Just failed my theoratical exam (for my drivers licence), again.
The Solid Solution were a five piece soul harmony group from Detroit Michigan. Who during 1978 recorded the highly acclaimed “Loving You” album for the short lived Silver Spoon record Label. Although at the time of the album’s release and following an initial period of local success unforeseen circumstances would eventually conspire against the group reaching the success they so richly deserved.

**Kutnahorite **
Calcium carbonate is well known as calcite or aragonite, but forms what is called a solid solution series in which iron and manganese can substitute for calcium in the crystal structure forming mineral end members known as dolomite (magnesium), ankerite (iron) and kutnahorite (manganese). The type locality is the town of Kutna Hora just outside Prague in the Czech Republic.
Manganese usually makes for lovely pinks or reds, and the bright pastel colour of this 6.2 x 6.1 x 3.8 cm set of crystal sprays from the Wessels mine in South Africa is typical of the genre. Kutnahorite can also be white or light brown (as the iron content increases). It shares the perfect rhomobohedral cleavage of calcite, and occurs in manganese rich sediments and altered ore deposits. It is found in Italy, Colorado, Japan and South Africa.
