Skinny Pancake - Burlington, VT
The Skinny Pancake (http://skinnypancake.com/) is a small breakfast spot in Burlington Vermont. We have visited this breakfast spot a couple of different tines and had two totally different experiences. The first visit was nice, average breakfast, nice atmosphere, and nice staff. The second visit was different, and sadly I think it was all due to the staff working. When we arrived we placed our order, I was sad to notice that two of their more delicious sounding crepes were "sold out" as they had been the last time I had visited over a month ago. Four of us placed our order, two on one tab and two on the other. After about 5 minutes one item from the first order arrived. After waiting 15 more minutes I stood up to look for the rest of our orders the other 3 items. The lady working rudely told me they were working on it! Added to her rude tone was an eye roll that was VERY unnecessary since we received part of the order 15 minutes prior. After about 5 more minutes the lady brought over 2 more items from our order. When we asked how long it would be to receive the third meal she informed us that she must have made a mistake and never rang up the other meal- please keep in mind, she informed us of this after 20 minutes of waiting. She didn't offer to put in the order or to comp us the order she just apologized half halfheartedly and walked away. I have to say I was disgusted with this! Instead of reordering we went without and split the below average meal that came out cold and flavorless.
I can't say I would recommend this place to anyone. Our first visit was a very average visit, and our second visit was disgustingly disappointing. I went back in hopes of trying the crepes I missed out on last time due to the "sold out" sign slapped on the board, but I was still unable to order them a month later upon returning. The crepes were average, the meal was cold, and the flavor of everything was BLAHH!! The most depressing part was the realization of the outrageous prices for so very little food and terrible service.
Hope this review prevents a few people from a waste of money and an empty stomach.
Below is a picture of the first item delivered to the table- filled crepe with only strawberries, no creme, no filling, no flavor. Cost $7.99
Below is a picture of the Chai Latte, tasted purely of water- beautiful presentation though. Cost $2.99
