Another nightmare for izuru will i ever stop writing these.
sdr2 spoilers the whole shabang
The first thing you see when you open your eyes is her.
Her eyes are bright with a morbid interest as she looks down at you, her hair falling down on either side of you and blocking your vision so you can’t see your surroundings. A few pieces of your own hair are in your face, but you don’t care enough to brush them away.
You realize you’re lying down on some sort of table (definitely not a mattress, it’s too hard), and she’s leaning over you. (The scenario seems oh so familiar but you just can't place why.) Her breath ghosts over your face as she grins down at you. Despite the repulsiveness of the situation you don't look away. Your neck feels stiff, as if a single move might snap it. But it’s not some outside force keeping you in this dreadful position. For some reason you feel if you look away she'll win.
What will she win?
You don't know. You don't care. You only feel an almost instinctual need to keep your eyes /open/ and staring directly back at her.
"Come onnnnn, Kamukura-kun!!! Close your eyes!" Enoshima’s voice is disgustingly happy.
"Why?" Your voice is surprisingly steady although the rest of your body trembles. Why am I so scared? She can't do anything to me!
"Why?" Enoshima repeats your question, then leans in even closer. Uncomfortably close. "Isn't that what you want to do?"
What was that supposed to mean?
Perhaps your face revealed your confusion, because she continues without prompting. "Don't you wish you could just shut out all this despair you caused?" Her voice turns sickly sweet and almost crooning, and she caresses your cheek lightly with her hand. "It could all go away. You could forget everything. Ah, you're quite the expert on forgetting, aren't you Hajime-kun?"
That name...
The way she addresses you using his name and while smiling like that... It fills you with an almost incomprehensible rage and you swat away her hand as if it were poisonous. There's no way... no way in hell you'll ever listen to her when she's using that name.
You can feel yourself begin to tremble with anger and you lack the self control to try and contain it. Instead you let it run through your body, making your fingers itch with the need to punch something, your legs shake with the want to kick something and overall you just want to destroy something because that name is the absolute worst and she's using it to refer to you.
And all she does is smile.
She keeps smiling and finally leans back away from your face which you have tried oh so hard to keep neutral.
You can see where you are now. An empty classroom, chairs stacked neatly on all of desks except for the ones you're laying on. Enoshima keeps on smiling as you sit up and feel the blood rush to your head, keeps on smiling as you stand up to your full height-- ten centimeters taller than her-- and keeps on smiling as you put your fingers around her throat.
You want to kill her. You want to take her life, right here, right now, but something inside you knows it’s already too late because she’s caused enough damage to satisfy her for a lifetime.
You haven't broken eye contact with her since the beginning and she doesn't seem to mind keeping up with this absurd staring contest, even while your hands threaten to kill her. She simply grabs your wrists, not to pull your hands away but instead to bring them tighter and this is messed up this is so messed up you shouldn't be doing this at all and yet you can't stop because she's grinning. She's mocking you, and even though she could die if you just tightened your hands you don't feel in control of the situation at all.
She seems to be controlling everything. She is controlling everything, a point she makes when she says: "Is this the result of the 'Ultimate Hope Project'? Not some shining beacon of hope... just another despairing human!"
And then she laughs.
And then she's gone.
Your fingers are squeezing closed a second too late on empty air, and you get caught off balance.
Your anger seems to disappear with her, you hadn’t even realized how consuming the feeling of it was until it was gone, and you’re left feeling cold and empty.
Well, maybe not entirely empty.
There’s a pit deep in your stomach, a feeling of terror, and it travels up your spine as you turn around to take a good look at the room.
There’s no one with you. You’re totally alone, standing between rows of identical desks. The door is closed and bolted shut, and although the windows have no shades over them the entire room is bathed in artificial light. The blackboard stands at the front of the room, and you shiver as you read the words written sloppily in it’s top right corner.
RESERVE COURSE CLASSROOM 3
Reserve course?
The words sound foreign but slightly familiar, like a forgotten ritual from your childhood. Almost unconsciously you repeat the words out loud.
“Reserve… course…”
“That’s right.” A very familiar voice sounds from behind you, making the pit of fear grow large enough so you can feel it in your throat.
Nagito?
It’s most certainly Komaeda’s voice that speaks to you, but when you turn around he isn’t there.
“Where-?”
“Oh, I’m not here!” Komaeda talks with the same inflection as Enoshima and it makes you want to vomit. “I don’t want to be in the same room as someone from the reserve course.”
It’s definitely not Komaeda talking, but the words sting anyway.
“That’s wrong. You’re wrong! I have nothing to do with the reserve course. That’s all him.”
Him.
You barely remember him, in fact, the only thing that stick with you is his name. You wish it didn’t. But in this wretched school it seems to follow you wherever you go.
“Is it really?” Komaeda sounds as though he’s grinning, but instead of his usual calming smile you envision Enoshima’s horrible one.
“Yes!”
You shout the word as though simply denying things you don’t want to hear will get you out of this situation. And maybe it works because Komaeda-Enoshima doesn’t reply. The room is silent again. You’re alone again.
