Illusion Celebrates Three Years at Cielo - Sat. October 21st

On October 21st, New York's Sleepy & Boo make their return to Cielo to celebrate a very special event - the third anniversary of their signature #ILLUSION party. #ILLUSION is Sleepy & Boo’s monthly residency at the famed New York nightlife institution, which is approaching its 15th anniversary next year. This party is the duo's opportunity and privilege to play an extended headlining set every month at one of New York's finest and most respected dance music venues.

Utilizing optical illusion imagery in the event artwork, combined with the spiritual foundation that life - and the reality we all live in - is itself an illusion of the mind, Illusion uses music and the euphoria of dancing as a gateway to illuminate this alternative understanding. Cielo’s pristine Funktion One sound system is the ideal way to deliver this message, with all the dimensions and frequencies of sound transmitted to the dancefloor. At every Illusion night, Sleepy & Boo play an extended headlining set, taking over the decks sometime after midnight and continuing until the party ends. Musically, Sleepy & Boo’s Illusion sets focus on the cutting edge sounds of today’s underground - with the duo featuring everything from hypnotic and driving techno, to melodic and more contemplative deeper grooves. Every set they play features many of Sleepy & Boo's original productions and unreleased tracks.

Illusion launched at Cielo in 2014, and has been a regular monthly event at the celebrated club ever since. Illusion is the second multi-year residency that Sleepy & Boo have held at Cielo.

The October anniversary party comes in the midst of a busy season for Sleepy & Boo. They are on the verge of releasing a slew of new music, with EPs coming on Vermont's Cenote Records, their return to 3Bridge Records, and a new track including on an upcoming Yoshitoshi compilation. In addition, Begoña from Sleepy & Boo released her own debut artist EP on 3Bridge Elements, the three-track downtempo and chillout Horizons EP. Warming up for Sleepy & Boo will be Deep Woods and Eric Shans from 3Bridge Records, who are making their return to #ILLUSION. Sleepy & Boo have been a fixture on 3Bridge Records over the last several years, with mutliple EPs released on the Brooklyn-based imprint. Following their opening, Sleepy & Boo will be playing an extended headlining set to close out the night.

New York’s Sleepy & Boo are set to return to Cielo on Saturday, May 13th, as the duo headline the next installment of their monthly Illusion night. Illusion is Sleepy & Boo’s monthly residency at the famed New York nightlife institution, which celebrated it’s 14th anniversary in January. This party is the duo's opportunity and privilege to headline every month at one of the city’s finest and most respected dance music venues.

At every Illusion night, Sleepy & Boo play an extended headlining set, taking over the decks sometime after midnight and continuing until the party ends. Musically, Sleepy & Boo’s Illusion sets focus on the cutting edge sounds of today’s underground - with the duo featuring everything from hypnotic and driving techno, to melodic and more contemplative deeper grooves. Release-wise, Sleepy & Boo released their first EP of 2017 in early April, with the three-track “Surrender EP” out on 3Bridge Records. They also compiled “Underground Vol. Sixteen” for the UK’s Savoir Faire label, which included their original track “Initiation.” And coming out later this year will be EPs on the UK’s Static Music, King Street sub-label Street King, De-Noize Records, a remix for Where the Heart Is, and more projects. Each week, Sleepy & Boo can also be heard on the airwaves, with their weekly radio show #ILLUSIONRadio airing on Pioneer DJ Radio on Tuesday nights at 9PM EST, with repeats on Saturday night at 8PM EST. The show is archived each week on Pioneer’s Mixcloud channel.

Warming up for Sleepy & Boo will be New York’s CGC trio, three Brooklyn-based DJs who are making their Cielo debut on the night. Following their warm-up, Sleepy & Boo will be playing an extended headlining set to close out the night.

And as January approaches the midway mark, New York’s Sleepy & Boo are set to return to Cielo for the first installment of their monthly Illusion night of the new year this Saturday, January 14th. The duo are excited to kick off a new year of music, and Illusion is their signature night, their opportunity and privilege to headline every month at one of New York’s finest nightlife venues.

January is a special month of celebrations for Cielo, as the club marks its 14th anniversary on Saturday January 21st. Cielo Celebrates 14th Anniversary with Jody Wisternoff, Sleepy & Boo - Sat. January 21st

When Cielo opened its doors on Little West 12th Street in 2003, the club set a new standard for sound, music and nightlife in New York City. 14 years later, almost an eternity in the nightlife world, Cielo continues to stand as one of New York’s most celebrated dance institutions. On Saturday, January 21st, Cielo will celebrate its 14th Anniversary, welcoming the UK’s standout DJ and producer Jody Wisternoff back to the booth for a headlining set, with support from the club's residents Sleepy & Boo. A night of deep, driving and uplifting house music is the perfect way to honor Cielo’s longevity - and steady presence as one of New York’s finest dance music destinations.

Founded by Nicolas Matar, Cielo’s consistency and dedication to its core mission are the reasons why it continues to thrive. From the beginning, Cielo’s striking design, thoughtful layout, and perhaps most importantly, its ground-breaking Funktion One sound system, set the club apart from its contemporaries. Over the years, Cielo has won numerous awards, and been recognized by countless industry aficionados, and it ushered in a new era where appreciation for top-quality sound systems was paramount amongst clubgoers and DJs alike. Its musical policy has been another firm foundation - instead of chasing after hype, Cielo is a home for house music, and its many derivatives. It honors New York’s traditional sounds and styles, but it is also firmly connected to the international scene and new talent that has arisen. Jody Wisternoff will be headlining Cielo for this anniversary night. Currently, Jody is riding high on the recent release of Anjunadeep 08, a two-disc compilation of tracks that has been mixed and hand-selected by him alongside the label boss James Grant. The compilation has topped the iTunes release charts, and Anjunadeep’s sound has spread like wildfire worldwide over the last several years, espousing a lush, deep and emotive interpretation of house music, with the label’s showcases packing venues and festival stages. Wisternoff, who is also the co-founder of the legendary Way Out West duo (alongside Nick Warren), has become one of Anjunadeep’s standard-bearers. Anjunadeep’s ethos, touching on everything from classic deep house to cutting-edge progressive, fits perfectly with Cielo’s musical poiicy: embracing the future of dance music while never losing sight of the core values of the past.

Warming up for Jody on this night will be Sleepy & Boo, the veteran New York DJ and production duo who themselves have a long relationship with Cielo. Every month, they headline at Cielo for their own night, Illusion, an event that celebrated its two-year anniversary in October. Illusion is their second multi-year residency at Cielo, and in addition to their own events, they have supported a wide array of out of town guests at the club before. They have recently become known for their production work, releasing tracks and EPs on labels such as Yoshitoshi, Savoir Faire Musique, 3Bridge Records, Nitegrooves and many more. They also have a long-running friendship with Jody Wisternoff, and they have DJed alongside him many times before.
