When I make a home from a house, I want it to be a safe house, free from any of those kinds of things. I want my daughters, if I have daughters, to be safe and confident and I’ll end any man that hurts them. I want them to be able to tell me if anything happened. And if I have son’s I want them to feel responsible for the safety of the women around them. None of this boys egging on boys bullshit. Call out your mates when they say or do shit things.
And I want victims to be able to let their guard down in my home. I want them to relax and be safe. To know I’ll take them in if they need to hide and that I’ll listen if they need to talk or scream songs with them when they need to ignore it.... I want to build a home that feels safe.
In this moment, I look forward to the day I wake up past the middle of the bed... for it means that my subconscious would have accepted you’re not coming back and no longer leaves any space free for you...
