first impressions
The Three Husbands of Clementine Alberral
Nothin' happened in the way I wanted, every corner of this house is haunted
honestly i feel like something that is important to point out is that if Gale’s folly DIDN’T happen before the events of bg3 then he would’ve been beyond insufferable. his ego is sizable in bg3 already (yes i know it’s a front for his pain and insecurity blah blah) but can you imagine a gale that was not knocked down several thousand pegs and forced to really consider himself??
Physique references I prefer for each companion when drawing them:
Astarion: Ice Skater
Shadowheart: Ballerina
Wyll: Tennis player
Lae'Zel: Track star
Karlach: Wrestler
Gale: ... Chess player? (I'll be honest I don't have a go to for him)
enjoy some angst ridden pics inspired by scenes from my fics that no one asked for 🫶
I feel like for Gale it'd be completely normal to think that he has to deserve it to get to eat properly, deserve it to get proper rest, deserve it for John to be nice to him, to care for him. If he doesn't deserve it he should go away from everyone and try be better, because otherwise all those things would be thrusted upon him without him deserving them and he can't take that. But he doesn't know that, of course, and doesn't know he's doing that either
Hmmm... I can see this vision, anon. Gale is out there earning his keep, feeding his inner adrenaline junkie, winning the adulation of the men and the fascination of one Bucky Egan and he's pretty sure he's doing what a man needs to in order to earn it. But he doesn't really introspect about any of this, he just knows its his job to be sober, truck along, win the fight, make the big bird swoon like he's a fighter pilot, do what the other guys can't.
And as long as he's keeping up, he can accept what he's given, the drinks and the looks, and John's attention.
But if he can't? If he's sick or exhausted or hurt and he's not performing, what then? He's absolutely crawling into a cave or the woods to lick his wounds so no one sees he's not pulling his weight. And John, who is putting on his own show of self confidence he doesn't feel, doesn't really see that's what's happening right away. Why would he, of course Buck knows he's great and deserves the moon and stars? John's working on getting them for him right now.
Of course he knows...
Anyway, I think it's going to be interesting when Gale figures out that taking care of HIM and doing for HIM is the one thing that can pull John out of his funk. It makes no sense and its awful and whatever can he dooooooo...
