Lancelot on that Sword Bridge am I right?
theres something so important to me about giving lancelot dogs and having bors and lionel be wary of them because of the greyhound illusion when they were escaping claudas' castle
lancelot fanart cuz he's haunting me rn
Prince Herbert 😍 second ones a wip that I need motivation to finish
some a/g/l media that I (a hater) actually enjoy:
Arthur, King of Time and Space by Paul Gadzikowski: THE gold standard of a/g/l, imho. no one has ever done it like paul gadzikowski. this webcomic ran for a good ten years and nearly half of it is the three of them being adorable and domestic (with plenty of drama sprinkled in, of course. gadzikowski kept the adultery because he's based like that). not really a spoiler to note that the a/l part is canon in this one. some excerpts:
Spear by Nicola Griffith: a fairly short read. the story follows peredur (who is a gnc lesbian in this, if that sweetens the pot) so arthur, gwen and lance are not major characters, but they are canonically poly and quite cute. there's one scene where all three of them are so clearly horny that peredur has to leave the room which. checks out lmao.
The Guinevere Trilogy by Sharan Newman: lancelot appears in books 2 and 3, The Chessboard Queen and Guinevere Evermore, (though I do recommend reading book 1 for context). newman's writing is incredibly tasty and evocative, and her lancelot is SO mentally unwell in a way that's awesome to read. book 2 might honestly be my favorite ever retelling of the guinevere/lancelot affair. while the a/l is not explicitly canon it is still There if you have eyes to see; newman prioritizes arthur/lance over arthur/gwen and gwen/lance over them both. MAJOR content warnings for insensitively written rape and incest in the third book though (the ending of which is frankly bad, so you can just read the first half without missing much).
The Tristan Panciatichiano: already my favorite text even though I'm only halfway through. lancelot and arthur are good friends in this, which is more than you can say of most medlit tbh. there's also this very cute part which Could Mean Nothing:
plus arthur being the only one to recognize lancelot while incognito! (an honor usually reserved for gawain & guinevere):
High Noon Over Camelot: 🎶 GUINEVERE YOURE MY STARS ARTHUR YOURE MY NIGHT 🎶 okay listen I know some people dislike hnoc but personally I adooore it. because what IF the fall of camelot was a western-themed concept album that took place in a dying space station, produced by a roleplaying steampunk band called the mechanisms? you're not going to find something like this anywhere else. another instance of canonically poly a/g/l AND they're all power hungry morally dubious gunslingers. plus they really do have a dynamic you can sink your teeth into (see lyrics from "Judgement" below).
Lancelot by Gwen Rowley: a/g/l is not a thing in gwen rowley's books for [SPOILER] reasons (aside from it being a lancelot/elaine romance), however honorable mention to these bits (arthur being way too invested in lancelot's jousting, epic morgause homophobia moment, and a very tender convo)
also, I know there's a lot more a/g/l happening in films so mutuals please feel free to add on! all linked novels and medlit are sourced via @arthurianpreservationproject
Merlin: This is my lucky day!
Lancelot: One out of twenty thousand, that's not bad.
It's been said before but I really can't get over that Arthur had his tits out to fight Lancelot. Like there was no need for that slutty neckline. We like never see him wear rings again either. Or bracelets. Or even necklaces really? I think it's only a few other times. He fr dressed up to get his ass kicked. Like that was the hope, that Lancelot would beat him. Arthur really has two looks and it's Little Mister Perfect Prince with multiple layers and high collars or Can a Big Strong Man Fuck Me Please™ with his tits out and hair disheveled
