Slatebur Headcanons
So- Here's an introduction to Slatebur before I get into these headcanons. Slatebur is a Wilbur Soot ego (Sootsona? Bursona?) I made based off of the music video for Portrait of a Blank Slate (x). I thought that Wilbur in the video had the vibes of an ego, and so I created Slatebur!
Slate is a siren, so he can control/influence people when he sings
Slate can be really energetic, but mostly isn’t
Like Wilbur’s other egos, he can be a bit… Angsty a lot of the time
Probably why he gets along so well with Argbur
Absurdly good at performing
I also headcanon that his siren songs/when he sings, Slate can induce physical reactions in people too
Since siren songs effects usually are just emotional and psychological, nothing actually physical
Because the test subject in the music video for Portrait of a Blank Slate caught fire for seemingly no reason, I believe that Slate’s song did that
How did it do that? Uh.. it just did
I have no explanation for why it does, but it does now
Slate can control what physical reaction his songs induce, if any
For example, the video
He wanted that guy to catch fire/combust, so he did
I also have a headcanon for why that whole… test thing was happening in the first place
The start of the video introduces who I assume is the lead scientist, being Professor Andrew Watts
It says that they’re “Presenting their findings of the effect of mathematically arranged sonic frequency on the cerebral cortex”
Also the fact that the video starts with it being presented by WU&IO Advanced Research Division
I think that that test was to test the effects of a siren’s song on a human, for scientific research, hence the WU&IO Advanced Research Division conducting it
Maybe they knew about Slate being able to cause physical reactions with his song, maybe they didn’t
It’s exceedingly rare for a siren to be able to cause physical reactions in someone who hears their song like Slate can
