Wow this is super late, sorry. So back in the 90's and early 2000's apparently 2 higher ups in the AFAM department created "paper classes" where you never had to come to class, and the only assignment was 1 paper at the end of the year that always got an A or a B if you met the word count (and most of them were plagiarized) and it was super sketchy and under the radar, a lot of athletes were steered toward these classes so they could meet the GPA requirements to stay in school (most of it was actually well intentioned, cause the athletes didn't have the background to be able to succeed at UNC, but their advisors wanted them to stay in school...) and it was a whole big thing. Obviously it stopped a while ago when the rest of the faculty started figuring it out, but people are still freaking out about it. Not that we're the only school to have this shit happen, we just actually own up to it (IMHO)
