Laverne Cox’s Studio Apartment Is 634 Square Feet of Minimalist Luxury.
Here’s an adorable upper floor apt. in Australia.
This is such an unusual feature. Like how the large mirror gives the small area depth.
Basic kitchen with a wooden backsplash and counter. Open shelving above gives it a modern look, but look at the unique plug-in lighting. I’ve never seen anything like that.
What this apt. lacks in kitchen cabinetry, it more than makes up for with the baby AGA stove. That tiny AGA costs around $9,170.00!
The coffee table look like a flower- very unusual.
And, finally, there’s a lovely bedroom in the attic.

Artist Erin has only lived in this 500 sq. ft. apt. in St. Louis, Missouri, for less than 6 mos., and has already filled it with black & white DIY murals. They look like simple doodles, pretty easy idea.
Nick went to the Met Art Museum on a date and loved it. So, he kept going back and started researching pieces he liked. He invited friends to go on tours w/him and eventually, the tours turned into a million-dollar company that leads “renegade” small-group tours of museums in New York City and four other cities!
This is his 800 sq. ft. Greenwich Village, New York City apt.
Nick found his blue velvet couch on a Craiglist-like website. It reminded him of one of his favorite pieces of furniture at the Met.
The photo above the fireplace is of “the craziest party” he’s ever thrown for a friend’s bachelor party. “It was crazy. We had to hire a lobster boat to bring us out there,” Nick said, of the weekend-long bash.
“I jump on the trampoline almost every day,” Nick said. “It’s a good way to wake up.”
Nick calls his balcony a luxury. “Feels like a little treehouse,” he said.
To get on his photo wall, friends must have been in his apt. at least twice.
One of his favorite pieces is the pixelated Mona Lisa that his best friend’s sister made for him.
Nick picked up this painting in a market in China. He likes the crispness of it.
I guess the curtain is over the open shelving in the kitchen b/c he doesn’t like the look?
He does his work at a standing desk that he can move around the apt.
This is William, the blue hippo, the unofficial mascot of the Met. The tour guides Nick hires are comedians and actors, but he also hires musicians, museum professionals, docents, historians, and artists. They have to spread their enthusiasm to the group and have fun.

When a tiny old 2 room apt. in Paris is remodeled, and it’s all about the kitchen. Enter thru a small courtyard.
The 2nd room in the apt. does triple duty as a living room/home office/bedroom, with a fold-out bed.
The ancient refurbished bathroom is delightful.
But, like I said, it’s all about the kitchen.
Open, lit display shelves and ladders.
A rolling cart of spices and condiments is at the end of the table.
It can accommodate a dinner party for 10 or 12 friends.
Here, you can see the bedroom/living room is located on the other side of the kitchen wall.
It’s so unique, isn’t it?

Kim & Tom are architects in Melbourne, Australia, and they’re big fans of “stuff.” This is how they handle it in their small apt. The nicest thing about the apt. is the glass-enclosed terrace where they keep lots of plants.
They selected the leather chair as a housewarming gift b/c it’s “super squishy.”
They have an odd-shaped triangular kitchen table so they can sit and eat together at the point, and put things like a handbag and laundry, on the wide part.
They like lots of colorful pillows and their hat collections hang neatly above the sofa.
The wardrobe! This particular section is all Kim’s skirts and dresses.
‘Our living room is pretty much just a wardrobe…’ says Kim. ‘There was no way we would have been able to fit everything in the wardrobes that were built into the apartment so the first thing we did was add open wardrobes to the space.”
Shelf made from blocks and plywood looks homemade, but it was store bought for Tom’s shoes.
Kim says, “We love collecting things, we have heaps of vintage cups, plates and random bits of glassware,’ says Kim. ‘A little bit of coffee paraphernalia too, we work on lots of cafes and do love a good coffee.”
Kim says, “The bed is designed to be taken apart so it can move with you from house to house, which is exactly what we did!” Well, it certainly is a colorful apt.

Brazilian Architect and Furniture Designer Guto has a cool apt. that’s always changing, but here, the small apt. is looking very artsy and industrial. He was chosen by Google to design their Brazil office, too.
To separate open spaces in the apt., he used long sheer curtains.
A big old sign leans against the wall as a feature, and look at the unusual coffee table. A closer look reveals that the table is made of rulers.
A school writing desk makes a good magazine rack.
This is how to make an unconventional layout look interesting- the bathroom is is an open space.
Every room has curtains to make it consistent- the kitchen has green lighting that gives a nice glow. It’s hard to see, b/c it’s black, but the sleeping area is behind the sofa.
Guto has a serious office space.
The room off the office looks like another bathroom.
Here’s an odd little nook.
Combination of funky art and serious art.
The apt. has a terrace with a view of Sao Paulo. It’s an unusual apt. and he’s made the most of it.

Camilla’s small oasis in an old apt. building.
I like the softly pink faux-finished walls and the few classy pieces of furniture.
A little corner dining area.
Bright little galley kitchen.
BoHo bedding.
