🍙 DAY 6: SUMMER 🔥

Sending them to Alola for their honeymoon they deserve it.

I feel like I really got the hang of drawing Kabu throughout the week so yay! (I can almost draw him from memory now I can only do that with Larry and my ocs)

On time?? I know. It's crazy. This is for day six of silverstreakshipping week: Summer.

I imagine that during the summer, the academy treasure hunt isn't going on, so Larry gets a bit of time off from his gym leader duties. He saves up vacation days and sick days so he and Kabu can spend time together. Yes, he's still in a full suit at the beach. Poor man doesn't know how to relax.

🔥🍙Day 1: Confession / Battle🍙🔥

A blazing fire engulfs Centiskorch's long body as he curls himself into a ring, rolling in a blur at his target. In the blink of an eye, Staraptor takes flight, just missing those barreling flames. Kabu watches his opponent with a seasoned Leader's eye. Larry is an experienced Gym Leader as well, but Kabu's thrown him off guard. Larry tenses, fully at attention. This is not the routine series of battle commands he's so used to. Kabu hides his pleased smile as he assumes coach mode.

"Use Brave Bird," Larry orders his hovering Pokemon. Staraptor's body glows with a blue aura, which appears to shield him from the flames. He dives down and straight at Centiskorch, tackling him head-on. Staraptor recoils from the intense attack, shaking off the damage done to himself.

Centiskorch is not in much better shape. "Now, while it's stunned, Fire Spin!" shouts Kabu.

Larry clenches a fist. He's really invested in this battle, and Kabu is pleased to see it. "Quick, Aerial Ace!" he shouts, almost panicked. In a grey blur, Staraptor speeds through the spinning flames to attack Centiskorch directly, beak first. It's extremely effective — Centiskorch wobbles while the flames he's controlling vanish into thin air. And then all nine feet of him collapse to the ground.

"Ah—" Larry says softly, the stunned look having not left his grey eyes.

"Congratulations." Kabu's smile comes out in full force now. "I knew you had a fire in you. We just had to bring it out one way or another."

Larry just pets the back of his Staraptor’s neck, lost in thought. “Huh,” he answers after a moment. “I really didn’t think we’d beat you.”

Staraptor whips around to his trainer with an indignant squawk. “Sorry,” Larry tells him. “But Kabu’s strong. He puts his all into battling, he’s determined to win.”

“In the end, I just couldn’t beat a member of the Elite Four.” Kabu strides across the field to join the winners. “You two are strong as well. I’m quite impressed.” He holds his hand out to Staraptor, and, earning his approval, starts stroking his neck feathers. “I could benefit from training with some of your tactics. There’s still a lot I have to learn.”

“Eh.” Larry shrugs. “I don’t think I do anything that calculated. Just whatever seems best for the situation. Makes sense to me.”

Kabu laughs sharply. “Ha! A genius at work. And he doesn’t even know it. So, per the terms of our wager, it appears I owe you dinner.”

Larry’s stomach lets out an audible growl. “Mm… that’s a good idea. Battles tend to increase my appetite.”

Kabu grins up at him. Larry’s face is expressionless, but Kabu can tell from his eyes (at least, from this angle) that he’s proud of his win and eager for a nice meal.

"Hmm… I'm up for anything, really," Larry says with a shrug.

"Well, what's your favorite dish?"

Larry rubs the back of his neck, staring off to the side. "Honestly? I really like onigiri. They're simple, but you can add just about any flavor you want. Plain ones are good too."

"I know just the place, then. I passed it on my jog this morning. I could go for an onigiri or two myself, now that you mention it. Or some nigiri."

"Tatsugiri's?" Larry asks. "I went there for my first meal in Pasio. It's excellent." He sends his Staraptor back to his ball as the two of them leave the battlefield.

"Glad to hear it! Mind if I grab a shower first? I worked up a bit of a sweat there."

"Uh… I guess not, but you look fine. It's just a friendly bet dinner, not a business meeting."

Kabu laughs softly, shaking his head. "Larry, I've got a bit of a confession to make."

"Oh?"

"I challenged you to a battle and set that wager so I'd have a good reason to ask you to dinner."

Larry blinks. "Mm? You could've just said 'let's go to dinner.' There's no need to overcomplicate things."

"True… but as a fellow Gym Leader, I knew you'd enjoy going up against me. Analyzing my skill, studying my reactions. As I did yours. I think we're on the same page here. I'd like to take you out to dinner… as a date."

"Oh," says Larry. Then his thick eyebrows shoot up to his hairline. "Ohhh."

"What do you say?" Kabu smiles, holding back laughter at how cute he looks stun-spored like that.

"I'd say you want to go out with a boring guy like me?"

"Sure I do. And you're not so boring. I felt your passion on the battlefield, and I know there's more where that came from."

Larry flushes, clearing his throat and loosening his tie. "Guess I'd better go get cleaned up a bit too…"

"That's the spirit." Kabu pats his back. It's great fun making him flustered. This is going to be a delightful evening.

🍙DAY 2: LIVING TOGETHER🔥

Larry’s ranting about work and Kabu’s all ears.

In the Aokabu discord server @torchiclover hosts, we came up with the headcanon that since Larry probably lived through the '80s he'd be really into grunge as a teen/young adult. So he has a few Nirvana shirts.

A little detail that I didn't mention is that I made the face on the Nirvana logo look like Mimikyu because I found a picture of that while looking for a reference. Just a little thing to integrate more into the Pokèmon world.

🍙 DAY 3: ALTERNATE UNIVERSE 🔥

Yeah, vampire x vampire hunter au lets go.

Lore time! Larry was turned into a vampire when he was young and found out how to integrate with society easily, even getting a job at the league. But one day (I’m not sure how yet) he accidentally spreads a vampiric epidemic and turns Paldea into a high-alert modern-victorian hellhole. The league finds out he's a vampire because of this, so he runs away and secludes himself to not hurt anyone else, but the damage has already been done. The league closes off the league building because it's contaminated, Larry sees this and just moves back in and turns it into a combo league building and Victorian castle. For years they have had to fight off vampire spawn and they need reinforcements, so Kabu volunteers and moves to Paldea to help. Then a few missions later he stumbles across Larry chilling somewhere by Medali not hunting or anything. Again, I don't know exactly what happens after that but there are a lot of very gay feelings between them and they are both confused as to why.

Alright now that's over, I modified vampires a little bit so stick with me.

Vampires are not limited to humans for blood! They can drink the blood of any warm-blooded creature, mainly mammals, like a Chupacabra. They can also eat berries because fruitbats (humans still taste the best though)

There are vampire spawns and then true vampires. True vampires are what Larry is, typical Hollywood vampires. Vampire spawns are more like animals, they don't have much cognitive thought other than animalistic desires and following their leader, Larry. They're kind of like dogs in the sense that they can be trained to do tasks and stuff. Dogs with rabies.

Vampires are killed/repelled by the typical things, sunlight, garlic, wooden stakes, and decapitation. Some things I've changed are one, vampires can only be damaged in combat by the stakes or silver weapons; two, crosses and holy water do nothing, it's just an outdated legend. Most people don't know this because when they do use it, they're just startled and/or confused so they're vulnerable, people: three, vampires can only be burned by the magical fire from Pokèmon, no man or nature-made fires can hurt vampires; four, I will not be implementing the rule that vampires can only attack you if you invite them into your house, but I will implement the scattering of seeds or grain to distract vampires. Some stories say if you scatter seeds, vampires are compelled to count them. This only applies to Larry though since vampire spawns don't have the cognitive ability to count, and it is just the autistic Larry thing to do; and five, only vampire spawns are affected by sunlight. I only really did this so there's a sense of suspense even though the league knows who the vampire is. The general public doesn't know because the league is bad at communicating.

All vampires can turn into bats (or bat Pokèmon idk) Larry can stay in his bat form for much longer.

When a true vampire settles somewhere, vampire spawns are drawn to the location and it serves as a home base. Some vampires are lone wolves (or bats in this case) but most serve under Larry.

Alright, now for some other character tidbits!

Larry is a bit lazier in this au. After he finishes redecorating he doesn't need to do anything because if he wanted food he could just get one of his servants to fetch someone. If Larry does have the rare urge to hunt somewhere, it’s mainly by Medali for the nostalgia and good options, or Cortando since it’s the closest (other than Mesagoza but he has standards he's not killing kids)

Larry cultivates a berry orchard in front of his castle when he doesn't want blood that day. It’s also kind of a maze to get through and only Larry and any spawns that help in the orchard know the paths to get through.

Larry is still a foodie and knows exactly which berries and what blood types work together.

Larry has named every single one of his servants. He has them all written down just in case he forgets.

Kabu is a very skilled vampire hunter, stories of vampires started in Europe after all. With his athleticism and powerful fire Pokèmon he is well-known by hunters worldwide. Any fire type trainer is a danger to vampires with their Pokèmon, but a fire type vampire hunter is a whole new ball game.

Kabu’s a bit more serious and jaded, but he still has that fiery passion that he's known for, it doesn't really show while he's hunting because it’s not really his favorite thing to do you know? It more shows when he's training and battling with his Pokèmon like canon Kabu.

So yeah uh cool gay vampire stuff! We love to see it.
