Superphandom AU - Shoe
Boy!Zoe and Shauna fic - superphandom AU -Shauna Shauna sat in the huge, beautiful gardens of the housing complex and looked around her. She was alone except for the plants. Before everything - the meet-up, the gas, the powers - she had practically hated being outside always aching to be alone in her room with a laptop and a cup of tea. Now, the garden was the only place she could get any peace. She'd had to leave her old home, her old room behind and move to the government complex almost a month ago but it still didn't feel real to her. The garden was square-shaped, enclosed by the back wall of each of the four buildings of the complex: Housing, Educational, Administrative and Research. The housing building was the biggest, the massive grey block were they all lived and slept and ate now. Shauna had always wished to be able to live with all her Internet friends - Bert, Flora, and of course Zoe - but that wish had come true in the weirdest way. It made her head spin sometimes and she was glad of the solitude the garden provided. Another thing she couldn't get used to was her power. Stretching out her hand, she stared at a nearby bonsai tree that swayed gently in the breeze on a thin stem-like trunk. Using the tiniest morsel of mental effort, Shauna made the tree raise two of its branches above itself and was them around. 'Are you making the tree dance,' said an unfamiliar voice. Shauna whirled around; the tree stopped dancing behind her when she saw who had spoken. It was a boy (a rare sight in the Superphandom), medium height with short, straight brown hair and dancing eyes. He was wearing a tight grey t-shirt and black jeans over chunky Vans trainers. He was, Shauna realized suddenly, really hot. 'Hi Zoe,' she said. 'Why are you being a boy?' Zoe - the boy - stared at her weirdly for a moment then shook his head. 'I felt like it. I like being a boy mostly. Like in Hannah Montana, I have the best of both worlds.' Shauna laughed, shuffling over on the bench to let her friend sit down beside her. Throughout all of the madness, Zoe never failed to make her laugh. 'When I'm a boy, I prefer to be called Zachary. It just feels less weird,' Zoe said, smiling sideways at Shauna. 'Thats not weird, is it?' Shauna rested her head on Zachary's shoulder. He was more muscular than girl Zoe, more comfortable somehow. 'A magic gas made you be able to change gender and I can control plants and you're asking me if it's weird to call you Zachary?' Shauna laughed. 'Nothing can ever be weird any more. Or maybe everything is weird. I don't know.' Zachary put his arm around her, a friendly gesture - I mean, thought Shauna, it's not a romantic thing web he's actually my female best friend, right? - and they snuggled for a bit, staring at the sunset over the rooftops. -Zoe Zoe woke up a bit earlier than usual, and upon hearing Shauna snoring slightly in the bunk below her, she eased herself out of bed and made her way to the bathroom. She was always glad to have been assigned a room with Shauna; they were lucky. Most people had swapped room assignments so they'd ended up with their best friends in the end but Zoe and Shauna had actually been out together from the start. Zoe had joked that it was fate. In the bathroom, Zoe changed into Zachary. It took about forty seconds for the painless process to complete itself; all Zoe had to do was visualize being a boy and suddenly it would happen; a tingle in her muscles and a tightening in her chest. Zachary was taller and broader than Zoe in girl form so the pajama top and shorts she was wearing became a little too tight. Zachary pulled off the top and regarded himself in the mirror. He didn't have anything near a six pack but his stomach was flat. At first Zoe had enjoyed looking at herself naked as a boy but now he was used to it so it held no interest for her. In fact, everything about being Zachary felt normal now. Except for one thing; Zachary was straight. A straight boy. When in male form, Zoe was attracted to girls. She'd only noticed last week when he (as in Zachary) found himself checking out the cute new FEMALE scientist. It had been a shock at first but now Zoe found it kind of school. She often wondered if Zoe would be attracted to Zachary or vice versa. 'Life is so weird,' he whispered to himself, running his hands through his cropped, mahogany hair. Just then, Shauna appeared in the bathroom doorway, sleepy eyed and confused. Her gaze was locked on Zachary's unclothed torso. 'Um,' she said. 'Can you put a top on please, Zoe.' 'It's Zachary,' said Zachary with a grin, swivelling his hips flirtatiously as a joke. 'Am I making you uncomfortable Shauna? AYYY.' Shauna didnt seem at all amused; in fact, she looked uncomfortable, backing away from the bathroom shyly. 'Whatever. Just hurry up, I want to shower before school.' Zachary stared after her, confused. What had he done wrong? He obviously hadn't been serious about flirting with Shauna; they were best friends! It wouldn't work out. It was ridiculous. Zoe wasnt even attracted to Shauna that way. But Zachary, though. Male body, same mind, different feelings. Totally different feelings towards Shauna.
