❝ WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE? ❞ her words are slurred, cheeks painted red while brown eyes are glossed over. it’s late, and they should both be in bed by now. the others retired from the bar HOURS ago, leaving the two women alone at the table, enveloped by the dark. it’s at this hour the walls begin to crumble; those she’d shakily built up years ago, to guard herself. ( from who? others? HERSELF? ) it certainly does not help that they’ve been drinking all night, so the words slip out easily. nothing is holding them back anymore.
❝ WHY HAVEN’T YOU LEFT ALREADY? ❞ why haven’t you grown tired of me yet? never leaves her lips, but it hangs in the air between them. she takes another sip of her drink, so used to the burn as it drips down her throat that it now goes UNNOTICED. ❝ tell me, i wanna know. ❞
