According to a document filed yesterday, “ICE anticipates that 135 male detainees and approximately 82-84 female detainees will be transferred to the NWIPCfrom Border Patrol holding facilities at the southern border this week.” The 82 female detainees were exposed to COVID-19 on July 2nd 212 people are currently detained at the NWDC. This transfer will bring the population to approx. 427 JOIN US SUNDAY 6/13 @12PM outside the NWDC for a Free the Land Free the People Solidarity Event We should be emptying these cages, not filling them! Julio has been detained in the Northwest Detention Center for almost a year and a half. He suffers from diabetes and high cholesterol and is very worried about getting covid-19. He is a father of four and has been denied bail twice. "Hi, my name is Evelyn Leon Nunez. My dad has been detained in the Northwest Detention Center for over a year now. Me and my family have suffered through a lot with the separation of us not being with our dad. Now that the covid-19 is around me and my family fear for this life because he has diabetes and high blood pressure and we’re afraid that one day he can die in there. We all ask for your help and support to free my dad and others that are detained in there and suffering with him and for us to be back home with our families. Thank you and god bless you all." Julio's daughter "Hello! My name is Cesar Leon. I’ve been held at the detention center for a period of 15 months. Since then, ICE has denied me twice the right to leave on bail. And now, with Covid-19 I am very afraid that I could die in this place and never again see my family as I am a father of a family with 4 children, one of them with down syndrome. This worries me very much as I am a vulnerable person due to the diabetes and high cholesterol that I suffer from. Please we ask for the help and support of everyone. Thank you." - Julio More people have died in ICE custody through May of 2020 than all of 2019.
