So the manga translation I was reading must have been really off for the Nanao and Kyoraku thing, it didn't have anything about Nanao liking Kyoraku that way. And it had all of Kyoraku's flirting clearly joking and not serious with her.

Nope, I think your translation is more on point! I'd like to point out that I don't speak Japanese so everything I know it's from translations, but in the official one, I think, Nanao says "the man I admire would think a curse is ridiculous". (I am talking about ch. 651). So yes you're right! Sorry!

Although I don't agree with the second part of your ask. Imagine you see in real life an uncle "joking" like this with his kid niece? I wouldn't find it funny. Yes he's definitely joking because he's like this (tm) but what a funny way to kill time??? He's more or less like this even when she's a child and he's seen her growing up considering she was in his division and he must have looked after the niece somehow. Then again, manga characters have a flirty" attitude as a joke because characters are...like that, so if it doesn't bother you, I understand.

Anyway, since I think this ask was prompted by the ShunNao ask, even she doesn't say he likes him, it doesn't really change my opinion on it. They're still relatives (if I didn't misunderstand that too ahah) and the age gap is still too much for me.
