spoilers ahead for v/ln & l/n2. keep in mind that some of what’s talked about below are personal headcanons for my take on six.
six was, in fact, the girl in white from v/ery l/ittle nightmares who had been following around the girl in the raincoat through the nest for most of the game. raincoat girl did save her & six, in turn, pushed the boulder to kill the pretender but it didn’t work & raincoat girl plummeted into the water with the pretender with neither resurfacing. six escaped on the raft & took the raincoat since it was floating on the surface of the water, leaving behind the nest.
after escaping the nest, she arrived in the forest on the outskirts of the pale city but was captured by the hunter. i believe he intended to kill her & preserve her body like he had the others in that dining room but because she was so small, he wanted to wait until she was bigger to do that & instead locked her away in that closet in the shack’s basement. she’d been given the ragged clothes we find her in, along with the music box & scraps to eat when the hunter would come back to the shack. her signature raincoat was taken from her & her only comfort in that room was her music box.
she’d been captive for 30 days when mono saves her & was still hesitant to trust him even after he broke her out of the closet, but she does come to realize that she needs his help to escape not only the hunter but the pale city itself.
six has aphenphosmphobia (fear of being touched, stemming from ptsd due to what she endured in the nest) & struggles with it when mono holds her hand throughout the city (including when they have to work together & she has to catch him to help him to where she is or giving him a boost), even breaking down in a panic attack when the bullies capture her & take her away in the school. she does grow to care about mono & helps pull him out of the tvs whenever he gets sucked in, sensing he’s in danger. it’s why she distances herself from him for a little while after doing that each time.
when she’s taken by the t/hin man, she felt betrayed by mono. she reached for him from under the table & even tried crawling towards him for help, only for him to stay hidden under the bed when she’s screaming as she’s taken away with her glitched remains staying behind. yes, he does try to get her out through the tv afterwards, but her trust is still shattered.
in the black tower, she was transformed into a large, monstrous version of herself by the transmission & her music box was the key to turning her back to normal. even in this form, she was willing to share her music box with mono, only for him to attack it & destroy the one thing that brought her comfort in life. it’s why when she’s back to herself afterwards, she glares at him before they have to escape from the fleshy monstrosity that was the tower itself. it’s the second time her trust in him is broken, even with all the times she’s ended up in danger (which she thinks is because of him). in the end, he was still the first & only friend she ever truly had.
ENDING SPOILERS AHEAD: now to talk about that scene. when the t/hin man had her, six saw his face up close. she didn’t recognize him then but once mono rescues her in the tower without his paper bag over his head, that’s when she realized who he was. even with his facial structure changing as an adult & from his eyes, she was still able to recognize that it was adult!mono. as sadistic & cold as she may be, part of her still cared about mono though he had broken her trust twice. she thought letting him go was saving him from that fate & doesn’t realize the true consequences of what she had done, that she’d actually condemned mono into becoming the t/hin man. six doesn’t know that he’s now stuck in this endless cycle because of her actions.
as for the secret scene after that, she was glitched due to being taken away by the t/hin man & having been transformed into the monster version of herself, in turn losing part of her soul as it becomes s/hadow six. losing that part of her is why she has that overwhelming hunger & need to fill that void. it’s why after she sees her shadow point to the picture of the maw, she makes her way into a part of the pale city outside of the black tower’s signal range & is captured by the ferryman. it’s how she ends up there, though she does manage to escape where the children there are being held, which brings us to the opening scene of l/n.
because of things i hadn’t noticed before (specifically the painting of five women with the painted lady in the center), i do agree with the theory of six becoming the lady & that’s her future. i do think, however, that six will be able to break this cycle & stop herself from becoming that specific version of the lady. & hopefully go save mono cause damn these kids need a break.
