I'm sick so have some sick whumpee thoughts! (Content Warning: noncon whump under the cut)
- Whumpee shaking from a fever, curled up and trying to stay warm. Maybe they're on the floor, maybe in a basement, but they weren't given a blanket or anything soft to sleep with, and they're miserable.
- Whumpee losing their voice and being unable to answer whumper when they ask a question. Whumper getting mad, or mocking them for it, demanding an answer as they try to make more sound than a rasp or a wheeze escape.
- Whumper using whumpee's sickness to manipulate them. If they behave, they'll get their medicine. Or maybe something more subtle, becoming more doting and sweet and caring for whumpee to make them lower their guard.
- Whumper being extra cruel to whumpee, angry that they'd be so weak as to get sick.
- Whumper enjoying the effect being sick has had on whumpee, and deciding to prolong it, or even planning to intentionally get them sick in the future when they misbehave.
(Content Warning: noncon whump under the cut)
- Whumpee being too weak from their sickness to fight off whumper when they get too close and start to touch them.
- Similar to one before, but whumper using the fact that whumpee lost their voice as a way to taje advantage and make them feel worse. They aren't saying no- not loud enough to be heard, really- so this isn't bothering them that much, clearly.
- Whumper kissing whumpee and squeezing their throat, telling them that if they even think about coughing on them, they're going to be hurt worse than ever. It's not whumper's fault they're so weak and got sick- why should they have to wait for something they want?
stranger talking on the phone in a public place and they’re so obviously sick, their eyes have dark circles and their voice is husky and just gone and their sniffles are tidal, but the person they’re talking to has just made them laugh and it’s awful, squeaks and gasps and then they’re coughing, phlegmy and thick then dry and hacking, and then sharp, soupy sniffles with their weak laughter interspersed.
with their voice absolutely wrung- “Yes, I’b okay. *sddrff!* …Fucki’g hell.”
Maybe I’m just a little slow or haven’t looked hard enough or in the right places, but I don’t really see much of this trope at all. So let’s write out some scenarios for it ^^!!
• Captured by a bigger threat: The whumper gets taken by someone far more dangerous. Suddenly they’re experiencing the same fear and lack of control they once caused.
• Role reversal through injury/illness: They become physically weak (injured, sick, etc.), forcing them to rely on others, possibly even the person they hurt.
• Betrayal arc: Their own team turns on them, treating them the way they used to treat others.
• Revenge but complicated: The former whumpee has the chance to get even… but realizes it’s not as satisfying as they thought.
• Slow breakdown: Instead of one big moment, it’s gradual, sleep deprivation, stress, guilt, until the “untouchable” one cracks.
There’s plenty more that I ca think of, but this is what I’ll throw in for now. And if I’m being totally honest, this is one of my favorite tropes to experiment with ^^!!
Delierous Zeno got me thinking that since he's got all theses viruses he's probably immune to various poisons, however since viruses can't tell helpful poison (painkillers and most medications, alcohol if you consider it as good) from bad poisons (cyanide, hemlock, all the good stuff)
So Zeno getting hit with a bioweapons venom is probably the first time he's ever been in an altered state of mind.
Lol Luis we all know if zeno needed surgery or something like that the connections wouldn't bother with anesthesia and just go for paralyzers instead.
So I had the thought of Zeno having appendicitis (a organ with know currently known use just gives up and kills itself in your body, fatal if untreated, if your a human and not a hyper regenative b.o.w. that is, but is easily removed from the body with surgery)
So Zeno's just suffering with extreme stomach pain and Leon has to drag him to the doctor where they find out what's going on. his appendix keeps rupturing, normally fatal, but regenerates back because of his abilities (also bad).
So Zeno's trying to just shrug it off (falling) while the b.s.a.a is trying to find something strong enough to actually knock Zeno out so they can get the doctors to operate, (Leon won't let them touch him until theyve got Zeno some pain meds)
What a snack for the buns to chew on!
Why would The Connections bother with trying to find an anaesthetic for a B.OW. when you can just strap them down really well and let them pass out naturally mid-proceedure? It's a feature, not a bug. Cost effective and eco-friendly! They're saving thousands on anesthesiologist fees.
Zeno has been known to get tipsy on girl's nights with the D.S.O girlies and is hilariously affected by some substances (cough Jake's blunts cough). But he also never suffers any ill effects from monching on screaming emergency rations who've been god-knows-where, nor infections from the ridiculous wounds he's tanked in a fight, so he must have something going on.
Ah yes, the fuck you if I'm going down I'm taking you with me organ. Hands up who was terrified of this thing popping off as a child because learning about it was like being told there's a ticking biological bomb somewhere in your abdomen. /the author's specific trauma
I'm like 90% sure if Wesker even had an appendix, it was preemptively yoinked out of him. Can't have your perfect eugenics program children running around with vestigial organs. That would defeat the purpose of a superior breed.
Resident Evil is fond of its dramatic hurty tummy aches, so Zeno can get hit with it too, as a treat. (treat for us, not for him. god no).
Maybe his recklessness in the field finally catches up with him and makes it so that his internal organs heal wrong after a particularly gruesome injury, leading to acute appendicitis. he's cute everywhere, it was only a matter of time before his appendix caught up to the trend.
At first Zeno's successfully brushing it off as healing pains, except they get worse instead of better. Leon goes from being exasperated at his pet B.O.W. for once again flinging himself into trouble to being concerned as the day wears on. His pet clone is pale, lethargic, trembly, and trying to pretend he's not in pain. The pretending part is very normal for him, but being in pain this long after his injuries have healed is not.
"I am fine, Handler." — looks like a stiff breeze could knock him into his grave.
Come evening, Zeno is not eating dinner. He is curled up somewhere looking wet and pathetic. Leon's covering him with his weighed blanket and stroking his hair while ringing Rebecca for an emergency appointment. Zeno is stuffing his face against his side, trying to muffle pained noises and the saddest little whimpers.
Leon: Be honest, where does it hurt?
Zeno: (shakes head in Denial Of Hurting™)
Leon: Okay, then. This is an official handler order. Where does it hurt?
Zeno:
Zeno: stomach
Leon: Thank you.
He relays the symptoms to Rebecca. Rebecca is a clever bean who wouldn't discount the possiblity that a B.O.W. can come down with appendicitis. She tells Leon he needs to pack up his Zeno and come to the D.S.O's medical center: she'll meet him there for a consult. Gotta be the D.S.O because they're the ones whose staff are inoculated against Zeno's virus. And if her hunch is right, they're gonna need it.
Leon is bundling his shivery little idiot into the car, blanket and all, and zooming off with him. Zeno is too miserable to do anything but be a shrimp in the backseat. Leon's throwing casual reassurances over his shoulder while slamming the gas. They are tearing into the parking lot so fast the car goes flying a couple inches when they hit a speed bump. It's testament to how poorly Zeno feels that he can't even muster the willpower to be terrified by the violent bumps and jostles.
Local D.S.O. agent comes sprinting into the veterinarian medical center carrying his sick dog a whole-ass bioweapon; security too afraid to stop him; staff confused yet concerned.
Just to make it worse, Zeno is straight-up not having a good time. He's delirious from pain and therefore very scared and disoriented by being brought into a sterile, lablike environment. He is NOT staying on the examination table; he keeps trying to crawl back into Leon's arms like a squirmy little dog. He panics if his handler tries to step back. Leon is cradling his head and giving him soothing pets while Rebecca and whatever brave volunteers she's corralled into this try to examine him.
No need to ask him where it hurts; he gives a terrified sort of whimper and tries to crawl into Leon's ribcage when the suspect area for appendicitis is pressed on.
Former lab experiment resorting to traumatized stray body language, my beloved.
Except instead of having nowhere safe to go, the designated safety is Leon and he's attempting to attach himself like velcro.
I'm sure this blatant display of where Zeno's trust lies during his most vulnerable moments isn't making his handler try not cry whatsoever.
Some blood drawing and one (1) wiggly ultrasound scan later, Rebecca is able to confirm her worst suspicions; a fucked up, mutated version of appendicitis. That bitch is in a perpetual state of rupture, and his virus-enhanced body is confused because ??? foreign??? but also me??? is me but also is not??? and just generally being very confused and screaming.
Leon is also very confused and screaming, but, like, internally.
Is something like this even supposed to be physically possible? No, Rebecca informs him. Are they dealing with it anyway? Yes. Yes they are, immediately. They need to perform surgery. What's the strongest drugs the D.S.O. has at its disposal?
Zilch, is the answer. Absolutely fucking nothing. Zeno's always been such a good boy that they've never needed them. Rebecca is frowning. What about those frenzies? Surely you needed to drug him at least once. No, he always listens to his handler and lets himself be restrained.
Tragic; local resident cryptid needs a night-night shot; D.S.O. medical team left scratching their heads. "Uhh. Melatonin gummies?"
Leon is so desperate, he's considering a breaking-and-entering spree into several evil laboratories of interest to look for some kind of heavy drug that'll work on B.O.W.s. His own squad is talking him down from this, barely. Not really. They're fighting for their lives. They are playing tug of war and they are losing.
Not one to be dissuaded by resource scarcity, Rebecca is determinedly dissecting the melatonin gummies to see what she can do.
Perhaps one of Leon's own men knows they need to keep their captain from doing something massively stupid tonight, and the usual backup brain cell is lying in a hospital cot. So they call Chris Redfield, give him the cliff notes, and then shove the phone at Leon in a coordinated three prong attack, so he can't duck. This was not what their formations training was for btw.
It just so happens, the B.S.A.A. is in charge of one (1) very powerful little bioweapon and a lot less relaxed about their contingency plans. Chris's Hound Wolf Squad has access to exactly the type of drugs they need to knock Zeno out, and plenty more to keep him happy and comfortable and generally absolutely stoned off his knocker until he heals.
Squad of wolves burst into the D.S.O medical center being shepherded by a frazzled-looking Captain Redfield; swarmed by nurses attempting to take blood pressures. they recognize a bitch who's about to pull a kennedy when they see one.
Chris personally escorts the drugs to Rebecca. He will not talk about how he got access to them so fast, being that they're extremely controlled and classified substances. His squad doesn't know squat, either. Plausible deniability and all.
They stormed into the nearest facility in full gear and yoinked it before anyone could check credentials and figure out they didn't have the remotest hint of clearance or approval, is what i mean.
I think by the time they get those drugs pumped into Zeno, he's just happy to finally be checking out from this nightmare. He doesn't care what's happening anymore all he knows is the Hurt is replaced by Eepy and then he's. gone. conked. he ain't getting back up. it's so very wrong to see him unconscious and being hastily prepped for surgery, and so much of a relief.
With Zeno's history in mind, there's nobody Leon would trust more with this than Rebecca. He's still a nervous wreck, though. He's pacing a hole in the floor. He's getting sympathy from the nurses, despite being the poster boy of biggest pain in their ass any other day of the week. Chris is sitting with him in the waiting room. He is getting this worried mother hen (rooster?) to sit down and drink some coffee before he passes out. He is using his imposing physical stature to block him from peeking into the surgical theatre, and then blocking his sneakier attempts to crawl into the vents.
The proposal to renovate the ventilation system because 'when it boils down to it, the current layout is just hamster tunnels for Agent Kennedy' is gaining so much traction ahead of the next budget review.
Eventually Rebecca comes out to tell them that everything is A-OK, they removed the offending appendix, and were able to seal the wound in a way that would ensure it wouldn't grow back, the same way Zeno's piercing is able to stay open. I think Chris would visibly untense and Leon would double-check, then, upon confirmation, break into a beaming smile, crack a terrible joke, and then fucking pass out.
He was being held upright by parental concern and an inadequate amount of caffeine. Maybe the nurses were onto something about blood pressure. They definitely aren't pleased to see him again so soon.
Just for fun, Zeno gets to be completely out of it when he wakes up. He's so loopy. He can hear rainbows. He forgets to wonder where his handler is because he's busy hallucinating flying trinkets. Rebecca tries to explain what happened to him and that they've had to remove his appendix, which she assures will be destroyed like any other contaminated medical waste. Zeno seems to focus, listen. When she asks if he has any questions, he solemnly nods and asks her when it's going to hatch into a turtle.
I note that the post-op painkillers have induced euphoria and general disinhibition in the patient; an interesting development considering his bioweapon physiology, Rebecca writes in her report. If he inquires into the wellbeing of a turtle, say yes and change the subject.
What if Time is injured, sick and perhaps a bit delirious with fever... And Malon is staying with him and singing to him to help him rest and stay calm...
