Revival After Five

Oh God is great, we made it through the first five months of the year! Time flies so fast, it’s June!

How did your first five months go? Mine went really crazy. Looking back, I wouldn’t consider everything that happened to me really great. I mean, it was good but it wasn’t really as exciting as how I have thought it to be. January (new year) has made me think about things that I should be doing ‘right’. Of course, human as I am, I fail, most of the time. I have made promises to myself, created another list of unfulfilled resolutions, and other stuff.

Since it’s a new month, summer has ended, and rainy season has come, I really wanted to see a positive change with myself and how I deal with what life is throwing at me. Good thing, God has guided me to the right path (as He always did) and helped me do what I wanted to do on the 1st day of the month. I woke up early than I usually do. I had my daily personal devotional, did my morning routine smoothly, went to work and arrived early in the office! I knew by the time I logged in at work, it would be a great start for me.

It felt amazing to have been really productive at work. I finished what I have planned to do. I was inspired to do everything I need to accomplish that day and just let out a very positive aura towards my work and my colleagues. I knew very well that my inspiration comes from God. For the longest time I have failed and skipped my daily personal devotions at mornings, I knew, I knew, when I decided to feed my spiritual life with God’s Word fully again, God has brought a message that if I spend the first few minutes of the day with Him, I need not to worry about anything during the day.

June 1 falls on a Wednesday and Wednesday means there is a midweek service in church. The service is scheduled at 7pm and I decided to have my dinner at a mall located near the church I am attending to. After I ate, I hurriedly went to the church via jeepney ride (thank God I wasn’t late).

I felt so convicted with the Pastor’s message about mature Christians going soul-winning. I realized how much I missed witnessing and see souls being won in faith in Jesus Christ. I realized how I only share the gospel when the opportunity tells me to and not when I, myself, open the opportunity to share. I used to blame it on my shyness or the fear of saying the wrong things. Flashbacks came to my mind on how I was able to overcome the shyness and fear few years back and was able to share the gospel to both friends and strangers. I asked myself, “where did that person go? Where did that soul-winner go?”

I felt ashamed of myself for having so little time spent in service of God and for being too pre-occupied with work, myself, and other things the past few months. I realized how I’ve almost turned my back from God. I wasn’t doing anything to glorify Him anymore. Maybe I did but I know it was not enough.

I almost cried during the invitation time. Glad to have held back my tears and just prayed hard and asked God’s guidance to get me back in track - to the path where He wanted me to go and to be. I know He has done so much for me to realize that He works even in the most minute details of my life and that He sees everything that I do and hears everything that I say. He has given me unlimited chances to renew the right spirit in me and He tells me that everyday is the right time to get right with Him. No matter how stubborn of a child I was and I am, He will always be willing to welcome me again and forgive the sinner that is in me.

As He has always promised, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” - Hebrews 13:5

From this month on, I am ready to revive myself again and fill my spiritual life with so much of Christ in it. I look forward to see the person God has planned me to be and firmly believe that His will is always the best of all.
