You’re sitting across from him, cross-legged on the couch in his office, a book in your hands. You’ve been there for hours. Not talking much. Just… existing with him.
Law tells himself he prefers it that way.
No noise. No expectations. No vulnerability.
And yet... He hasn’t looked at his work in ten minutes.
His eyes keep drifting back to you.
The way your brow furrows slightly when you read something interesting. The way your fingers absentmindedly trace the edge of the page. The way you don’t feel the need to fill the silence.
Most people make him tired.
You don’t.
You quiet something in him he didn’t realize was always loud.
He exhales slowly, like breathing too hard might make the moment disappear.
You glance up.
“Are you staring at me again, or did you forget how to read your own notes?”
There’s a hint of a smile in your voice.
Law scoffs lightly, looking back down at his papers.
“…You’re distracting.”
You hum. “Then stop staring.”
He doesn’t respond.
Because the truth hits him in that exact second—sudden, sharp, unavoidable.
He wants to look.
He wants this. This quiet. This you, sitting in his space like you belong there.
And that’s the problem.
Because Law doesn’t let people belong. Not like this. Not in a way that matters.
His fingers tighten slightly around his pen.
If something happened to you...
The thought comes uninvited. Violent. Immediate. His chest tightens.
That’s when he knows.
Not when you walked in. Not when you stayed. Not even when he started seeking you out.
It’s now.
Because the idea of losing you feels... Unacceptable.
He looks up again, slower this time.
Softer.
“…Stay.”
You blink. “I wasn’t planning on leaving.”
He nods once, like that settles it.
But it doesn’t.
Because for the first time in a long time, Trafalgar Law has something to lose.
And worse?
Something he doesn’t want to lose.

Summary:-
Law never expects something as simple as your habit of humming while doing chores to become his favorite sound. As he quietly falls into the rhythm of your melodies, the two of you create a small, unspoken tradition of shared hums and quiet mornings aboard the Polar Tang—proof that love is often found in the softest moments.
─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ───
The first time he hears it, he almost drops the stack of medical reports in his hands.
It's early morning on the submarine, that quiet hour before the crew stumbles out of their bunks, when the only sounds are usually the hum of the engine and Law's own pen scratching against paper. But today there's something else threaded through it — soft, unhurried, a little off-key in the most endearing way. You're in the galley, sleeves pushed up, humming some tune he doesn't recognize while you stack clean mugs back onto their shelf.
He stands in the doorway longer than he means to.
It isn't even a song, not really — just a melody you're clearly making up as you go, drifting from one note to the next like you're not thinking about it at all. Which, he realizes, you probably aren't. You're just happy. Doing something as mundane as putting away mugs, and happy, and letting it spill out of you in sound because you don't know anyone's listening.
He should say something. Announce himself. Instead he leans against the doorframe with his arms crossed and lets himself have this a moment longer.
"You're staring," you say without turning around, and he startles — actually startles, Trafalgar Law, feared surgeon of death, caught flat-footed by a girl with dish soap on her hands.
"I was passing by."
"For four minutes?"
"I have excellent hearing. I was assessing structural integrity of the shelving." He nods at the mugs. "It looked unstable."
You laugh — that easy, unbothered laugh of yours — and go back to humming like he isn't even there, and something in his chest does an entirely unprofessional thing.
After that, he starts noticing it everywhere.
You hum while you braid your hair in front of the small mirror bolted to the wall, hair tie between your teeth so the tune comes out muffled and ridiculous. You hum while you sort bandages in the infirmary, alphabetizing supplies that don't need alphabetizing just to have something to do with your hands. You hum while you're halfway into your boots, one shoe on and one shoe forgotten, like getting ready is a background task to whatever song is playing in your head.
Sometimes it's a real song. Sometimes it's nothing at all, just melody for its own sake. He starts to be able to tell your moods by it — a slow, low hum when you're concentrating, something brighter and quicker when you're in a good mood, an absent little trailing-off when you're tired and don't quite realize you're still doing it.
He would never admit — not to Bepo, not to Shachi, certainly not to you — that he's started listening for it. That the sound of you humming down the corridor is how he knows you're close before he even hears your footsteps.
It happens by accident, the first time he joins in.
You're in the middle of getting ready, humming something soft while you fix your collar in the mirror, and he's sitting behind you at the small desk, ostensibly reading a chart. The melody loops back around on itself, familiar now after weeks of hearing it, and before he's really decided to do it, a low answering hum slips out of him — just a few notes, pitched to match yours, barely audible under his breath.
You go still.
He realizes what he's done half a second after you do, and for a moment neither of you says anything, your eyes meeting his in the mirror.
"That's the first time I've heard you sing."
"I wasn't singing."
"You were humming."
"There's a difference."
"Uh huh." But you're smiling, that soft private smile you don't wear for anyone else, and you turn back to the mirror and pick the melody back up right where you left off — leaving space in it, this time, like you're waiting to see if he'll fill it in again.
He does. Quietly. Just a thread of sound woven under yours, following where you lead because he doesn't know the tune well enough to lead it himself. It's clumsy and a little flat and it is, without question, the most content he's felt in longer than he can remember.
It becomes a thing, after that. Not every day — he's not going to serenade you over breakfast in front of the whole crew, and you seem to understand that without being told — but in the quiet in-between moments. Late at night when you're brushing out your hair before bed and he's pretending to read in the same room. Early mornings in the galley before anyone else is awake. The two of you, half a melody each, filling in what the other one starts.
Bepo catches them once — walks into the infirmary to find Law stitching a sleeve and humming so quietly it's almost subvocal, matching a tune you're singing properly this time, actual words and everything, some old lullaby you must have learned as a kid. Bepo backs out of the doorway without either of you noticing and doesn't say a word to anyone, mostly because he doesn't trust himself not to smile about it all day.
"You know," you say one evening, weeks later, your head on his shoulder while he reads and you hum something slow and drowsy into the quiet, "you have a nice voice. For someone who insists he doesn't sing."
"I don't sing."
"You've been humming the same four bars for ten minutes."
"It's stuck in my head. That's involuntary."
"Sure it is." You tip your face up, smiling at him, and he can't help the small, helpless curl of his own mouth in answer. "Involuntary Trafalgar Law, hopeless romantic."
"I'll have you removed from this submarine."
"You'd have to catch me first." You settle back against him, humming again, and after a moment — after only a moment, because he's stopped pretending he can resist it — he hums along, low and quiet and entirely, hopelessly happy to be doing it.
To say you were more than tickled pink at Law's reaction to see you in this dress made you inwardly giggle like a schoolgirl was an understatement. It hugged all of your curves much like a typical bodycon dress, yet you still had enough room without filling suffocated. What was the suggestion when it came to maternity clothes again? You thought to yourself as you began to change back into your clothes. Oh, the same size or a size up? You stared at the dress then the bigger one. Was it nuts to buy the same dress twice? Yes. Did you care? Nope.
It was worth it to watch Law's calm, surgical and collected composure crack. If he thought, you didn't notice the cute, fluttered expression or hear the hitch within his breath, then he wasn't trying hard enough. His silver-grey eyes had widened a fraction. So yes, this dress one and two were a keeper.
You came out of the dressing room feeling more happier and calmer than you have in a while.
Law stood with his back to you; he appeared to be holding something. It made you curious what it was. "Everything, okay?" You held the dresses within the crook of your index and middle finger. Then you noticed an empty shopping cart had magically appeared beside you.
Law turned, holding a thick bag with the store's login. "Yes," he cleaned his throat and nodded his head toward the cart. "I took the liberty to get you a cart."
Awe. You were touched. "Thanks, Law." You smiled, setting the dress down into one of the hooks.
"It was an impulse buy," he answered smoothly, "nothing important."
You raised a brow. Impulse purchases for Law didn't sound far-fetched unless it concerned his hobby of collection coins, comics and Sora merchandise. "Well, you work hard." You nodded. "You have to treat yourself every once in a while." You grabbed the cart and began to turn it around to move closer toward him, but he held the end of the cart.
"Allow me." He suggested freely. "You have enough walked a head of you and still need to rest, if you feel unwell."
"I'm not sick, Law. Really." You tried again. You were touched and flattered by his concern. You didn't like that worried look he gave you in the car. "I'm a big girl. I can take care of myself." Law opened his mouth to cut in further, but you beat him to it. "However, if you insist on helping me today, then don't think I won't go easy on you, or want to hear you complain about all the walking we have to do." You pointed your finger at him, sporting a teasing grin. "If I'm going to shop all day, then please, do not rush me." You hardened your tone slightly, oozing seriousness.
Law blinked, then nodded. "It's a compromise that I can live with."
Your smile formed back in place. "Great." You walked around, switching places with Law. You in the front and him in the back pushing it. You half turn to meet the raven-haired man's face, tilting your head. "Did you need to get anything else while we are out?"
"No." Law said flatly.
You shrugged. "Okay, but speak up, if you change your mind." You led the way towards the maternity bras and underwear.
Law kept his gaze on you and not the materials of undergarments surrounding him, unphased. Then again, given Law's profession he's probably seen every and is impressed by none of it. "Are you eating?" He blurts out bluntly, his gaze can't help but trailed down your body, silent in his assessment.
"Yes." You reply without glancing behind you as you inspect the maternity bras, underneath, pants and shorts. "My diet has changed that much since I've been pregnant." You explained, finding your size and putting them into the cart without looking. "Although, I swear little monkey has me craving BBQ and triple chocolate oreos and cream ice cream like an addict. Is that normal?"
"As long as you don't overindulge it's fine." He answered, short and simple, unjudgmental. Which was a relief.
Law always strikes you as someone who doesn't like to argue or have his authority questioned, or medical advice overlooking and ignored. You do appreciate his help in his own standoffish and controlled way without overcrowding or hovering. You do envy how excellent he is at not showing what is happening behind his eyes, even if his tense, tight jaw gives himself away that something is bothering him.
The fact you have become one of the rare people he'd let into his small bubble is cause for a small inner celebration.
His voice isn't ever loud. Weighted, yes. Low, yes. His voice does that to you. Can make the air feel slightly thicker, red hot one minute and overpowered without lifting a single finger, then shifted to something, warmer, comforting and gentle.
Yet. You can't help but feel guilty. Law spends all his energy taking care of everything, yet who's taking care of the doctor at home? Who's making sure he eats? Reminding him to sleep? The semi-permanent shadows under his eyes were concerning. You turn around slowly. "What about you?" You reverse the question. "Are you eating and sleeping?" You don't ever recall Law talking about a spouse, significant other or partner. There was no ring, metal or silicone on his ring finger. You can't help but think to yourself. Who's taking care of him when he's sick? When he's depressed and hurting? When he's stuck within the routine of work and home, if he even makes it home after pulling an all nighter, double or triple shifts. You know he has it harder than you. Lives are literally in his hands every day, no matter the hour, time or day. Death waits for no one, young or old; it's in discriminate. Your gaze shifts to staring at the tattoos decorating his fingers: DEATH. You remember that Law got it when he was in his teens, a reminder to himself that death is a part of everyday life. It's unexpected. Can come at any time. And that he's vowed to himself to use his medical knowledge, his passion and gift to help others.
You raise your eyes back to meet his beautiful silvers. You were reminded of Law's constant dark circles underneath his eyes, two permeant dark, deep, shadowed circled, nearly carved into his skin. As if, he hadn't slept in months, in weeks, or God forbid longer. It makes your heart clench painfully tight within your chest, the sensation of new tears re-wetting your thick, long lashes as you try to blink them away.
"Whenever I can." Law replied as his face shifted from perfect stone to contemplating something negotiable. Something stuck between controlled and unraveling. "You shouldn't have to worry about me." His eyes drop to your stomach and then come back up to your face, so fast if almost felt accidental. "You should focus more about yourself and your baby."
"Can't I worry about you too?" You try not to keep the sadness out of your voice, or let your smile fall, but it does. You frown and your eyes downcast. "Aren't friends supposed to care?" There's that word again. Friends. It leaves a bitter taste within your mouth. "Look out for each other? Worry?"
Law opens his mouth, then closes it again. As if he'd realize the first word popping into his head was a terrible conversation starter and tried to slip out without permission. There it was again. The subtle shift or move through his calm expression. Small. Muted. Something threatened to crack. Raw, but unbreakable and salvageable.
You can't exactly name it. It's on the tip of your tongue, but what is it? Then you second guess yourself. Refusing to give yourself false hope or misreading things too much. "I'm glad that you are taking care of yourself." You turn back around and slowly march forward. "Lord knows what the hospital staff will do without you." Your hair whipping around and swaying while you walk. "So, make sure to eat big today and go to bed early tonight, okay?"
Law snaps out of it. He quickly follows, he catches up with you in quick strides, his hand lands on top of yours, causing you to stop.
You turn your head to ask if he changed his mind, your lips inches away from his jaw; you are a little more than tempted to kiss his tanned skin.
His cheeks tinge with scarlet. "Wait," he mutters, his larger, taller body engulfing yours and pressing into your back. "Let me put this down, then you can go." His voice deepens as his minty breath fans your face and invades your nose as he set the gift into the bottom of the cart and backed away, taking away his warmth and comforting hovering along with him.
"'Kay," You swallow thickly, your mouth dry as your heartbeat flutters and your stomach flips. You move forward, pulling out your phone, unlocked it and searched for your notes. Law was surprising you today, or should you say trying to tempt you without even trying. "Let's see bras, underwear, pants," you mutter out loud to yourself, "wipes, crib sheets..." You started forwards again as Law followed without another word.
Law smoothly and effortlessly steals the shopping cart, leading the way after give a calculating glance in the direction of the baby section. "This way, then Y/n-ya."
You raise your head in shock. "Hey! Don't leave me behind Law!" You call after him and speedwalking after him without knocking into other shoppers, amused couples, curious kids and wide-eyed toddlers. "How hungry are you, if you are rushing like this? Hey!"
Law's sporting a teasing grin. He wanted to say very ravenous. Starved. Not for food. Perhaps, he was hungry. But no. It was a deeper, darker, primitive and possessive hunger that grew excited to see you chasing after him for once, instead of the other way around.
Law stops directly in front of the diapers and wipes, boxed or packaged, piled high from premature to newborns and pull-ups. "Get as many as you need for now. I'm certain you will get more at the baby shower." Law reached over, yanking a box of wipes labeled "parents' choice" which were unscented.
That box was 18 berries. RIP wallet-chan indeed. You mentally sobbed into a kleenex. Why? Cause babies are expensive that's why. But even if you blow your monthly budget on all of these baby things... at least, you will be stress free for a while. Not waiting last minute to grab everything.
If you tried to argue, Law wasn't budging.
By the end of the shopping trip, Law packed what he could in the back seat and trunk, which looked odd given the piles of boxes littering every crevice of his car like live action Tetris.
You wanted bbq for lunch. Law paid for it too. Saying it was his treat. You felt the envious stares from other women surrounded you.
Your mind began to wonder.
Wonder towards more spicy fantasies.
It didn't help when Law had nibbled on a peach as a snack... You watched him tear it apart with his hands, the strength and muscles bulging beneath his clothes, flexing. Or him licking his knuckles clean, then proceeded to sterilize his hands with lemon scented wet wipes.
You swallowed, nibbling and chewing on your own peach halves Law had given you as you waited for your food. If anyone made a complaint, then he'd retaliate that you needed the extra calories for your growing baby as he pulled out his medical license with a cold hearted stare. Oh boy, that turned you on more. Your heart pounded, your lower half clenched around nothing, becoming wetter within your own seat. Doctor Trafalgar was a menace and you liked it.
More naughty scenarios played in your head.
If Law was your boyfriend... if he offered to sneak you into the bathroom, or back home to his apartment? If he offered to cure your of this seering ache between your legs... God, you wouldn't be able to deny him.
I need his lips and tongue on my clit. You can picture him kneeling at your feet, his mouth parting your folds, his goatee wet from your arousal and his saliva. Just sucking and licking while I squeeze my thighs around his pretty head. You thought to yourself, feeling your cheeks burn. Your thighs twitch and clench together beneath the table at the booth you two were sitting at in the restaurant.
Were you seriously fantasizing about Law giving you oral right now? Yes. You won't be able to look at peaches the same way again after this, you know it.
A faint pleasure shiver crawling everywhere across your goosebumps covered skin as soon as his molten silver eyes met your own. I want to bury my hands in his hair, hearing his muffled moans against me as he grinds against the bed... Or fists himself in his pants.
Damn, I'm going crazy. You inwardly shake your head to rid yourself of these dirty, thoughts and images out of your head as your lunch trays finally arrive at the table. You thank the waitress quietly without your voice cracking or whimpering.
"Feeling faint again?" Law inquiries again, his eyes noticing the heated flush adoring your cheeks once more. Inwardly panicking. "Eat and drink slowly." He pushes your food closer towards you, which consisted of potato salad, cornbread, pulled pork bbq and brisket.
"Thanks." You mumbled, shyly and digging in. I'm the worst woman ever! You mentally chastise yourself. Law's spoiling me left and right and here I am mentally undressing him like an overly hormonal pervert. Your need for him was growing just as strong.
To feel his teeth scraping seductively along the column of your throat or your inner thighs, sent your blood rushing, slick pooling and the excitement of his tongue caressing the pulse point soaring higher, throbbing with untouched heat and desire between your legs.
The smell of your food hits your nose, awakening you from your lustfully haze.
Law's dark grey eyes focused on you intentionally. Completely unaware of your internal struggle. He wanted to draw you closer to check your pulse. The black haired doctor wanted to raise his inked hand, grab yours and press the back of your wrist to his forehead to feel the warmth of your body heat against his own. Or run your fingers along his tense jaw just to experience the feeling of your gentle touch to soothe his overworked nerves and frazzled overthinking mind from unraveling.
He blinked, swallowed the last piece of the juicy fruit. Law didn't know why he'd suddenly had the craving for peaches all of a sudden while at the fruit section of the store. After wordlessly offering you a bite, he couldn't stop. The sweet juice running down your chin drew his attention, awakening these intense emotions and wildness within him.
He wanted to lean over the table, hold your chin between his fingers and lick away every last drop of peach flavored nectar staining your skin before pressing his lips into yours, fully kissing you. Claiming you before everyone's eyes. Would you freely kiss him back and moan into his mouth? Or would you reject him?
Law's gut clenched with want. I desire you beyond reason. His breath heaving and heavier within his own lungs as you two stared at each other. His mind is stupefied on what to say as he awkwardly ate his own food: a rack of ribs slathered in Louisiana bbq sauce with a side of coleslaw and onion rings.
Absentmindedly, Law grabbed a few ribs off his own plate and placed it onto your own without a word when he noticed your hungry stare at his sauce covered fingers.
He knew if Corazon were here. The blonde, clumsy giant would be grinning from ear to ear watching Law make a fool of himself.
The teasing would be worth it.
Your pretty smile was worth it.
Law wasn't surprised when he discovered that he loved spoiling you like this. He wanted to do something with his accumulating wealth and savings account he'd hardly ever touched, which Corazon would transfer into his savings account no matter how many times Law refused it. He figured if he could help ease your financial burdens and help you prepare for your child's arrival, then he's free to do whatever he wants with it.
If Doffy or Corazon nags, then Law would give them a few none child friendly choices of words and a dose of his double middle fingers as his lips curve into a smug, cocky smirk.
"A surgeon doesn't usually get this interactive with patients normally, right?" You blurted out without thinking.
Law's body tensed, his hand and fork raised in mid- bite. "No." He admits, bringing his found to his mouth, chewing thoroughly and swallowing as he continues. "A doctor's lifestyle is usually solitary and private outside of the operating room."
"Then why do you allow me into your small inner circle?" You can't help, but ask. Amusement creeping into your voice.
Law gives a mental shrug. "If I revealed all of my secrets would you still find me fascinating?" He turned the tables, matching your teasing and amused tone.
You snorted as you took a sip of your sweet, iced tea. "Smartass." You met his gaze. "Heavens bless your mother for being able to put up with a smart aleck brat for a son."
Law's silver eyes roamed all over you, his gaze lively. Unlike his usual, hard and serious expression. He scrubbed his palm over his mouth with a napkin, hiding his own growing smirk from widening. "Believe it or not, but I was an overachiever as a child." He trailed off, folding his napkin and setting it into the side. "And I remained respectful of both my parents, thank you very much." He squared his shoulders and fixed his posture out of habit.
Silver tongued and prideful, doctor isn't he?
You pinned his gaze. "Then I imagine they must be proud of you for achieving your dream to follow their career path?"
"Yes." Law nodded, he knew if given the change his parents would adore you and come to love you as their own daughter-in-law. They wouldn't judge you once they found out the child growing within you wasn't his. But they would smother the child anyway even after yours and his own come along, if you wanted more.
If Law was being honest. He never really saw himself having a partner in his future... until you came along. Or children. Now, he can practice pictures coming home to the sound of little feet, human and non human running around his apartment. Onigiri chasing after your child, then the tiny pair stopped, and immediately running over to him. Perhaps you greeted him as you stand from the couch in the living room as his parents peeking out from the kitchen, the smell of his mother's home cooking filling the space.
A slice of family life. A new dream to yearn for. Wish for and hope to make it into a reality.
Trafalgar Law never would have thought in a million years that he would want such a domestic lifestyle.
If it were with you, Onigiri and the tiny little fetus growing inside you, then he'd decided he would be content and want nothing more.

Law refused to sleep in the same room as the Straw Hat idiots. The men's room had an unpleasant smell to the surgeon's sensitive nose. He joined the Straw Hat crew a few days ago, just for alliance reasons, and the few hours he's been sleeping have been in a hidden couch in the library.
Law has gone days without sleep before, usually resists quite well, but the recent events in Punk Hazard and the obsession with his plan to defeat Doflamingo, is taking its toll on him. The naturally dark circles under his eyes were even more marked. His body felt heavy and the headaches persisted for too long. He's a doctor, knows that he was on the verge of collapse, but he still refused to sleep in that unpleasant room. So drink large amounts of caffeine, even though he hate coffee.
Chopper has been watching the other doctor from a distance, worried and curious about him. During their time together on the island of ice and lava, he was surprised by the pirate's medical knowledge and took a certain respect and admiration from him. He wanted to be his friend, but the serious and dark appearance scares him enough not to approach his. That's why Chopper knows Law hadn't slept well in a while, could read the extreme tiredness in his body. In an act of bravery, he asked Sanji for help to make a special tea, which hoped would help him rest and regain energy, but he did not dare approach the man.
From the door of the library, where Chopper learned that Torao spent much of his time, with the hot cup in his hands he debates whether to close or not. Is afraid that he will take the gesture in the wrong way. He already looked quite moody sitting at one of the desks, leaning in a not at all comfortable position over a sea of books and notes scattered everywhere. The tension and frustration could be felt in the air around Law. He wants to help him.
"What's wrong Chopper?" Your soft voice makes him jump a little, scaring him. Some of the tea spills over. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't see you had something hot with you."
The reindeer's eyes shine when he sees you there. You can help him! Chopper had noticed that Law is a little more comfortable around you in the few interactions they've had. You had a calm and peace aura that used to help everyone relax. You're the ideal person to help in his mission!
"Oh, can you help me? Please" He asks you in a whisper, not wanting to be discovered.
You follow his gaze from the cup he holds out for you to where you see the new ally frowning at a piece of paper. His back must ache from the horrible posture and his eyes burn from the poor lighting. His characteristic hat lies to one side, leaving his mop of dark hair free. Your hand itches to run the tip through the strands that fall on the nape of his neck.
"Is this for Torao?" You ask him taking the cup. Chopper nods. "And you want me to take it to him?" Chopper nods again, happily.
You think about it for a second. It's true that you've spoken to the Captain of the Heart Pirates before, but were just casual chats. If you're honest, you were attracted to the pirate since the first meeting between the crews, two years ago. Law gave off an attractive, mysterious and addictive aura. You wanted to get to know him little by little, sure that beneath that bitter face there was much more. He had helped Luffy when none of you could. That fact made your attraction to him only grow. And with each day you spent together, you became more sure of it. However, you also have to be honest that it was a little scary.
But seeing him so stressed bothers you. And you understand that Chopper feels the same way. Both have taken a certain appreciation to the man.
“Mmmm,” you hesitate, biting the inside of your cheek. "What if we go together? It scares me a little, too" confess with a knowing smile.
It only takes a few seconds for Chopper to nod and extend his hand to take your free one. Determined, but slowly, you approach Law's desk. Up close he looks even more haggard due to insomnia and stress. The pirate ignores you two even though he can feel next to him. He's not in the mood to socialize.
You scratch your throat seeking his attention, Chopper repeats the action when sees that Law ignores you. Realizing that you won't leave, he sighs tiredly and turns to the two of you.
"What do you need?" He asks deadpan. His eyebrow raises when you leave the still warm cup on the desk, between a book and his forearm.
"Chopper made this for you," you gesture to the tea.
Law's gaze moves from you to the tea and to Chopper. It's hard to read his expression, so the doctor rushes to speak.
"It's an herbal infusion so you can rest better, Torao!" His voice sounds animated and he approaches the table, pointing out all the ingredients has.
Law just looks at him, a little surprised and touched by the reindeer's concern. Tenderness washes over him, and is so tired that a bit of his bitter expression falls away. Chopper is too excited about his creation to notice, but you can see through the frown. His lips tremble and you smile in recognition of victory.
You watch as the man looks at the cup with an indecipherable look before bringing it to his mouth, blowing gently before tasting the infusion. That insignificant action shouldn't weaken your legs like it does. His pursed lips as he blows the steam and his large tattooed hands wrapped around the small porcelain cup take your mind to places you'd rather ignore.
"Thank you."
His solemn but dry tone brings you back to reality. Up close you can see how tired he is, like he's about to pass out. Chopper seems to think the same from the look gives you. It's obvious that Law prefers to be left alone, but instead you point to the couch near the window, before heading there with Chopper. You both take a book and sit together on the couch, pretending to read while watch Law fight sleep as time passes. It's almost cute to watch him struggle to keep his eyes open. Somehow it's contagious, sleep begins to invade the two of you too. Chopper lets out a small yawn as snuggles closer to you. You imitate him.
The sun is about to disappear behind the sea when Law finally gathers his things and stands up. He's been aware of presence accompanying him, and if is honest with himself, it was a little comforting. Along with Robin, you were the Straw Hats who brought him the least problems, and who weren't complete idiots. That's why he drank the damn tea, even though getting sleep wasn't the main problem. He stood up only to stretch his legs and the stiff muscles in his back, preparing for another session of uncomfortable sleeping on the couch where you and the doctor were now resting. It was comfortable, not to sleep in, but it was better than the smelly room.
"Hey, Torao," you say quietly, noticing how sleepy the reindeer was. "You should go rest, you're too pale."
Law can't help but let out a short, sarcastic laugh, insomnia bringing out the worst in him. He tended to bring out his cold and sadistic side.
"And where the hell do you expect me to sleep?" His voice is thick with annoyance. "With that group of caveman tails?"
He is aware that is being mean to you, that you're not to blame for anything, but he can't help it. He is upset and frustrated. Lack of sleep only adds to a long list of worries to take care of. List that seems to be getting longer and longer.
You look at him, not taking his tone personally. He's stretching his muscles and bones, you can see some of his tanned skin exposed when he raises his arms. His face pale and sunken. And you think about his words. Yes, the boys' room is not the best option for sleeping. Always smells something bad and almost everyone snores.
Chopper wakes up next to you, uncomfortable with Torao's outburst, but willing to help him.
"You can sleep in the Nursing " he suggests kindly but shy.
You see Law open his mouth and hurry up before another snide comment escapes of his pretty mouth. You take the Chopper by the hand and as fast as you can you approach Law, taking his hand as well.
"That's a good idea!" You say as you drag them to the medical wing. "It's the best place to sleep. Let's take a nap!"
The medical area is close to the library, so it's a short but fun tour for you. You know if the Surgeon of Death wasn't so tired could easily take you down, but you're lucky. He just sighed in annoyance and exhaustion.
It's a large room that is not only used as an nursing, but is also part of where Chopper conducts his research. With such large limbs, the stretcher is wide and comfortable. You and Chopper have taken a few naps there, so you know it firsthand. You turn to them, Chopper is happy to find a comfortable place to rest, but the grumpy man only sees the large bed with suspicion.
You know where the doctor hides the best pillows and clean sheets, so you set out to make the ideal bed for ideal sleep. When you finish, happy with your result and take off your shoes. Chopper imitates you. Law remains static where you left him.
"What's wrong, Torao?" You ask, patting the stretcher next to you. "Come on, join us."
"I thought it would be an individual nap," he says, clearly uncomfortable. "I don't share a bed with anyone."
Lucky for you and the reindeer, you don't care. Roll your eyes, tired of him being so pessimistic and boring. When you're finally barefoot, stand up only to push him onto the bed. Apparently you have to do things by force. Law is surprised when you sit him down on the bed, next to a sleepy reindeer who pats the pillow, inviting him to lie down.
His face burn as you squirm in front of him, brows and lips pursed in determination. The view is something Law prefers not to delve into, not when there are people around and he is vulnerable from sleep. For his peace of mind, you only take his shoes and the katana out, leaving everything next to the bed. You also take the hat from his left hand, which Law took before leaving, unable to separate himself from it. You leave it hanging from the head of the bed.
"Lie down," you order him, firmly and with an unfriendly face. Law complains but does it. A sigh of relief escapes his lips, his back finally resting comfortably. "Good boy."
Law actually has to bite his lip to prevent the moan that seeks to escape at the compliment. You have more power over him than you expect and than he would like to admit. Chopper settles in next to him.
"I know it's uncomfortable for you. But trust it will be the best nap ever. It calms you down," he assures before closing his eyes.
Law remembers how almost every Straw Hat has said something similar about you at some point. That you bring peace. Harmony. Calm. If Law think about it, he has witnessed it. How you calm down the fights between the cook and the swordsman, or how you prevent Luffy from dying because of some hyperactive nonsense. He too has been a victim of such power, he realizes. The few times you've interacted until then, he's always felt even a little calmer. When Luffy first deviated from his plan, you grabbed him by the shoulder, laughing about how it was typical of your captain and how Law shouldn't worry so much. Coming from anyone else, it was kind of annoying, but it wasn't because it was you. You also helped him feel less desperate when everything seemed to fail. And you had only touched his shoulder.
Robin denied that you were a devil fruit user, and he would think it was a vile lie if he hadn't seen you swimming in the middle of the sea.
Then, he gave up. Fell onto the mattress. Closed his eyes and took a deep breath, his body finally relaxing. It felt good. He almost managed to fall into the clutches of sleep the instant his head hit the soft pillow if it weren't for his paranoia. Law felt something move next to him and went to defend himself when you grabbed his hand in the air. It was you, he recognized you by touch. You had turned off the light and moved slowly to lie next to him. He could barely see your face because of the starlight that came through the curtains.
"Shhh," you whispered nearby, watching as Chopper let out a small snore before moving closer to Law. "You're going to wake him up."
You didn't wait for a answer and laid down next to him, with one hand on his chest, pulling his body back to sleep. You weren't touching, but could both feel each other's warmth. It was calm. Law allowed himself to relax completely. Your muscles deflate and your spine finally has a rest. He feels the little reindeer snuggle against his right arm and smiles vaguely, remembering his first mate. Law really misses his crew.
"Law," you whisper after a while. The named freezes, it's the first time you've called him by his name and it's so... intimate.
"I thought we were going to sleep," he says, feigning harshness. He hears you move uncomfortably in bed.
"I know," you move closer to him. "But... can I hug you?"
His heart stops for a second. Law is not a man of tact, but he is urged by yours. Something he can't -or won't - identify vibrates inside him, cheering for you; for all of you.
"Yes," he whisper, softer and more devoted than he expects, but it's worth it.
Your body is even warmer and softer than Law expected. You hug his left arm, resting your head on his shoulder. One of your legs intertwines with his. It's not uncomfortable, it feels almost natural. One of your hands caresses his arm in a slow, gentle rhythm. Your contented sigh tickles his neck.
You're being bold, you know, but you can't help it. From the moment you saw him so discouraged and tired, you wanted this. You wanted him to rest. Let him rest in your arms. You wanted to feel the body of your precious Torao. You wanted to be warm just for him.
What really surprised you was feeling how his body calmed against yours, how they fit together like puzzle pieces and how his large, tattooed hand caressed your exposed thigh.
The big grumpy and cold Trafalgar D. Water Law dropped his mask for just one night. He let you and Chopper cling to his sides. He felt tickled when the doctor's nose rubbed against his side or when your hand moved from his arm to his chest. Only with Bepo could sleep so comfortably, and Law promised himself that if ever had the chance, he would allow you to join his naps together.
Chopper was right, you give the best naps. Now he had one more reason to steal you and take you with him, one more than your intellect and an incomprehensible desire to be by your side.
Robin entered the Nursing the next morning, looking for Chopper. It was a pleasant surprise to find the three of you in a mixture of hugs and sleepy caresses. A knowing smile adorned her face. She came out again, announcing to everyone that the Nursing was closed until further notice.
The sun is just starting to set when you step onto the deck.
The sky is painted in soft gold and fading orange, the ocean reflecting it in slow, shifting waves. The Polar Tang sits steady near the island, quiet for once.
You rest your hands lightly against the railing. Waiting.
He’s not late. If anything, he’d be early. So the fact that you’re the one here first… it makes your chest feel a little too tight.
Footsteps sound behind you, and you don’t turn right away.
“…You’re early.”
You smile slightly.
“…So are you.”
Then you glance over your shoulder.
And there he is, Trafalgar Law.
Something about him is different. Not obvious, but there. Less distant. Less guarded. Like he tried, without wanting it to look like he did.
He steps closer, stopping beside you. Close, but not touching. For a moment, neither of you says anything.
The village isn’t far. Small, quiet, tucked between the shoreline and a line of low hills.
You walk in comfortable silence, stealing glances at each other. Both of you trying not to smile too much.
The bookstore café is easy to miss.
A narrow storefront, warm light spilling through the windows, shelves packed tightly with books that look like they’ve been there for years.
You stop without thinking.
“…This is your ‘place’?”
“…Yes.”
You glance at him, a small smile forming.
“You took me to a bookstore.”
“…You read.”
“…I do.”
“…Then it’s appropriate.”
You shake your head, amused, and step inside.
“…I like it.”
A pause.
“…Good.”
The air inside is warm. Quiet. Soft conversation hums in the background, the faint clink of cups, the comforting smell of tea and paper.
You drift toward the shelves without thinking.
Law follows. Not hovering. Just… there.
“…You’re going straight for fiction,” he notes.
You glance back at him.
“…And you’re not?”
“…No.”
You raise an eyebrow. “Let me guess, medical texts? History?”
“…Occasionally.”
He pauses near a lower shelf. Reaches down and pulls something free.
“…This is… my guilty pleasure.”
You step closer, looking down at the cover.
“…Sora, Warrior of the Sea?”
You look up at him.
“…You’re serious.”
A pause.
“…Yes.”
You study him for half a second.
Then you smile. Not teasing. Just… interested.
“…Tell me about it.”
That catches him off guard.
“…What.”
“You said it’s your guilty pleasure. Everyone has one,” you say, tilting your head slightly. “So what’s it about?”
He doesn’t try to deflect for once. Doesn’t brush it off.
Instead.
“…It’s about a marine soldier who fights Germa 66. The structure is predictable. Clear conflict. Clear resolution.”
You lean slightly closer, glancing down at the page he’s opened.
“…That’s it?”
“…No.”
A pause. Then, quieter
“…He always does what he says he will.”
Something about the way he says it makes your chest soften.
“…You like that.”
“…Yes.”
You nod slightly.
“…I get that.”
He glances at you.
“…You do.”
“Yeah.”
You shift just a little closer, your shoulder nearly brushing his.
“…Read it to me.”
Another pause, but he does.
And you listen. Actually listen.
And somewhere between the lines, between the way he talks about it, you realize you’re not really focused on the story anymore.
You’re focused on him.
The way his voice lowers slightly when he explains something.
The way he gets just a little faster when he’s interested.
You smile faintly to yourself.
He’s… kind of adorable.
“…You’re smiling,” he says suddenly.
You blink, caught.
“…Am I?”
“…Yes.”
You glance back at the page, pretending to think.
“…I like it.”
“…The story?”
You look at him again.
“…Both.”
That stops him. Just for a second.
“…Both… noted.”
A little while later, you’re seated side-by-side. Tea between you. Books scattered across a table.
The quiet feels easy again.
“…Do you have a preference?” he asks.
“…For what?”
“…Fiction.”
You smile slightly.
“…I do.”
A small shift in his expression, almost teasing.
“…Well, tell me about it.”
You lean back just a little, thinking.
“…It’s an adventure romance,” you say. “The kind where they travel everywhere, get into situations they probably shouldn’t survive, and somehow still find time to fall in love along the way.”
He watches you.
“…That sounds inefficient.”
You laugh softly.
“It absolutely is.”
“…Then why do you like it?”
You shrug slightly.
“…Because it’s not predictable.”
“…And?”
“…Because they choose each other anyway.”
Your voice softens without you meaning it to.
“…Even when it’s messy. Or complicated. Or doesn’t make sense.”
You glance at him.
“…They don’t need guarantees.”
He goes quiet for a moment.
“…That’s risky.”
“…Yeah.”
“…And you prefer that.”
“…Sometimes.”
Another pause.
“…I can see the appeal.”
You smile.
“…Can you?”
“…Yes.”
The quiet returns. But this time it feels different. Closer. Like something shifted without either of you needing to say it out loud.
Law glances at you again, then at the books, and for once he doesn’t try to analyze it. Doesn’t try to break it down into variables or outcomes.
He just lets it exist.
Because somehow this moment, with you beside him, the quiet, the conversation, the way it all fits feels… right.
Every time you stared into Law's beautiful grey eyes. The color of winter skies or a warning of an incoming stormy sea approaching; it never failed to make your heart skip a beat or cause you to become caught in his gaze. His eyes always seemed to find you across the coffee shop as he waited in his usual seat. Even during the busiest mornings or late-night shifts, he would be there. Watching. Waiting. Observing. Now, more than ever, after finding out about your pregnancy.
The gaze that held yours with an intensity always made your skin prickle and your cheeks flush pink.
Trafalgar Law wasn't staring at you with hunger or disgust. No. He was seeing you. The world, apart from him, had become secondary when it came to you, in this shop, in this moment. You were the only one in his world to him. You and the child you carried now.
You were shocked to discover that Law would overtip. He'd even sneak queasy drops into your apron or little snacks when you weren't looking. You would reach for your phone or an extra pen only to discover you hadn't remembered putting the snacks or nausea drops into your apron. If it were Jess or Max they would give it to you in person. Your gaze shifted to Law as he resumed reading his morning paper. It was such a silly and simple gesture, but it made your heart flutter, a heated blush coating your cheeks, and a small smile worming its way onto your tired face.
"Try not to overwork yourself, Y/n." Law would remind you every day, every morning, and every evening.
That had been yesterday.
Now, today was your day off.
You needed to go shopping for maternity clothes, and stores were having an early spring sale in the middle of February until the beginning of March. Or was it until the end of March? You couldn't remember. It didn't matter. It was close to the end of your first trimester, and you needed maternity clothes... badly.
You tried to put it off, but your regular non-stretch pants were becoming tight.
Your mom and sister were sending baby clothes and maternity clothes by mail, even when you told them they didn't have to. They did it anyway. You were hoping to find some leggings or those biker shorts with pockets. Maybe some cute dresses and tops? Underwear? It couldn't be helped.
You pressed your palm flat against your stomach and felt nothing yet. No movement. No flutter. The quiet certainty that everything within your life had slowly shifted and changed centered around your child and your new role as a single mother. Slowly, your fears had ebbed; it hadn't faded, but you smiled. You weren't alone. You had Jess, Max, your mother, your sister, and... you had Law. That thought alone sent a tingle of warmth cascading throughout your chest. Law had been stunned and surprised in the beginning. You had seen the way he looked at children when he thought no one was looking. A secret feeling of pride and accomplishment for helping save their lives and send them back out into the world, where their whole future is ahead of them. As if to remind himself that Doctor and Head Surgeon Trafalgar Law was human, a man with feelings and warmth.
Deciding to dress in a white, knee-length sweater dress with pink hearts scattered all over, thermal leggings, and your thigh-high black boots, you reminded yourself that this little shopping trip and outing with Law wasn't a date. He was simply accompanying you in Jess' place. You had agreed to meet at a local coffee shop that wasn't where you work. You wanted someone else to make you coffee on your days off. Maybe get a muffin or a cream cheese danish? You had already even a small bowl of chopped strawberries and golden kiwis with your oatmeal, and now... You were hungry again.
You swallowed, rechecking yourself in the mirror. You wore your hair down and curling iron to give light waves and curves. Your cheeks heated. Oh yeah, it's not a date. You inwardly sigh. Fine, I'll do it for me then. Yup. You nodded your head and finished brushing your teeth. Light makeup and nothing more. Ugh, I sound desperate even to myself. You frown with your toothbrush in your mouth, huffing a puff of air out of your nose as light moisture strings your eyes, which you quickly blink away. No, don't start. Stop. It. Your stomach clenched. Your pregnancy hormones were really worse than period horny hormones. It didn't help that you have been sooo incredibly horny. Your libido is skyrocketing to the roof. Your face flushed further with embarrassment and shame that you had masturbated to the weekly videos Law had been sending you by email, informing you of the baby's growth and common questions or facts concerning your pregnancy. God... why does his voice have to be so sexy? It's not fair, dammit.
You felt the familiar ache, settling in your lower abdomen as your lower half throbbed and wetness dampened your panties. "How the hell did women in history ever deal with all this?" You mutter sheepishly to yourself after you spit into the sink, placing your toothbrush back into its holder and rinsing with mouthwash. "Those stupid smutty doctor romance books don't help," you press your forehead against the mirror and exhale a groan of frustration. "Thanks, Jess." You smirked to yourself as you exited the bathroom. "Don't worry, I'll get you back with all the bear shifter and cabin in the woods raunchy trash and smut that I find as payback." Then you tilt your head in thought. "Wait? Why's it so quiet?"
You opened the door to your bedroom to find Law waiting in your living room and playing with Onigiri?!
Law shifted his gaze from his spot on the floor, holding the mini rice ball chew toy you had found for Onigiri in his hand as your dog jumped in his lap, tiny paws on the doctor's chest as he barks and jumps to try and get it, tail wagging in enthusiasm. "Good morning." Law greets you casually. "Your dog sitter let me in and said she left for an emergency." A hint of a pink hue adorns his cheeks.
You were inwardly fangirl screaming in delight and horror. She had told you that it was the mailman dropping off packages! She didn't say anything about any visitors. She lied?! Why?! Then again, you did tell her that your new doctor had dropped you off at your apartment. You had said his name, but never showed a picture of him. Then how did... Shit, Jess! She and Max both have your dog sitter's contact information in case they need to take over looking after Onigiri. You can already picture your bestie and found sister showing off pictures of Law to your neighbor, gushing and gossiping about how cute she'd think you two would be as a couple. You knew your neighbor would agree.
The awkward silence filled the room as Law petted Onigiri, then stood slowly.
"I'm sorry for disturbing and coming over unannounced out of the blue," Law said, clearing his throat and shifting his gaze away. "I'll call next time."
Fuck, now he must think I'm a stuck-up bitch. You mentally shake yourself, swallowing. "No, it's okay." You gave him a small reassuring smile. "I was just about to head out." You pulled out your phone, frowns scrunching. "Law." You raised your face to see the tall, raven black-haired doctor rubbing the back of his neck. "You are forty minutes ahead of schedule."
"Given the travel time, the roads being packed, ice and snow... I figured I'd come early." Law tossed the rice ball squeaky toy, watching the black and white fluffy ball chase after it. "So, this is the famous Onigiri, huh?" His eyes shifted from the wall to your dog, a hint of a grin breaking out on his lips. "You never did show me that picture of him you promised."
"Well, excuse me, princess Traffy?" You sassed, rolling your eyes, then covered your mouth as your eyes widened. You did not mean to say that thought or nickname out loud.
"Princess Traffy?" Law brow rose in amusement. "Where the hell did that teasing nickname come from?" Although he had an idea.
"When Bepo fished you out of the ocean after you fell overboard during last year's Fourth of July beach event." You flushed hotter and tried to stiffen a laugh. "It was pretty funny."
Law's small smile flipped. "I saw something interesting and fell in... then had a leg cramp." He crossed his arms over his chest defensively, giving a light scowl and scoffing.
"Was it a commemorative coin or something else shiny?" You couldn't help but tease him.
Law's cheeks, the back of his neck and the tips of his ears were red. "Maybe." He clicked his tongue. Embarrassed that it was, in fact, a commemorative coin box shining beneath the cool waters of the salty ocean. He'd recognized a limited-edition, gold box when he saw one. He had stepped close to inspect it when a group of children ran and bumped into him, knocking him over as his hand and feet slipped, resulting in him falling into the ocean.
"Was it worth it?" You asked, tilting your head in earnest curiosity.
Law met your gaze, his expression softening. "Absolutely." His silver eyes lit up and brightened, a smug, victorious smirk forming. "It's Captain John's hometown."
You knew the loud, red-nosed dork Buggy The Clown was a huge Captain John fanatic. The man ran a family circus that spanned generations, but the Ringleader and Showman had always dreamed of being a pirate and finding Captain John's treasure. Supposedly, the great drunkard pirate captain had hidden a bracelet and a map on his hometown island before his death. "Did you sell it to Buggy?"
Law's smirk grew. "Hell no." He walked over to your kitchen island, picked up a plastic coffee cup. "I'm a perfectionist. If I let go of a rare coin, then it would be over my dead body."
You laughed at the memory of Buggy literally begging Law to sell him the coin, but the stubborn, prideful, and dark humor showing on the surgeon's face said it all. He wasn't going to sell it. Not even if Buggy was somehow able to shit a gold brick. If you recall Law's cold retort and hard refusal, shutting down the conversation completely. Oh, that made the blue-haired man so angry, he'd been red in the face. Highlighting his nose, which he was insecure and sensitive about, into a much harder shade. "Is he still hounding you for it?"
"Of course, he is." Law handed you a white chocolate mocha frappe from Moonbucks with extra drizzle, crushed oreos with a shot of java chips and espresso... what? "Decaf?" You ask after taking a sip, letting the frappe coat your tongue. You shrug, even if you did want the extra caffeine and pick me up.
"Sorry," Law apologized, grabbing a plastic brown Moonbucks bag and offering it to you, then rounding the kitchen to wash his hands before picking up his own black and double-shot espresso coffee. "I know the restrictions suck, but I hope the peace offering is a fair enough equivalent exchange?"
You peek into said bag. Your eyes widen when you see both a cream cheese pumpkin muffin and a strawberry cream cheese danish. "Oh my god, Law, how did you know?" Your eyes met his back, eyes sparkling and practically bouncing on the balls of your feet, doing a little happy dance in your living room without a care.
Law's lips curled, then reschooled his features as he placed the red dish towel with hearts back on the towel rack. "A little bouncing bunny might have mentioned it yesterday."
You stopped, flushing hotter. "Oh, I did, huh?" You had to stop yourself from hiding your face behind the paper bag. "Again, thank you." You do remember yapping to Jess about craving said things like the devil had possessed you. You tried ones from the other bakeries, which were delicious, but they weren't the same. Thank God, you didn't barf them back up. "I would have been heartbroken if I couldn't eat them... like pickles now." You pout. You are still disheartened that you still can't have butter pickles while pregnant. Even if Max opens a jar from the far side of the house, you could still smell them, and it immediately activates your gag reflex, causing you to grow nauseous. You had almost thrown up in the sink while washing dishes. Jess rushed to your side, then hollered for Max to close the pickle jar or eat'em outside.
Law gave you a tiny look of sympathy. "It won't be like this forever."
"I know." You go to the couch, sit down, and lay your stash on the coffee table. "I've been told it will fly by." You rest your hand over your stomach again, laughing to yourself. "But I swear if little monkey ends up loving pickles, we are going to have some words."
Law had to stop himself from snickering. "Little monkey?"
"Jess' nickname for the baby." You shrug, opening up the back and digging into your cream cheese danish first. "Well," you said in between bites. "She said little sea monkey first, then monkey just stuck."
"I've heard worse names for an unborn fetus or baby." Law added, sipping his coffee, amusement flashing behind his liquid silver iris.
"I think my sister called me peanut." You hum to yourself.
That caused a sad smile to crack across Law's face. "I used to call my sister little lamb." He stared at his cup of coffee, nostalgia setting in. "I think it's why my parents called her Lammy."
You swallowed the last of your danish, then sipped your coffee. "I didn't know you had a little sister." Your stomach sank and twisted into knots. Oh no, you accidentally opened up a sore spot in Law's armor. It wasn't intentional.
Law paused. "Had."
"I'm sorry for your loss, Law." A look of complete and earnest guilt crossed your face as you wiped your hands and fingers clean.
"Don't be." Law swallowed, remasking his face into a blank expression, but the hurt remained within his eyes. "It was a long time ago."
You set your untouched muffin into the fridge, put on your snow boots, and thick winter sky jacket. "I'm ready." You pet Onigiri as he sat down in his dog bed and paused to nuzzle his head into your stomach, giving the growing bump puppy licks. "Awe, thank you, Onigiri." You smile, picking him up to give him goodbye kisses and hugs. "I'll be back soon, my little rice ball."
Law waits patiently by the door. Trying not to crack from the double cuteness overload overwhelming his senses. His jaw aches, his eyes staring holes into your back, giving him the sensation that his eyes were threatening to pop out of his head like a stupid cartoon or animated film. The impulse to set down the coffee and take a video or blow up his camera roll with pictures began to creep in.
Onigiri leaps out of your arms, making a mad dash in Law's direction, breaking him out of his stupor. Law's eyes flicker downward, studying the energetic puppy running circles around his legs. "I think someone likes me." He mutters, amused.
"Don't you just want to scoop him up and stuff him inside the pocket or hood or your hoodie?" You laugh, stepping closer and grabbing your coffee from Law's hand.
Yes. Yes, he does. Law didn't want to admit that he would stuff him inside his jacket, drive to Corazon's house, and show him the god in person. But he couldn't. Maybe someday, if he's lucky. "What do you need to get?" Law decided to change the subject to distract himself from the cuteness. "I'll drive you anywhere you need to go."
"Maternity clothes and other personal items." You grabbed your purse, watching Law open the door, keep his eyes on the puppy in case the little devil tried to make a break for the exit.
Instead of bolting, Onigiri went to his food and water bowl, eating contentedly. Clearly, all tied and played out. He paid you two no mind. Waddling towards his dog bed and lying down, curled up between his onigiri squeaky toy, little blue blanket, and a teething dog biscuit.
Law had an idea to start bringing over and keeping some dog puzzles and treats in his car.
You slipped past Law without trying to bump into him, but you tried not to. Your chest brushes against his, making your hormones go haywire, leading to your aching and sensitive nipples stiffening. You held in a whimper and fought to clench your legs together. Please, don't notice. Please, please, oh, please! Your grip tightened on your purse.
Law's own breath caught within his throat from the simple contact. His jaw tightened and grinded harder, and a breathless shudder rolled down his spine. "Why again did your friend and neighbor leave?" Law asked stiffly, keeping his back to you to lock the door, closing and readjusting the front of his pants.
"Picking up her daughter, so they will be back soon, and Jess?" You say without glancing at him. "She wanted to get her nails done with her mom."
Law deadpanned. "You're joking." He turned around, watching you climb down the stairs. His heartbeat spiked within his chest, knowing how clumsy and accident prone that you were. The black-haired man rushed after you, gripping your free hand with his own glove-covered one. "Be careful." He bit out with a lot more bite than he meant to use.
You blushed deeply and accepted his help until you made it to his car. "Thank you again, Law."
"You're welcome." Law nodded his head, helping you into the passenger seat.
Opening your purse, you began to list off things you needed while buckling your seat belt as Law started the engine and drove off.
He listened while you spoke, keeping his sharp gaze focused on the road.
Law opened his mouth to ask if you were still hungry when your phone rang. He immediately closed it.
You unzipped your coat, pulled out your phone from your inner jacket pocket, glanced at the caller ID, and answered it. "Hello?"
"Y/n, I just wanted to let you know that I'm heading back to watch Onigiri." It was your neighbor.
"We just left." You said, taking another sip of your drink.
"Oh, good." She said, sounding excited. "By the way, great catch, sweetheart. He's a very handsome man." She whispered into the phone. "Is he the baby's father? You know the man you snuck back into your place with a while back."
You nearly choked on your drink, and it almost came out of your nose. "Wh-What?" You coughed, set your drink down into the cup holder between the console and the gearshift, missing Law's had as he leaned over to open the glove box and handed you a handful of paper napkins, pocket tissues, and wet wipes. "Th-Thanks, Law."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Your neighbor sounded embarrassed. "It wasn't right to pry into your business, but lord have mercy if you pass him up, then send him my way, honey." She teases.
"Law's my friend and doctor-" You coughed, in between blowing your nose. You should have said anything else and simply hung up. The cat was out of the bag now and her interest.
Law's hand gripped the steering wheel tightly.
"A friend and doctor making a personal house call?" She whispered closer into the speaker. "He likes you."
Your gaze landed on Law's face as your heart skipped a beat. His stoic mask in place aside from the irritated frown curving his mouth. The same mouth you wanted to kiss, wish sweet and filthy nothings into your ear... brushing kisses against your cleavage, panting in a sexy ragid rasp, or feel the vibration of his voice between your legs. "I'll ah... call you back. Thank you for looking after Oni, bye." You quickly hung up. Your face scalding as you faced forward, you blew your nose again, then noticed Law had pulled out a tiny trash can from seemingly out of nowhere. "When did that get here?"
"I keep it in the backseat." Law brows drew together. "Are you okay?" His eyes left the road for a moment to meet your heavy, flustered face; your eyes were dilated, and your breathing grew heavy. "Do you need to go back home?"
Oh, sweet merciful heavens, Law is so sweet. You knew that look. He's in full doctor mode. All serious. His mood and composure shifting from irritated to complete no nonsense, giving you his undivided attention. "I'll be okay." You squeaked, refocusing on keeping yourself busy and not trying to shift awkwardly within his black leather seats.
Law shifted his focus back on the road, mentally cataloging the symptoms and ailments. "Do you feel lightheaded? Or need to lie down in the backseat?" Law pressed, using that deep and measured tone when he was getting to the bottom of something one way or another.
You knew he took yours and the baby's health seriously. "Law, listen-"
He refused to back down. "I'll pull over, if you need me to." He had to remind himself to stay calm. Hypothesizing that you were either close to a panic attack or dehydrated, which wasn't ideal for your emotional and physical state this early within your pregnancy. Damn, if I had my medical bag with me, I could conduct a proper diagnosis myself after pulling over.
You took a deep breath, shifted to face him, reached over, and gently placed your hand on his arm. "Law." You called out to him again. This time, your tone became both gentle and firm. You felt his muscles flex beneath your hand, then immediately relaxed.
"I'm listening," Law replied, stopping at a stoplight. He shifted the car into park, then fully facing you and meeting your eyes. His silver's fully drinking you in. Your breathing had returned to normal; a rosy hue still colored your cheeks an adorable shade, and your eyes were warm, gentle, and patient. Searching his own as he watched anxiously for you to continue speaking. "Don't lie." He took one hand off the steering wheel and placed his hand on top of yours, the same thing he'd done when he'd confronted you after you told him you were pregnant in the employees' breakroom that day. "If you are feeling unwell, tell me. No matter how small or pointless you think it is." He paused, swallowing and trying to form the words in his head properly. "I can't help you, if you don't communicate with me whenever you are hurting, ill, or otherwise."
Now, you really did feel like a pervert. Here you were mentally undressing him moments ago after humiliating yourself. While this whole time, Law, dear sweet, Law, had become worried sick about your health and the babies' safety like a hounding mother hen. You used your free hand to place it on top of his gloved hand. You took a deep breath, knowing you didn't have much time left until the red light changed to green. "It was a reaction to being asked an embarrassing question out of nowhere." You lay his hand, then gave it a firm squeeze before removing it slowly to throw the dirty napkins and wet wipes away in the trash. "I appreciate your concern, and I'm sorry for upsetting you and causing you to worry and fret over me." You inwardly feel worse. "I'm truly lucky to have you in my life, Law." You whisper, shifting your body facing forward, bending down to pick up your purse between your feet to grab a bottle of hand sanitizer.
Law wanted to say the same. The words died in the back of his throat. He knew he shouldn't. Knew he couldn't. His inner voice and soul were screaming to unbuckle his seat belt, fuck the rest of the people and other cars, and pull you into his chest and kiss you. Kiss you until you become breathless as he unbuckles your seatbelt to drag you full bodyweight into his lap. He'd picked it perfectly within his head, playing like a cheesy Hollywood romance movie, Ikkaku and Bepo were always through in his face to study. He wanted to say how much he was grateful to have you in his life every single day for the last year since that winter's night. You became his joy, his light, his pride, and stole his heart; the heart everyone within his workplace aside from his closest coworkers thought he was a completely heartless and unfeeling workaholic.
He had to close himself off to do the work that he does. If he gave one hundred and ten percent of his emotional compacity to every single patient who comes into his office during on call and extra shifts to thankless people. People who came to his place during hours of being truly sick and needing help, or a lazy, self-centered jerk who faked an illness or injury to try to get a legal drug fix when they are completely healthy, or hamming it up. Every single day, working where one single mistake or error on paper or beneath a scalpel could cost a person their life or their job. He wouldn't be able to function properly. He's seen it time and time again with bright-eyed, freshly green, and inexperienced doctors who'd just graduated from college to pursue their careers in medicine. Those who were crushed would quit. Others would hide behind a smile and drink too much. Some would become bitter and would rather climb the ladder to make millions and not care about their patients.
Law, he cared. He cared deeply for those closest to him. Now, you and the unborn child had filled those two remaining slots within his heart; there was no more room, unless of course... someday, someday if you and he would have children of your own, if you wanted, if not, then he was fine with that.
Instead, what he said was. "Thank you for putting your faith in me, Y/n-ya." Law meant it. He meant it with all his heart.
The car in front of him began to move, and the one behind honked its horn, forcing you two to come back to the present.
There was a certain liquid softness within his usually calculating and fierce, serious gaze. Something familiar yet hard to name. Yearning? Longing? Setting your heart ablaze with a fleeting motion of a primitive hunger and ache that only he could fill, Trafalgar Law. Your heart pounding within your eardrums, your pulse hitting hot and fast within the tips of your fingers. Tempting to knock his hat off, thread your fingers into his inky black, thick and unruly locks, which looked fluffy and soft, so soft. You could smell his cologne and aftershave; it wasn't too strong. It was light and fruity with a hint of spice. Which made Doctor Heart Stealer even more irresistible. Every nerve seemed alive within your body, vibrating with anticipation and threatening to explode if you didn't kiss him.
The car horn behind you blared like a foghorn, then another joined in as someone stuck their head out the window and yelled, "What's the hold up?!"
"We should get going before someone calls the cops." You mumble softly, steadying your breathing, one breath at a time.
Law nodded his head in agreement. "I agree." He realigned himself back into his natural driving position, readjusted his review mirror to stare directly into the assholes face, set the parking brake back into drive, revved his engine, stuck his arm outside the driver's side window, and gave him the middle finger as he drove off. "Suck on my cock, asshole," Law growled beneath his breath.
Shit, angry and cursing Law was a real turn on. Wait. No, no, down, girl. Behave! You mentally screamed, then decided to stare out the window.
The driver behind Law cursed a string of profanities.
It appeared to be a redheaded mechanic, scowling and muscular.
You and Law remained quiet for the rest of the trip.
You stared at the dress. It was an impulse and cute. Not maternity, but... it would be so adorable to wear during the summer months. It looked stretchy, even if it had a zipper in the back. "Well, better late than never." You hum to yourself and proceed to put on the dress. You unzipped it, stepped into it, got it over your hips and over your arms, covering your body except for the back, then started zipping it up.
It would go past your midback. Opps. "I swear I grabbed the biggest size on the rack." You blink. It looks nice. Hugging your curves in all the right places, maybe a little snug around your chest and shoulders. "Oh well, you win some... You lose some." You reach behind you to unzip it.
Nothing.
You blink.
You hold beneath it and tug it down.
Nope.
"You've gotta be fuckin' kidding me." You muttered heatedly, then groaned out loud, and huffed a breath through your nose. "C'mon."
It's not budging.
"Just had to let your impulses run wild today." You whispered, glaring at yourself in the mirror, then closed your eyes and slowly opened them. You lick your lips and, steadying your nerves, counting to five, then stick your head out of the dressing room curtain. "Law?" You call out to him, your gaze meeting the bored, white-spotted hat-wearing doctor. "Could you give me a hand, please?"
Law immediately hears your plea and stands, coming towards you without a word.
You walk back into the dressing room and close the curtain, hearing his footsteps. Your heart thudding harder in your chest. You begin to regret wanting to try on this striped maternity dress, but it was so cute. You couldn't pass it up. If Law can't help you into it, then you would have to get it in a bigger size.
“What’s the matter?” Law asked smoothly, behind the curtain.
Your cheeks burn. “The zipper is stuck.” You admit sheepishly. “I can’t reach it.”
“Alright,” Law answered calmly and smoothly, his own cheeks heating. Just standing there, working his jaw from side to side. His fist tightens on the cloth curtain in his grasp. "I’m coming in."
“Okay.” You keep your back turned toward him, your gaze meeting his own through the mirror within the dressing room.
Law’s gaze left you to focus on the zipper in the back of the dress. He immediately recognized the problem. It wasn’t just that the zipper was stuck. “I believe you accidentally grabbed a size small.” His lips twitching, threatening to break into a grin filled with humor, but he kept his lips locked in place.
But you saw it from your view in the mirror. Your own embarrassed laugh and grin rose. “Damn, I think you’re right.” You bashfully try to hide your smile with the back of your hand.
Law saw it too. His hands found the zipper and slowly zipped it down, exposing more of your skin. You had taken off your bra, leaving yourself feeling more exposed. It felt more intimate than your first checkup with Law. "Would you like me to go back and get the correct size?" Law asked, backing away and locking eyes with your mirror's image. "Size Extra Large, right?" He tilted his head.
"Yes." You nodded your head, twirling slowly as your lower lashes fluttered. "If you don't mind, that is?"
Law swallowed, nodding his head. "No problem." He backed out of the dressing room completely, closing the curtain, lowering his hat over his eyes. "I'll be right back."
"Thank you again, Law." You replied through the changing room.
The Surgeon matched towards the direction where the exact same dresses were hanging on the closing racks. Law wondered if the universe was hitting him with some sort of karma for falling in love with an old-fashioned, honest, clumsy, and ditzy woman? Despite your flaws and forgetfulness, he adored you more for it. Once again, reminding him of his adoptive father. He shook his head, finding the dress in the correct size, then grabbed a bigger size in case you wanted it in a larger size when your belly started to show more. He held up both dresses, the same color, with a slight difference. He wasn't the best judge when it came to women's clothes. He figured it would be best to play it safe and return whichever one you didn't want afterward.
Law returned to you with both dresses, calling out to you again. "I grabbed sizes extra-large and two x, in case you changed your mind." Opening the curtain slightly, passing them to you, feeling your fingers brush along the back of his hand, he felt his heart pound a little faster
"Thanks." You had already taken the smaller dress off and hung it back in the hanger, leaving you in your underwear. "I thought maternity clothes wouldn't be any different than buying regular clothes, you know." You shrug, unzipping the dress, stepping into it, and shimmying the material over your hips. "Or I could have done the smart thing and put it on over my head." You muttered to yourself.
Law just stood here off to the side, leaning against the wall in case you needed help again. "Don't be so hard on yourself." He spoke softly, "Everything is new territory for you." Closing his eyes for a brief second and trying not to think about his gaze trailing over every inch of your, taking in every movement, every glimpse of exposed skin laid bare for him once more. Deciding to distract himself, he awkwardly cleared his throat. "You look beautiful in that dress," he exhales a deep breath and adds, "no matter what size you get, that is." Law dug the heel of his hand into the middle of his forehead. Why'd he say that? Now, he sounded rude.
"I really do like this one." You replied, laughing instead of getting upset or angry, which helped ease his nerves.
Law's shoulders sagged in relief, tugging his hat downward more. The man was exhausted, which wasn't unusual. Given he was the youngest, on-call head surgeon and doctor within the hospital he worked, exhaustion had become his constant companion since his university days and earlier within his medical career. Last night's operation had been brutal. Marines coming in one after the other, covered in blood, snow, mud, and battle injuries, some ranging from treatable to severely critical. However, every single patient had survived beneath his examination and operating tables. It was nights likes those that reminded him why he's a doctor and surgeon. He can't sit still and do nothing, watching helplessly while another life lies within his hands. Not like Lammy. He thought, tears prickling the corners as he tried to blink away the tears. Law feels useless as he watches his younger sister dying from Lead Disease. If only he knew what he knows now, then. Then Lammy would still be alive. Lammy would be healthy, smile, and she'd adore you.
Law covered his eyes with his hand. He needs to call home, back in Flevence. Check in on his parents. The anniversary is coming up. He's tempted to ask you to go with him. He doesn't want to go alone. Penguin, Bepo, and Shachi usually offer to go with him, yet they insist that Law take you along to try to become closer. Law's on the fence about it. He knows it would be selfish. You two weren't even a couple yet, and he already wants you to meet his parents. Let alone having both of his doctors apparently freaking when they find out you are pregnant, thinking the child was his. When it's not. The black-haired doctor lowered his hand and readjusted his hat. He knows you want to see the world. Perhaps showing you his home island will be a good start? But how to bring it up casually without sounding creepy?
You come out of the dressing room, wearing the dress you were dead set on trying on. "Law, what do you think?"
Law stares at you.
He's not saying anything.
After a long pause, Law exhales a deep breath. His earlier controlled and persistent lust reawakening, he felt his heart pound a little faster; his silver eyes trailing over every inch of your exposed skin as a puff of air hissing between his teeth, almost making him choke. He liked what he saw earlier, but now? There was no hiding his desire and approval; he quietly shivered despite the heat rushing through his blood and body. "It's..." He mumbled faintly, voice dripping with a breathless low grunt. The electricity and maddening fire of want came back full throttle; his sexual frustration and desire hit him stronger than ever, bubbling and flaring with a new intensity. "It suits you for whatever event you plan to wear it." Law finally managed to spit out.
If you didn't know any better... Law appeared to be blushing harder than you had ever seen him before.
"It's decided then. "You smiled to yourself and nodded your head. "I'm buying this as an added bonus."
Law blinked, "Why?" He's genuinely confused.
"Secret." You went back inside the changing room, closing the curtain and giggling quietly to yourself. "Thank you, Law."
Law stumbled towards the wall beside the changing room, again. Where he wanted to disappear as his overheating body began to shake. Lowering his spotted hand to cover his burning face. "Leave the spare in the changing room."
You peek your head outside while modestly keeping the rest of your body fully inside the changing room. "Why?"
Law uncovers his eyes, refusing to meet your curious gaze. "Why would you want to keep it?"
Your lips curl into a knowing smile. "What if I want to see that look on your face again when I'm full term, Trafalgar?"
That got him to meet your gaze. "You wouldn't." The surgeon thought it was a miracle that he kept his voice from cracking, fainting false irritation when his heart thumped harder beneath his inked chest.
"No law says I can't." You said in a sing-song voice, going back inside.
Law closed his eyes, then slowly opened them again when he noticed a stuffed animal. He cantered his head. "Is that a snow leopard?" He leaned off the wall as his body cooled, bouts of desire and simmering heat fading into an afterthought. The stuffed snow leopard came in a silver, blue furred purse with green and spotted splotches and a blue bow. Law found himself smiling. He knew exactly what first toy he wanted to get for your child. "How about we start with you?" Law mutters out loud. He picked it up, checking it for defects, it looked fine, no signs of wear and tear, and the tag was still attached.
He glanced around. "Now, how did you get here?" Everyone within the store was coming and going, doing their daily, weekly, or monthly shopping, not paying any attention to him or you. Law turned his back away from the display of bras, panties, stocking and other ladies' undergarments without giving a second glance.
Bepo, Ikkaku, Penguin, and Shachi peek out from their hiding spot.
"Holy shit, that was close..." Penguin sagged against Shachi and Bepo.
"Why did you put that there?" Bepo asked, glancing at Ikkaku as the polar bear mink fanned Penguin, who looked close to fainting.
"Saw her eyeing a few aisles back." Ikkaku whispered, smiling to herself in self-merriment, "I'm sure, Cap noticed." The brunette shrugged her shoulders. "Oh well, better late than never."
A strong pair of large, tanned, inked hands grabs the curve of your hips in a firm grip, yanking you towards his body. "Come here, beautiful." A man's voice grunts above you, spreading your thick thighs wide apart with his knees, pushing his hips forward to roll and grind his stiff cock between your hot, wet, and throbbing pussy. "Goddamn," he moans, his breath hitches. "You are already so wet for me, huh? Good girl."
Your eyes shut tight as you moan in answer.
"I asked you a question, baby." His heavy-lidded, quicksilver gaze meets your own dilated and lust-hazed eyes.
"Yes," you gasp, unclenching your fingers from the sheet to wrap your hands around his neck, then brushing his hair out of his face with soft, feather-light caresses.
"Will you become mine?" Law grinned at your answer. "Will you let me become yours?"
"Yes, Law! Yes! Please, please take me." You moan, watching the black-haired doctor hook your knee into the crook of his forward as he guides the cock head direction to your entrance.
"Once I claim you, we can never go back," He reminds, holding himself back from plunging himself deep inside your waiting sheath. He meets your pleading, tear-filled eyes. "Are you sure this is what you want?"
"I want this more than anything else in my life, Law." You roll your hips, trying to tempt and coax him to feed your insides his cock. "Please. Make me yours."
"Fuck," Law curses through clenched teeth. He leans down, claiming your mouth with his own as he thrusts his pelvis forward, spreading your fold and sinking inside, inch by inch, slow and steady. "C-cant say no, if you beg so prettily like that."
"Yes! Yes! Law, ruin me, fuck me, oh, fuck, yes!" You scratch and claw down his inked, tanned, and muscled back, claiming him back.
Your eyes snap open. You bite your lips to silence the moan stuck in your throat. Your orgasm hits you wave after wave of carnal bliss, leaving your legs trembling, back arching off the mattress as the vibrating and thrusting purple and blue vibrator quickly drives you to completion and borderline overstimulation. The mental image of Law above you disappeared as your eyes shifted to the video playing on your laptop. The screen blinds you for a moment until you focus on Law's voice, his eyes, his hands as you sink down onto the bed, twitching and panting, bottom lips quivering. Your lower half clenched around the toy, refusing to let go as you reached a shaky hand towards the little black remote and turned it off.
You were thankful your bedroom door was locked. Grateful that Onigiri was asleep in the living room with Jess, who insisted on helping you sort and organize everything Law had bought you for the baby yesterday.
Slowly, you begin to remove the toy, the stretching and feeling of being full; left your body as you silently gasped. Your juices and lube coated the silicone thallus as you sat upright, turned on your lamp light, began cleaning the toy and yourself, then placed everything back into the nightstand drawer.
You paused the video playing and took off your headphones, inwardly groaning. "How am I going to face Law this afternoon?" You want to scream into your pillow. "Today..." You absentmindedly place a hand on your belly. "We find out what gender you are, little monkey." You smile to yourself.
It's supposed to be warmer today.
You lay slumped down on your bed, nude and staring absentmindedly at the ceiling. Thinking about last night. Yesterday. It all felt dreamlike, a date with Law, instead of an errand day.
Jess won’t stop asking questions about yesterday.
"You mean Law paid for breakfast, lunch, and everything in your shopping cart?” Jess reloaded the dishwasher and hit the start button as she twirled, grinning from ear to ear. “On top of the extra gift, he refused to let you see until after he left?” She went to the cabinet that held your wine, pulled down two glasses and a bottle of Chardonnay you kept for special occasions, then pulled down your Welch's sparkling white grape juice for you. “Honey, you’ve got that doctor’s heart all a flutter.” She meets your blushing gaze as you shove packets of wipes into a three-tier, plastic storage container on wheels.
“He’s just being nice, Jess, nice.” You close the first drawer and start placing the diapers into the middle one. “It’s not like he actually wants to-” Jess cuts you off.
“Get into your pants? Kiss you? Rattle your bed off its frame?” Jess rolls her eyes. “Come on. You’ve got to be blind not to notice the way he treats you compared to his colleagues or other female admirers?”
You know she's right. Absolutely right. Law isn't heartless. He is a generally good friend within his small circle. He's the voice of reason. He's stubborn, pushy, controlling, sexy, funny, dorky, and God, oh bless the heavens for those beautiful silver eyes and cocky smirk. You were not helping yourself in your own denial. "But what if you are wrong?" You can't help but mutter out loud. Onigiri lying down, curled up between your legs as you sat on the carpeted floor, the pup nibbling a teething stick treat that smelled like peanut butter. Something Law picked out for Onigiri. The doctor claimed that he never had a dog growing up, but his adoptive father had a softness for animals. He'd share his snacks and food with domestic and wild animals, which Law had picked up on, too. "What if he never sees me as anything more than a friend who had a one-night stand and got knocked up? Just... a waitress?" Your eyes downcast, focusing on petting Onigiri, his fur soft after a bath.
Jess frowned. "If Law is an idiot for playing with your feelings like that, then I'd smack him over the head myself," she huffs, carrying a glass of each and offering you the grape juice before she sits down beside you, pulling you into a sideways hug. "Renowned doctor or not, nobody, and I mean nobody, plays with my sisters' heart."
The high and endorphins from your earlier release began to fade, leaving you sleepy and drowsy. "Need a nap before I go to pick up my paycheck." You mumble sleepily to yourself, reaching for a semi-thick blanket, covering yourself, reaching for your snow leopard stuffed animal, and falling asleep.
You wake up four hours later, Jess waking you up after making breakfast and walking Onigiri. "Rise 'n shine, mommy." She chuckles, knocking on your bedroom door.
"No," You groan, tugging your blanket over your head. "I don't wanna be mommy today."
"Tough luck," Jess uses a metal coat hanger to unluck the door, opening the door. She isn't surprises when Onigiri enters first, jumps onto the bed, wagging, barking softly, rubs against your showing baby bump, licks it, then paws at the blanket until the tiny furball crawl beneath to lick your cheek. "See?" She crosses her arms, leaning against the doorjam, smiling wider. "Little rice ball thinks mommy needs to get up too."
You can't get mad at Onigiri; he's too cute. "Oh, alright, alright. I'm up boy, I'm up." You giggle, cracking an eye open and cuddling him into your chest. You aren't surprised when he squirms out of your grip to snuggle against your belly. His new habit. He seemed to never want to leave your or little monkey alone.
"Two days of meeting Doctor Heartbreaker? Again?" Jess teases, fast walking to your closet and immediately picked an outfit. "It's going to be pretty today, so why don't you wear these?"
You peek your head out of the blanket. It's a yellow, floral babydoll blouse with blue flowers and a pair of blue denim maternity shorts with pockets and an elastic waistband that rises high to cover your bump. You couldn't lie; it did look cute. Jess knew you too well. You smiled and nodded. "Thanks." You sat up, lowering your blanket and slipping into an oversized t-shirt that reached your mid-thigh; the ache in your heart became less painful for a fraction of a second as you stood to your feet. "It's a health checkup and revealing the gender today is all."
Jess raised a brow and hummed. "Uh-huh, and I'm a nun."
You take the clothes offered to you and lightly bump her playfully with your hip as you walk past. "Haha, you would lose your sanity and vow of chastity the moment you saw Bepo in church... or a confessional. Admit it."
Jess sits on the edge of your bed. "Damn right, I would." She sighs dreamily. Her gaze shifts to find your laptop open and paused on one of Law's online videos and lectures; she frowns. "You need to hurry up and confess soon, Doc..." She glances at the closed bathroom door, hearing the shower running and her best friend and sister singing to herself. "Someone else could try to sweep her off her feet before long." Exiting out of the tab, shutting down the laptop and setting it back on your nightstand and plugged it in.
After you were clean and dry, Jess insisted on braiding your hair and applying a light amount of makeup, highlighting your natural beauty. She insisted on not missing the moment she would find out if she had a niece or nephew.
You and Jess were almost late for your doctors appointment with Law!
You knew the silver eyed, black-haired and sleep deprived doctor wouldn't have appreciated it. Maybe he would forgive you, but you can imagine that you would never hear the end of it, if you were late.
"I already texted Max we would swing by after your appointment." Jess said, shoving her phone back into her back pocket as she follows you through the front door, leading to the back after checking in at the receptionist desk, usual paperwork and questions. Bepo slipped you two into the back with a smile, which brightened Jess's Day.
"Oh, look at this cute little sea monkey," Jess gushed, staring at the ultrasound picture.
"Yeah." You grinned.
Unaware of a giant pair of sunglasses covering eyes staring at you as the person entered. His gaze became sharper, edger as he quickly closed the distance, strolling with long yet simple strides closer towards you.
The hair on the back of your neck rose. You glanced up, and a large torso came into view. You tilted your head up higher, and your breath hitched. A familiar pair of shades, an unnatural wide, predatory and flirtatious smile stared back. You leaned into Jess as he came to stand in front of you directly. No, towering, like a giant bird assessing you. Holy shit, it's the head of the Donquixote Family.
Jess was confused. Why were you squishing her? And why did it get dark all of a sudden? Her brows furrowed. "Y/n. What's wrong?"
"Good morning, ladies." The blonde giant wearing a thick, flamingo pink, feathered jacket greeted. Raising a right hand, sliding his large hand and fingers into your palm, tugging you to stand as he bends down from his towering ten-foot height, and kissing the back of your hand. "Are you perhaps Y/n L/n?"
"How- eep." You began to ask as Doflamingo wrapped an arm around your shoulder and around to hold you against his body heat and muscle clothed chest. He picked you up with one arm. "Sir, please put me down." Your heart pounded and twisted, stomach seizing in hard knots. "I'm terrified of heights."
Jess knew who Doflamingo was. He knew the CEO of the Donquixote family was as ruthless and nasty as a criminal warlord and modern-day mafia boss.
"Forgive the rudeness and my lack of manners, but I had to see the woman who's caught one of my old friend's eyes." Doflamingo's voice rumbled against you, holding power even more deadly than a blade. He could easily hurt you or make you kneel in submission with a simple curl of his fingers.
Now, he'd become a terrifying threat. It made your stomach drop lower and cold began to seep into your veins. "I think you might have the wrong person, sir." You whispered softly.
"Oh, but I do, my dear." He moved in closer, laughter bubbling inside him as you turned away and shivered.
Nobody within the hospital said a word.
Didn't care to intervene in the affairs of the mad CEO.
His body was hard against you. Sunglasses filled gaze lower to peer into the curve of your neck; it was unmarked. Doflamingo’s eyes travel lower, staring hard at the bump. "Is the child Laws?" He whispered, curiosity dripping in his tone.
"That is none of your business, Doflamingo." Law's voice answered, his calm voice came out chilling.
"I could end your carrier before lunch rush, brat." The giant blonde said simply, his tone icy.
His threat scorched Law's temper. “But you won’t." Law crossed his arms over his chest, defiantly.
“Why wouldn’t I?” Doflamingo growled, veins within his hands and neck were budging, his temper rising.
Law has an explanation faster than you thought anyone else possibly could while being glared at by the pink coat wearing, grinning menace. "I'm one of the best doctors currently available in his hospital and Rosinante wouldn't be happy, if you threw a temper tantrum and causing a scandal now, would he?"
"I could easily replace you one hundred times over." Doflamingo fired back, fully turning as his grip on you tightened a tad. Causing you to flinch, Jess to worry and Law's jaw to grind.
"Because you need me." Law added, his tone final as he pulled a scalpel out of his white doctor's coat pocket. "Now, would you so kindly set L/n-ya down, Doflamingo, or God so help me, I'll rearrange your insides and body parts piece by piece."
The air became thick and heavy with tension as the two men remained their ground. Doflamingo chuckled darkly and purred in challenge. "Is that right?"
Law stepped forward, his silver eyes darkened into hard edges and anger.
Doflamingo bend down. "Retract your claws and fangs, Law." He laughed harder and louder. "Fufufu, I didn't come over here to fight."
“Then why did you come?" Law scoffed, stepped forward, wrapping his hands around your wrist and dragging you closer into his chest, then behind him.
"I have my reasons." Doflamingo replied rising to his monstruous height, readjusting his pinky coat and sunglasses. "I'll see you in your office." He waved The Surgeon off. "I already know the way."
“Which are?" Law followed the giant blondes retreating figure.
“None of your concern at the moment," Doflamingo replied, his lips twitching and tugging higher into a knowing smirk. "Good day, little kitten."
Kitten? Did he mean you? Eww.
"They must concern me since you’re here." Law snapped, his teeth grinding harder.
Doflamingo waiting for the elevator to opened, one reserved for one of the giant or taller humans.
Law turned towards you, frowning slightly. "I'm sorry for his rudeness. Don't pay him any mind." He whispered, his grip becoming gentle as he reluctantly releases you.
"Thanks, Law." You swallow and offer him a reassuring smile, which doesn't make Law any better.
That stupid, feathered bird had to come back now. Law thought bitterly.
Jess decided to interject and guided you towards the exit. She glared at Doflamingo without fear. "Don't worry, Y/n." She raised her head high. "He's just trying to mess with us." Jess faced forwards. "Snobbish, rich bastards like him have too much free time and money on their hands," she snorts in disgust. "He's lookin' for something to entertain him of his boredom."
Doflamingo chuckled in amusement.
Law watched you two leave. He turned sharply, scowling and heading towards him, his tanned, inked fists white knuckled. "Let's make this meeting quick, I'm busy." He ordered, not carrying if Doflamingo was nearly two decades older than him. Or the brother of his savior.
"I'm certain that you will change your tone soon, fufu." Doflamingo quipped as the elevator dinged, then both men walked in.
Law saw your form disappear as the elevator door closed. At least he knew you were safe now and far away from Doflamingo, for now.
-----
After the joyous moment had been shattered.
You and Jess walked into the coffee shop to sit down, drink some coffee and each split a Godiva cheesecake.
Max knew something was wrong given your near tear-filled expression and how pissed Jess looked when you two walked in.
"God, of course, that stupid Doflamingo had-" Jess began to rant, then you reached over the table to cover her mouth.
"Shhh," you whisper. "Don't bring it up. Everyone in this own knows how powerful, evil and twisted the eldest Donquixote is Jess. He's the one everyone calls even the devil's price is too high." You felt Jess release an angry huff against your hand, then nod.
Jess reached into her pocket and handed you the ultrasound. "Here, you can have this back." She smiled sheepishly, awkwardly rubbing the back of her neck. "I already sent it to Max and mom, so only they know."
"That's fine." You took the black and white picture. You can't believe it your having a-
A familiar voice calls out to you from across the coffee shop.
A pair of black charcoal eyes, mischievous and carefree smile and a freckled face, wearing an orange cowboy hat caught your attention.
"Ace?" Your eyes widen.
Jess' mouth dropped. "Oh, holy shit, no way."
You and her both stare at the father of your child.
It's been exactly six months since that night.
He's back.
----- end of chapter 8 -----
Woohoo, another chapter so quickly!
I know Doflamingo coming in suddenly out of nowhere again makes no sense, but it will! And *gasp* Ace has finally returned?! Uh oh.
I know the spice scene was shorter than I usually write... but.. I have to tease somebody else besides myself, right? Is that bad? X/////x
Doflamingo strides that weird, birdlike walk a few paces behind Law as nurses, doctors, and visitors or patients scrambled to get out of the way. They all saw the deep, hard-edged glower set on Doctor Trafalgar Law's face as he led his amused adoptive uncle through the hospital and towards his main office. "Fufufu, why are you so tense, brat?" He hummed, acting as if he didn't know exactly why. Or that he caused Law's temper to flare hotter. "Does it have something to do with that cute pregnant kitten that left?" Artificial light reflects off his highly expensive sunglasses, his eyes trailing down Law's tense shoulders, knowing the next question would be disrespectful; both towards you and Law. "Is she carrying your bastard?"
Law whirled around. "I told you it's none of your business who I'm sleeping with or not, Doffy."
Whispers and murmurs were already spreading. Circulating that someone had stolen Doctor Heart Stealer's heart and seduced him into their bed. Could he have been having an affair with a pregnant woman?
"Did he have an affair with a patient?"
"How many pregnant women have been scheduled for today?"
Law's angry, seething silver eyes swerved toward the two gossiping male nurses, who were whispering rather loudly and rudely. "One more word and I'll demand both of you to hand over your resignation notices immediately," he said through gritted teeth. "Are we clear?"
"Yes, sir!" The two nurses nodded fearfully and dashed down the hall.
"She's a rare kitten to have gotten underneath your skin, fufufu," Doflamingo commented, licking his lips. "I didn't notice a ring on her finger." He tilted his head, "You wouldn't be so protective if she wasn't your lover or..." His grin widened. "She's someone else."
"She doesn't belong to me or anyone else." Law countered, no matter how much he wanted it to be a lie.
"She's single, then?" Doflamingo raises a brow, pushing his teasing.
"Don't you dare touch her with your filthy hands," Law growls underneath his breath as he resumes storming in the direction of his office. "She isn't one of your air-headed, breast-implanted, fake, flashy, gold-digging floozies."
That caused Doflamingo to laugh loudly. "She's single, and you want her."
Law's heart skips a beat; his cheeks and ears redden. He didn't answer until after they reached his office. The Surgeon recomposed himself, taking a deep breath, letting it out slowly as he opened the door. "We both know you don't come down here for nothing unless it's important," Law began stepping through and entering, crossing the threshold and stepping toward his desk without holding the door open or waiting for Doflamingo to step inside first.
Doflamingo's giant and infamous smile wavered, flickering into a slight frown before he quickly remasked it. Given what other people think, Doflamingo does hold a semblance of softness for his adoptive nephew. He doesn't bother sitting down in one of the ridiculously small normal human chairs; instead, he chooses to remain standing. "I won't be here long." He watched Law walk around his desk, sitting down, folding his hands together, and giving him his casual, calm, and serious expression. The CEO knows he isn't going to be particularly thrilled about this news. "It's time for you to find a wife." He replied, completely firm and humorless.
Law's body stiffened. Dammit, he should have known the strutting flamingo was going to bring this up. Again. His eyes narrow. "We've been over this," he began, feeling his muscles knotting and his teeth grinding. "I'll marry whenever I'm ready."
Doflamingo shrugged. "I knew you'd say that." He smirked; his air of enormous self-confidence and narcissism returned. "The Executives and Board of Directors won't let it slide this time."
Law's gaze narrowed in suspicion. "The deal was I'd be free to do as I please until I'm thirty." He reminded, trying to keep his voice calm and level. "You nor Cora never married."
"Hence, the issue," Doflamingo said, making a scoffing sound. "I do not wish to be tied down, and Rosi refuses to move on from his fiancée's passing, and the only heir she carried died with her." A hint of sorrow crossed his face before it disappeared. "You can see the problem as black as day, Law. You are our only living relative to inheriting the company, title, and fortune with it."
Law raised a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose between his thumb and index fingers. "Cora, I understand, but..." He raised his cold gaze to the towering, annoying blonde and laughed. It wasn't warm. It was short, cold and disbelieving. A laugh that felt like the only natural and available response for the ridiculous conversation that were repeating right now at 10:30 in the morning. "Why can't you find a suitable woman to pass on your gigantic, inhuman genetics or surrogate and be done with it?"
Law knew he sounded harsh, given how much he does for you and can appreciate all of your pregnant figure. He never knew he even made a pregnancy kink until you started to show. Law forced the heated blush down at the daydream he had last night after he'd escorted you home and helped carry everything back into your apartment.
How much he'd worship you. Wanted to touch you all over, especially your pregnant belly, wanted to keep the child kicking as he held you naked in bed, before devouring you, or let alone cock warning him at his desk while he worked. The dress you bought did not help matters either. I'd much rather marry Y/n than whatever stranger Doffy and his lackies have picked for me. Law cleared his throat, raised his head, and sighed. "Why are they rushing this?" He asked, trying to act unbothered and unhurried; knowing Doflamingo was leaving out something, Law could feel it.
"I would prefer not to repeat myself again, Law." Doflamingo uttered, his knuckles clenching. The prominent veins rising in his neck and forehead signaling he was tired of playing these games, circling round and round and slowly losing his patience. "I have been patient and lenient until now, but now playtime is over," he pulled a thick and heavy looking vanilla envelope out of the inner pocket of his pink feathered coat and set it down on top the desk. "These are the candidates for your future bride, if you are displeased by any of them then you are free to choose your own," he paused, leaning down to hover and crowd Law, intimidate him, his large, thick fingers tapping on the envelope, "however, if you fail to reach the deadline I've set, then I'll choose your bride for you." Doflamingo's tone was final, leaving no more room for argument.
Law peered down at the envelope, his displeasure and annoyance showing. "I assume you've already started creating the marriage contract?" Something in his gut told him something much have happened, if Doflamingo was pushing for Law to marry three years before their original deadline. "I'll need an updated copy to review it." His gaze flickering back upward at Doflamingo. "You can fax it to me by Monday."
Doflamingo stared at Law; he didn't say anything. Simply surprises Law was agreeing so quickly, when the young surgeon usually would have disagreed. Now, he's intrigued and interested. His mood improving, lips curving back his charming, all knowing and arrogant permanent smile. "I'm glad that we've come to an understanding." He straightened his spine. "I'll call you at the end of the wee." That annoying smirk bleeding into his voice. "Good day, Law."
After Doflamingo left Law finally released the curse that had been stuck in the back of his throat during the whole conversation. "Damn," he whispered, staring down at the date on top of the envelope, sitting unwanted and ominously in the middle of his desk. He hated being told what to do. Doflamingo knew that. Anyone who knew Law personally knew that. He already had a pretty good idea who some of the potential male and female partners who were in there. Nico Robin, for example. The daughter of a famous family of scholars and archaeologist from Ohara. Someone who shared Law's temperament and dark sense of humor, beautiful, even, but on the few occasions they had met... there had been no spark. Mutual understanding, yes. But not the passion and peace he craved whenever he wasn't with you.
Law frowned and closed his tired eyes. "The hell has gotten into that overly, pampered, arrogant jackass now." Law leaned back into his chair, letting out an exhausted groan as he ran his fingers through his hair. "Changing the deadline when he knows full well that I don't like being told what to do." The Surgeon scoffed, sitting upright, tearing open the wax seal on the thick envelop with a letter opener and pulled the ridiculous stack of paper and paper clipped photo attached into a heap on top of his desk.
Just as he'd thought, Law's irritated brow twitched. Men and woman who reeked of generational wealth, old money, and blind arrogance who thought they didn't need to work a day in their life as long as they had daddy's money, or their rich, overworking sugar daddies and mommies to pamper them and blow their hard earned millions on them with a manicured hand, fake lashes and promises of sex as payment.
Law'd must rather spend his vacation days buried in work than ever paying someone for sex. Let alone becoming someone's puppet and meal ticket. Not including all of the drama. His frown grew into a scowl as he filled through the pictures without giving them a second glance. He knew it.
Nico Robin.
Cavadish.
Perona.
Sanji Vinsmoke
Roronoa Zoro
Monkey D Luffy
Law paused, his molars grinding. "Luffy? Ace's younger brother? Really Doffy?" He continued skimming through the stack until... The very last he reached the last of the pile. His blood ran cold, then skipped a low thudding beat. You. Your picture and information and a professional take photograph taken from a zoomed in angle started back at him.
The name on the paper made Law's half annoyed, half bored silver eyes widened. "This... This must be impossible..." He muttered in disbelief.
Y/n D L/n Donquixote
You looked absolutely nothing like Doflamingo or Rosinante!
Given Law was only adopted into the Donquixote family by the younger brother.
What rotten luck had his checkered fate fallen into his lap now?
Law scooted his chair back until he yanked his large, chunky, heavy metal grey filling cabinet until he found your file, and rolled himself back to his desk. He nearly slammed the new file open as he placed it next to the other piece of paper; skimming and comparing the data. It was an exact identical copy, except for the Will of D initial and the noble, ancient name shared with his adoptive father and uncle.
There was a logical explanation or a mistake.
Law reached for his cell phone out of his back pocket, glaring hottly at the screen after unlocking it and scrolling until he found the number he wanted. Scrubbing his free hand down the front of his face, feeling a headache forming behind his tired eyes. "Come on, dammit." He grumbled grumpily, tapping his inked index finger on the bridge of his nose. "Pick up, pick up."
The receiver continues to ring, signalling the oaff on the other end hadn't picked up yet.
Finally, he answered. "Hello, Law?" The voice sounded surprised and half asleep. "You hardly ever call-"
Law's temper began to cool, guilt settling in. "Doffy came to visit himself to my office today," he began, interrupting the person on the other line. "Changing my marriage date and contact ahead of schedule. You wouldn't know anything about it would you?" He whispered heatedly into the phone.
"Ah, shit." The man on the other end cursed and sighed. "Alright, I'll meet you in an hour at the usual place."
While Law was experiencing his own personal crisis.... It appears that Karama was biting your own ass.
Oh my god, why?! You inwardly panicked. "Did you know he was back?" You whispered between you.
Jess was sitting across from you, genuinely shocked herself. "I didn't." She said, her eyes filled with concern for you and genuinely taken off guard as you, which was a rare occurrence given her love for gossip. "Do you want me to turn him away?" She reached over and grabbed your hand.
You could. It would make things easier, but... you glance down at your belly, hand rubbing softly. "It wouldn't be right or fair." You sigh, turning back to meeting Ace's warm and patient dark eyes. Quietly observing him, a habit you had picked up as a barista.
You could tell a lot about a person by now they waited for something. If they were constantly checking their phone or quietly muttering to themselves in nervousness, tired, irritated and impatient by the tapping of their finger or foot; Ace showed none of those. Ace stood there, waiting. He was sincere and patience, smiling that genuine bright smile of his. Knowing full well, how last time went. That night.
Ace had eased your loneliness.
He'd held you fiercely as you rode him, all of your shyness and humble flirting gone. Replaced with wonton moans of pleasure and lust, the alcohol in your system fueled your desire, but you weren't drunk and neither was he. "That it, gorgeous." Ace groaned beneath you, muttering words of encouragement, staring up at you with a feral and all-consuming hunger and fire that left you tingling and burning hotter, hornier. "Ride my cock like you own it." He chuckled in-between grunts and moans.
"Ace!" You exhale breathlessly, arching your back, completely sitting down to angle your hips, helping him hit deeper inside.
Ace's grip tightened on your hips. "Sit and let me take over." He spread his legs wider, holding you completely still as he bucks his hips upward, pounding hard into your soaking wet and needy, greedy core. "Fuck," he growls, eyes rolling into the back of his head as you tilt your head back, keening louder. "Y'er perfect, darling. Your pussy is perfect." He doesn't' stop, slamming his pelvis against your already shaking thighs, feelings your legs beginning to shake. His dark, lust filled and blown pupils brightening. "Gonna come f'me again already?"
"W-We just got started!" You protested, whimpering, your hands tightening on the headboard, nails scratching into the hardwood. You feel so good. You don't want to stop. "Ace!"
Ace doesn't mock you. No, it makes him giddier and more determined to make you fall apart first. His competitive streak coming out to play. "Go ahead, let go, princess." Ace takes a hand off your hip, licking thumb and middle finger, the same things he used to finger you earlier and climax as he ate you out. "Don't worry about me. Worry about making yourself feel good, baby." Those same fingers were rubbing your swollen and neglected clit, causing your breath to hitch and stutter as you gasped. "It will be sexy as hell to watch you come like this."
You open your eyes, lowering your gaze to find him watched you intently. "Ace," you half moan, half whisper again, letting his name roll of your tongue with a thick exhale filled with desire that makes men crazy. Your insides were squeezing and fluttering around his condom wrapped member, begging for his cum. You wanted to be safe. Paranoid that your overly hormonal, ovulating and sex starved body would betray you. How ironic.
It didn't take long for Ace to help you reach your peak again.
When you came down from your high, vision clear and no longer seeing starts. Your body was a completely mass of Jello and happiness as you sunk down on top of Ace's chest, trying to catch your breath. "Shit," you laugh softly, tickling his chest. "That was-"
Ace cut you off, switching your positions with ease. Him on top and you beneath him. "Don't tap out on me yet." He grins down at you, mischief shining, his cock throbbing hard inside your sensitive, hot walls. "My fire hasn't burned out and I haven't come yet." His hands lower to your thighs, spreading them wider, wedging himself deeper inside before rocking his hips, thrusts, more timed, slower, dragging lazily and teasing.
You whimper, tangling one hand in his thick, wavy locks as you pressed your mouthing into his own, moaning and panting; you felt him melting into your embrace. His pace became slower and more sensual as he returned the kiss in earnest, his hand left your thigh to entertain with your hand and causing you to laugh. "You aren't falling for me already are you, Ace?" You tease him softly, breaking the kiss and kissing the tip of his nose, then his freckled flushed cheeks.
"It's a secret." Ace whispers, joining in your laughter, then groaned in pleasure when your pelvic muscles tightened and squeezed him deliciously. "Hey, that's cheating." He arguers softly, hint of false scolding as he narrowed his eyes playfully and stopped.
"Who's winning?" You fire back, blinking your thick, lashes at him, but you couldn't hit your smirk.
"Me, of course," Ace huffed, a spark of challenge rising. "I've made you come three time already, so I'm winning."
"Not for long you're not." You raise a brow, grabbing a fistful of his hair, then leaning down and biting his neck. "You better give me all of your cum until you are bone dry, Fire Fist." You mutter into his sweat covered skin.
Ace's breath hitched, moaning, his hips thrust on reflex, his cock hardens harder and pulsating in time with his drumming heartbeat. "Yes, ma'ma."
You chuckle softly, letting go. "Good boy."
By the time you two were done.
Ace came four times.
It was three o'clock in the morning.
You blink back to the present, inwardly steadying yourself and your pounding hard as you stood to your feet slowly and proceeding to walk towards Ace. Here goes nothing. Ace didn't seem like the type of man to run off with his tail between his legs after getting a woman pregnant. Yet, you never know. If he does. You couldn't blame him. You saw his eyes lower from your face to your stomach, tiling his head in curiosity, then watch his dark onyx colored eyes widen as realization dawns on him.
After his silent and initial shock passes, Ace swallows thickly and his expression returns to normal. He rises a hand to awkwardly rub his jaw, then lowers and shows a hint of a smile. "Is now a bad time to talk?"
You couldn't lie to him. "It's pretty awkward, if I'm being honest but..." Your eyes remained locked on his, watching his jaw twitch and threatened to lower into a frown. "We can still catch up, if you'd like?"
A youthful, childish and hopefully yearning look flashed across his face. "I can compromise." His dark eyes shifted over to Jess, peeking over the convenient magazine in her hands. "How's Friday night sound?" Ace winked, his cheerful and breathtaking grin returned as he reached behind him to place his orange cowboy hat on his head. "Do you still have my number?" His attention returns to you.
Your blush deepened. "I do," you whisper softly, feeling multiple pairs of eyes starting curiously in yours and Ace's direct. Your heart was thumping harder as you inwardly began to panic. You can't hide from Ace forever. Nor could you not tell him, even if you originally said you wouldn't. Ace had a right to know that he's the father of your child. That the tiny little girl sea monkey was his. You had often wondered if your little girl would have Ace's freckles? Or dark eyes or black hair? His infectious grin and mischievous spirit? Or his fiery temper of his youth, which he'd admit he'd never been proud of. If it's a painful flaw of his... He never runs away from a fight or protecting his friends or family. You thought, lowering your head and anxiously nibbling on your lower lip.
Ace silently steps forward and grabs your hand gently, his familiar warmth makes your cheeks burn hotter. "I'd never peer pressure you." He whispered, his words were genuine and sincere. "If you don't want to see me again I'd understand." He didn't want to admit, you had plagued his thoughts these last six months since that night. He'd daydream and dream of you. Kissing you, aching and burning for you after many sleepless nights or waking up in the middle of the night with a nearly embarrassing and throbbing erection. Sensation, panting and shamefully close to bursting against his sheets to the dreamlike haze of your ghost-like touches.
Ace's hand twitched, tempted to brush aside a lock of hair to rethread it behind your ear. He wanted to admire your adorable and easily fluttered face.
"Friday night." You agreed, remeeting his gaze.
Ace smiled wide and bright like the sun. "It's a second date, darlin'." He kisses the back of your hand, leaning forward and mumbling in your ear. "I'll pick you up at your place around five pm." Keeping his memorizing charcoal hues focused on you.
"Sounds great." You blurted out. Then guilt stabbed your chest. Law. Before you could correct him, familiar voices call out to him, stealing his attention.
It was Luffy, Sabo, and Marco. Ace's two brothers and their gangs doctor. Their multiple sets are curious and all knowing stares burning holes into your figure. It wasn't Marco or Sabo you worried about blabbing... It was Luffy. Sure, he can keep a secret but if anyone asked him or tried to question the StrawHat wearing monkey.. he can't lie worth shit.
"See you Friday night." Ace kisses the back of your hand again, letting his touch and lips linger a moment longer before heading back to his group and letting go of your hand. His tanned, freckles cheeks were pink. "Enjoy the rest of your day." He waved without glancing behind him.
"Damn... Someone left an impression on that cowboy, huh?" Jess said, wrap her arms around your neck loosely into a hug from behind. "Docs competition came back."
"Ace was just being friendly." You reply, watching them leave out the door.
Ikkaku and Penguin who witnessed the whole exchange were inwardly screaming after picking up coffee and baked goods for their colleagues.
"Who the hell is that guy?" Penguin grit his teeth, taking multiple photos. "Does he have a fetish for pickin' up pregnant women?"
Ikkaku clenched her fist, holding the giant bag of pastries and muffins in a giant tote bag, dangling from her shoulder. "He clearly knows her, dummy." Clobbering him over the head.
"Ow!" Penguin nearly drops his phone to hold his aching head. "She never talked about a cowboy biker." His scowl lowers into a frown.
"it's none of our business." Ikkaku sighed, snatching his phone to delete the photo, but unfortunately sent it to their afterwork group chat which made up: Ikkaku, Penguin, Shachi, Bepo and Law. "Uh oh." Ikkaku realized her mistake. "Shit, oh shit, no, no, no." She began to outwardly panic. Pressing on the message in hopes to delete it fast before Captain see it - "Fuck. He saw it.." She shoved the phone angrily into Penguin's chest.
The notifications on penguins said phone was blowing up.
"I'm so dead." Penguin cries, tears falling down his cheek.
"What did he say?" Ikkaku asked, sheepishly.
"I'm too scared to look." Penguin replied, visibly trembling. He covers his eyes, shutting his eyes tight, then peeks through his fingers. "I can already feel that blizzard and icy stare now."
Ikkaku and Penguin gather the coffees and pastries, leaving briskly out the door.
Multiple surprised emojis appeared beneath the picture... And a meme of a grumpy cat, wearing a spotted leopard print, fuzzy hat.
