hi this is a very specific question i need to ask for future reference! if we're updating a character's canon point how exactly do they get the memories from said canon point? like do they just go to sleep and wake up with those memories or something else? thank you in advance!

This is very simple. It’s as if they always had said memories, they don’t go to sleep and wake up with them, they just always had them. So if you update your canon point and your character learns something new it’s as if they always had that from the get go, it’s not something that magically comes to them suddenly, it would just be as if they were summoned from that point in their canon, so it just already happened to them. That’s how canon point works !

Do the muses get cell phones here? A look at the dorms shows what seem to be computers, but I'm not quite sure of the tech-level of the setting...

Cellphones do exist here as well as computers and video game systems! While most of the teachers and the headmaster aren’t the most familiar with how they work, Orion was still able to give them to the students when they arrived. Though for muses who aren’t familiar with them... Well, they’ll have to ask other students for help since the teachers are quite clueless.

a stupid question, sorry in advance lol, but what does retained mean in the group statistics of the application? is it like what powers our character gets to keep in sla?

That is exactly what that means! So it’s simply if you are stated to be allowed to keep something~ Otherwise it will more then likely be left blank!

if a character has abilities due to being a different species, like a demon with enhanced eyesight, would that be taken away as well...? thank you!

It’s a very case by case basis. So long as it as no implications of being dangerous then, more than likely, your muse would keep it. So your example of enhanced eyesight would be fine.

Again! It’s very case by case~ So we can’t get an exact answer. Some may be taken some may not or may simply be lessened, though more then likely if it’s something like this then they would keep it!

can. can familiars speak, or communicate.

They can ! All familiars are capable of speech, though the dragons start out barely able to speak much ! only the name of the owner which is usually said wrong and then a few other phrases as they learn to speak just like a baby would.

if you change majors, what happens to your dragon. do they change type. do you trade it in. do you get a second dragon. or do you just have a unique major/ dragon type combo?

Your dragon never changes ! So despite changing majors your dragon would retain it’s original appearance ! The only way to change their appearance is to give them clothing, which doesn’t really change their appearance, but it’s something ~

this is the last one, for sure, definitely. can i roleplay my character as if they have been attending sunlight academies for a few months/years? they start out at the same rank, but, for example, one would have changed their major/minor so they start from scratch despite having attended for a while, and the other hasn't learned much but has technically attended?

Both are perfectly plausible ! 

If you switch your major, you start completely from scratch, so such a thing would allow them to have been attending for a long period of time but lose all progress because they switched and on the other hand. If a person chooses to neglect their studies and never learn, they could have attended a long time and never truly progressed ! 

So in the end, no matter what, they would end up at the same rank as everyone else when they start, so yes ! that is totally possible.

woops another question.... if we app an sunlight verse oc, who's attended since they were 6 like written, do they start off with a higher magic ranking? or is it a case of gameplay story segregation, which makes perfect sense in an admin point of view, i would just have to come up with a lore reason myself which is easy enough. also could, for example, my oc has attended since being a child, and has had their life magic familiar since then?

They would not start off as a higher rank ! If they started attending as a chid, they would learn basic core classes at first, so like a real school setting if they were born into the world. They would have started learning magic later in life ! So around the highschool years ~ Purely so that they can actually raise a child to be able to read, write, and be able to do basic counting and math, Though, if a child is sure of the major they wish to study later in their life, they would be allowed to enroll at a young age, so even if they weren’t learning magic, they would be allowed to have a familiar, as the familiars are given to someone in the life major as well as simply attending the magic portion of the school !
