Selena. God damn I love this women even though she unfortunately passed away in 1995. I was born about 6 to 7 years after her death and 13 day (March 18 is my birthday) before her death date (March 31). Her music is just amazing and I love it. I didn't even know who she was until I saw the movie with Jennifer Lopez who did a great job portraying her. If this women was alive she would be on top of the music industry! It's just so sad such beautiful talent was lost due to a dispute that costed the singer's life. I watch her music videos and I can see that she had a great personality, she was passionate about her career and she loved her fans. I honestly want to meet her in real life or see her concerts. Also being a Latina and a Texan she really shaped our culture and made our music very popular today. Without her, we won't have Jennifer, Shakira, Daddy Yankee and others or catchy songs like "Despacito". She was a great role model for young girls at the times due to Latino music being dominated by male artist and gave a voice for the Latin American community. Songs like "Si Una Vez" (If I once) and "Como la flor" (like a flower) are really good and talk about issues such as bad and abusive relationships. I may not understand what she's saying all the time but I get the message due to my little understanding of Spanish and my Spanish class. And seeing people on Tumblr posting pictures of her warms my heart because she made such an impact on the world and she has so many people who loved her. I think her family is proud of her for what she's done. I'm happy to know that a person like her existed and shaped everything for the better. It's just heartbreaking to know that she's not here anymore and she with many others in the 1990s like Easy-e and Tupac are now gone. Anyways sorry for the long post, I just want to write about Selena for some reason. I'm planning on making an animation or mmd animation(?) of one of her songs. Well goodbye for now!
