All good things come to an end. She knew that. She was trying to prolong the ending of this certain one, but didn’t manage to. Now here she was, standing in the hallway of the apartment Calum and his best friend share. It wasn’t too hot today, considering that they were in mid July in Los Angeles. But the awkward atmosphere made the air thick and hard to breathe in. She watched as Calum ran back and forth from the entrance to his room, seeming to have forgotten to pack half of his utilities.

This past month was for lack of a better term, fucking amazing. Her being on a break from college allowed her to spend her time in L.A with her boyfriend who she rarely saw. In this rare occasion, Calum’s band was staying the whole month in the city, working on the new album. Every single second that he wasn’t with his band, he was with her. They got closer and even more in love than before, but it all ended too soon and they had to go on their promo tour now, and sadly, Kathleen couldn’t come with. 

“Okay, I think I’m finally done.” He sighed, closing his suitcase and looking to the girl who sat quietly on the couch.

“God bless.” Calum rolled his eyes at the comment, siting next to her.

“I didn’t take that long.”

“Almost an hour, babe.” Kathleen smiled at him cheekily to which he shrugged and pulled her closer, attempting to connect his lips with hers but a frown took over his face when she pulled away.

“Don’t. Don’t kiss me and act as if you weren’t about to leave and not see me again in 4 months.” She sighed, not wanting to spend the last few moments with him sad but she couldn’t help herself.

“Babe, we’ll find a way. We always do.” He smiled softly, reaching out to grab her hand but she pulled away once again.

“Well what if we don’t? You’re one of the best things in my life, I really don’t wanna lose you Calum.” Kathleen said, closing her eyes and trying to collect herself since she didn’t wanna cry.

“I’m not giving up on this, on us. Don’t give up on me, please. Don’t give up on us. I’m willing to fight every second to make this work.” Calum was quiet, but he always seemed to know all the right things to say to her.

“I won’t. I’m sorry. We’ll make it work.” She smiled, letting out a little giggle as Calum raised his pinky finger and she crossed hers with it. 

“I love you, okay?” She whispered, bringing their still connected pinkies to her lips and kissing them as in a promise.

“I love you more. It’ll work. It’s you and me, always.”

You pulled your scarf up around your neck and smiled toyourself as you passed the shop window. It’d only been a few weeks since theboy with the black tattoos had wandered into the coffee shop where you pickedup your morning drink before you started your day. He’d picked up your drinkaccidentally and suddenly you were talking about your day with this perfectstranger. The guy who made your palms feel clammy and your heart beat a littleharder than normal. Michael – your silver lining to the long hours you wereabout to work.

He was sat by the window, your order already waiting on thetable so it didn’t cut into the twenty minutes you could steal together. Youknew as soon as you were inside, he’d give you a huge smile and beckon you overlike he didn’t expect you to recognise him from morning to morning. But today,a bunch of your favourite flowers sat on the table alongside your coffee whichonly made you blush as you sat down in front of him.

“I saw these on the way here and remembered they’re yourfavourite,” he said quietly as he clutched the takeaway cup in front of him. “Ihope it’s not too forward.”

You shook your head softly. “No, this is just perfect.”
