the DARPA conference was supposed to be a milestone— a chance for a fourteen-year-old to watch her dads command the smartest room in the country. instead, it became the day the world turned to stone.
when the revival fluid finally eroded the stone casing thousands of years later, she didn't wake up to a sterile lab or a military bunker. she woke up to a sprawling, primitive kingdom built on raw science and heavy artillery. Xeno and Stanley had already established their footprint in the Stone World, but the moment their daughter opened her eyes, the grand mission of global domination took a backseat to ultimate parental panic.
In the old world, Xeno was a man of logic and Stanley was a man of calculated risk. In the Stone World? They were a united front of terrifying, overprotective smothering.
“ Absolutely not, ” Xeno said, not even looking up from his blueprints as his daughter reached for a makeshift machete. “ The flora in this sector has mutated variations of contact dermatitis. Furthermore, Stanley has tracked a jaguar population three kilometers north. You will remain within the perimeter. ”
“ Dad, I'm fourteen, not four, ” she groaned, dropping the blade. “ I survived the petrification. I think I can handle a walk. ”
Stanley, leaning against a wooden beam while cleaning his rifle, blew a slow puff of smoke into the air. “ Listen to your father. You go past the treeline without me, and I’m putting you on a permanent mandatory base arrest. I don't care if you're technically a teenager; out here, you're fragile cargo. ”
“ You guys are unbelievable, ” she muttered, kicking a stray pebble. “ You're trying to rebuild civilization but you won't even let me look at it. ”
an hour later, seeking any form of entertainment in the high-tech, low-resource camp, she slipped into Xeno’s personal tent. her eyes immediately landed on his desk. Specifically, on the ridiculous, dramatic, custom-made claw-gloves he insisted on wearing.
“ How does he even function in these? ” she whispered to herself.
she slid her hands into the oversized, metallic contraptions, the elongated claws clinking together loudly. shaking her hands experimentally, she picked up a graphite pencil and a bound piece of handmade paper.
keyword: tried.
the moment she closed her hand, the heavy, awkward claws clattered against each other. the pencil slipped out of her grip, rolling across the desk. when she tried to scoop it up, the sharp tips just stabbed the wood, creating a frustratingly loud clack-clack-clack.
“ How does Dad wear these all the time and manage to get any work done? ” she grumbled aloud, balancing the notebook on her forearms like a clumsy waiter. “ I can't even manage to pick up my notebook and pencil... ”
“ Because, my dear, it requires an elegant synergy of physics, muscle memory, and an unwavering commitment to aesthetic superiority. ”
she froze.
Xeno was standing at the entrance of the tent, his arms crossed, a highly amused, elegant smirk playing on his lips. eight behind him was Stanley, who had a rare, genuine grin splitting his face, his shoulder shaking with silent laughter.
“ Do you require a lesson in aerodynamic finger-weaving? ” Xeno asked, stepping forward with an theatrical flourish. “ Or have you simply realized that your father is, indeed, elegant in all dimensions? ”
“ I think she just realized you're a dork, Xeno, ” Stanley chuckled, walking over and gently tugging the heavy gloves off her hands, replacing them with her fallen pencil. “ Stick to the normal hands for now, kiddo. We have enough trouble keeping track of you without you stabbing your own homework. ”
wow! Its so easy to write drabbles??? damn I should've start doing this before... I just hope both of them are in character because I don't pay too much attention to xeno and stanley😔
I don't even write drabbles, ( probably my last ) but I felt bad for the one who ordered this. seems like you want this drabble for a while, and I hope I got it right and you enjoyed this!!
Featuring : Stanley Snyder x gender neutral reader
You may expect : fluff, highschool /middle school AU idk definitely not adults that's for sure, and Stanley lowkey being a simp for reader
Word count : 2,3k
Author's note : this is my first time writing a 'complete' fanfic and publishing it because i got inspired by some people's work (would tag them but idk much about tumblr etiquettes). This fic is basically just a barf of words, i do apologize in advance if it's hard to imagine the scenes due to my poor ability to describe things because english is not my first language, it's pretty rushed as well so i skipped a lot of scenes that i wanted to put inside this.
Stanley isn't the type to care about these types of public celebrations, to him, Valentine's Day is just an ordinary day that people decided to pick as the day to show affection to their loved ones. He didn't give it much thought at first, but after getting to know you a few years ago, this year's day of love and affection began to cloud his mind as it came closer and closer, him over hearing his NPC classmates talking and getting excited about the famous Valentine's Day didn't ease his harboring feelings towards you at all, in fact, he can't resist the growing feeling of excitement as well.
On the D-Day, you caught the sight of your valentine date sitting on a bench in a park near your house, his figure became more clear as you were walking towards him, he looks like he was observing a random pebble on the ground or lost in thoughts. Either way, he doesn't seem to notice your footsteps.
"Chocolates are a classic gift for Valentine's, but i find them a bit overrated, so i wanted to give you something different. Hi, did i make you wait long?" He turned around after hearing your voice behind him, the sight wasn't what he had expected — heavens it was far better than he imagined. The sun radiates its shine from above, casting shadow on the right places, the wind gently swayed your hair as you strolled closer to him, his eyes immediately locked with yours. And when you smiled at him, he felt like he forgot how to breathe because of how incredibly stunning you look. You were holding out something that looks like a bouquet for him to take, he didn't care what it was as he's too busy melting on the inside — like ice cream in the summer, he swore that the angels wanted him to see an ethereal being and heaven decided to send you to earth.
"Stan? You good?" Your curious voice snapped him out of his daze as you waved a hand in front of him, he immediately stood up and quickly answered your previous words, "hi, yes— i mean— no, i just got here five minutes ago and yes, I'm good." You let out a small giggle at the usually composed Stanley fumbling over his words, it was absolutely adorable.
"Alrighty, if you say so~" You grabbed his hand and handed him your handmade bouquet of lollipops, he noticed that they were the brand he always gets. "Happy Valentine's Day, Stan, i hope you like my gift." Realizing that you caught that small detail of him, made him feel giddy and flustered at the same time to the point he could feel his heart racing a marathon, you could mistake his flushed face because of the cold, but nope, it was all you.
With careful movements, he took the gift from you while admiring your handiwork, it wasn't anything much, just some simple gluing here and there — but his eyes were almost sparkling in awe. "I do like it, thanks." A smile he couldn't hold back decorated his flushed face as he looked back at you while holding out a rose for you, "pretty flower! Thank you~" He then remembered the gift he bought a few days prior, "and one more thing,"
"Hm?" You hummed in curiosity, head titled slightly to the side as he reached a hand inside one of the pockets of his jacket, fishing out a small keychain of your favorite Sanrio character holding a red heart, "here, saw this the other day and it reminds me of you" He confessed with an obvious hint of bashfulness, yet still trying to play it cool. You can't help but think that him being unusually shy and red faced might be cuter than the keychain dangling in front of you, you took the item to your possession while smiling brightly, Stanley felt he was looking at a second sun — one that wouldn't blind his vision if he stared at it for too long. "I've been searching for this particular one to collect for a while now, it's incredibly cute! Thank you for getting it for me, Stan!"
"Yeah, sure, glad you like it, happy Valentine's to you too." Despite his nonchalant words, his body language was anything but, and it's just exchanging valentine gifts. Only you and him know how he'll react when you give his cheek a quick peck after you wrap up your little valentine date later that evening.
Stanley: Senku, your father and I have been talking.
