Project Hound ... Sherlock’s experiment (1 + 2)
Or ... that one occasion, when John is rendered completely impotent by the assumed presence of the Hound. He doesn’t even use his gun. Instead he hides behind the bars of a coverd cage, terrified of his own breath.
Mycroft about John in ASIP: “You have an intermittent tremor in your left hand. Your therapist thinks it’s post-traumatic stress disorder. She thinks you’re haunted by memories of your military service. Fire her. She’s got it the wrong way round. You’re under stress right now and your hand is perfectly steady. You’re not haunted by the war, Doctor Watson ... you miss it.”
Interesting discrepancies. Another moment when a metaphorical interpretation makes much more sense than superficial reading.
